In the 80's I did geographic locations.
In the 90's planets and moons.
Now it is boring SystemHD so that each of our computers can have the same main HD name which makes some tasks in OSX easier. One of the negatives about OSX.

Mine is "Xenophobic", in keeping with my "-ic" scheme of naming machines and devices.
OK, my new PowerBook is called "Kinetic"... so here I have:

Kinetic = PowerBook
Xenophobic = Mac mini
Nucleic = primary Sony notebook
Atomic = secondary Sony notebook
Synthetic = primary Sony desktop
Ecliptic = secondary Sony desktop
Mnemonic = attached network storage device
Euphoric = Sony LocationFree TV
Anechoic = 60 GB iPod Photo

Individual hard drives on the PCs have their own names (Nucleic has "Cytosine", "Adenine", and "Guanine", for example).

Might the Greek naming catch on? I feel a trend starting!
I've been using Latin names for several iterations of hardware now, with the random exception of my latest PB, Violet, simply because I've been dying to use that word for something. But, Aurelia, Aurelius, and Claudia were my staples for a while.

Is "warez" LimeWire stuff or something? I'm not a P2P person, I'm oh so innocent. :)

It's just a name used for pirated software (yarr!). It's not specific to P2P or any particular application.

...Still trying to come up with a name for my PB drive. Hmmz...

Well, do you need some imaginative inspiration? Sorry friend, no excuses accepted. :p

You did not not see that post. *wave hand*

...darn.

:D Anyway, here's the new name for my Powerbook drive:

A cookie and a eight sided dice to anyone who recognize the name.

I suddenly got this urge to buy more drives so I can name them... Must... resist...

My G5's Hard Drive shares its name with Ali G's girlfriend...

...because it's 'me dual' processor G5. My little iBook is therefore 'Juliette'.

D&D creature, right? It can turn into a sphere as well as fight in humanoid form?... of course I could be thinking of something completely different - I'll jut quit now... :eek:

Well, I'm not too original, so for the internal HD's I just name it as follows:

iBook G3 (in my iBook... G3 :eek: )
PowerBook G4
Power Mac G5

But my pride and joy is my external disk

Just noticed it for the millionth time and thought I'd ask (a bit off-topic) - does anyone know why my G5's internal disk says "148.93 GB, ... .26GB Free"? This also shows up if I mount the drive from my PowerBook etc...

Just kinda bugs me...

Does it also do this if you decrease the font size and/or put the label under the icon, and not to the right of it?

Maybe not very creative after seeing all your stuff. I especially like the Transformers dude.

System and Data are my PB's harddrive, and 512 is a compact flash in the pcmcia that I keep all my documents on. I'm currently missing "Transpacific" which is a 40gig external 2.5" that I snail mail back and forth to the states.

I tried making my own icons once, but I never figured out transparency, so it looked really exceedingly lame.
