How do you hide the icon from the desktop?

Finder -> Preferences. In the General tab, uncheck "Hard Drives"

i named it "Festplatte" (german for "Harddisk") going against own naming conventions for partitions: "system" "musik" "daten" "programme" etc. ...

was actually place holder for a better fitting name. but i'm going to replace it as soon as i buy an external hard disk 😉

gosh, I feel so unoriginal... mine are iBook HD, External HD, and well... iPod. Hopefully that first one will turn into Powerbook HD once school starts so I can be utterly unoriginal on a higher level lol

With them, I mostly just tried to come up with a name that start with the same letter as the drive.

Hmm.. need to come up with a theme I can use for my Mac drive(s).

I hide my hard drive as well... as well as my dock... I like a clean desktop... 😛

My ipod = Willard

My Shuffle = Willard


Hmm... Perhaps I should change my shuffle to Willard Jr.... but that makes me think that it's my son... 😱

Edit: And I don't have a son, and am at too young of an age to want to begin thinking of having a child....

Hi. Find an icon off the net, or even a jpg, click on it, press Apple + I to get info, click on the thumbnail, press Apple + C to copy it, click on your HD icon, click Apple + I, click on the thumbnail, press Apple + V to paste the other one in. Voilà!
