now that Apple has jumped their AppleCare + cost up, what are your plans for insurance for your shiny new iPhone 6S or 6S+?
AC+ for me. Called last night and purchased.
I have no insurance, received my phone yesterday can i still get applecare? or do y'all recommend something else?
Traditionally, that is the route I've always taken and ice never had to make a claim. With the price increase I'm more hesitant to do it.
Yeah, not thrilled with the price increase and I didn't even need to use it with my 5S (thankfully) but for me, if I had to make a claim/ get a new phone, I'd rather deal with Apple and their claim process than anybody else.

ATT covers theft right? I may be wrong about that though...I believe you can purchase it within 2 or 3 months if you call.
On topic: I've never usually purchased insurance, and I probably should because I never use cases or screen protectors. Honestly, i'm more worried about loss/theft than I am damage and AppleCare+ doesn't cover that.
Carrier insurance through Assurion that is tacked onto your bill typically covers loss/theft: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...e-squaretrade-applecare-assurion-etc.1913382/ATT covers theft right? I may be wrong about that though...
I don't know about you, but my homeowner's policy has a high deductible, and a phone isn't worth filing a claim.Check your homeowners policies...could already have applicable coverage. Check squaretrade as well.
Amex. Doubles the original warranty.

No deductible here with my travelers policy...
will it cover water damage? You can most definitely still purchase AplleCare+. You can visit the AppleStore or simply call 1-800-MY-APPLE and add it.
Exactly. The problem with relying on your homeowners policy is that you won't want to use it for a ~$900 item. Filing a claim for an amount this small isn't worth the potential effect on your rates.
I'm trying Upsie out. They seem new, but it was 49.99 for 2 years, and 25.00 deductible for any damage, etc. Doesn't cover loss of theft. Not sure how it will work out, and I've never really had the need for any type of insurance or whatever as I take immaculate care of my phone and don't think I've dropped one in the past 10 years.. *fingers crossed*
No Track record. You dont appear to be able to take to get repaired and then get reimbursed. Have to send in and wait 3 to 5 days. No idea what you get back either. Also, its a repair plan that seems to expire upon repair.
