Sweet! I'm a geek!

i just scrolled over my icons and it said April 2 ...anyone else see this?

No.

I figured it was something to do with April Fools, being that is spells APRIL 1... but the "Rule" part was kinda confusing me... and why it's still there today kinda confuses me.
I'll check out that other thread. Thanks :)

I kind of like the art, too. Kind of like ribbons on a military uniform. Give us various icons to choose from, and we can all customize our topside sig with little icon flags.

I imagine they'll be gone by tomorrow...April 3.

Rule R

Xyl identified the set of flags correctly, so now we know how many there are.

Clue: Abstract got very close to identifying this rule while talking about another rule. He also used the magic word.

techfreak85's question was the best other clue to the rule.

Rule 1

As reported before, wrc fan identified the rule.

MOFS figured out that the name of the rule needs to be said in the correct language. This is definitely the geekiest part of the puzzle.

Clue: You have to speak the same language as me, painful as it may be to do so.

1) Yay! I get a mention!

2) In a previous post, Abstract talks about binary in his post about rule 1. Techfreak asks:
it thought Pcrumors just aliased to macrumors?

So maybe R means Riddle?

EDIT: r.j.s' answer seems better then mine. Ah well - so near to glory!

So has each code been cracked?
EDIT: Hooray! looks like it. You're all so smart. I thought it was just gibberish, here only to mess with our heads.

Should be.

I think everyone that played a major part in solving it gets to keep something there, much like the contest winners do - but it should be related to this ...

It would be cool if they got to keep one of their tiny icons as a souvenir.

Rule R

Xyl identified the icons.

r.j.s identified the rule.

All that's left to completely solve the Great MacRumors 2009 April Fool's Day Mystery Icon Puzzle is to identify the name of Rule R, which begins with an R. As it always true in life, the math majors are likely to save the day.
