Me reading this article and seeing a bunch of people waiting indefinitely.
Also me seeing that my brand new M1 MBP is coming in the mail today.

I really hope they come out this fall man, I've been waiting way too long to update my 2014 MBP (and for good reasons). At first it was cause of the ****** butterfly keyboard, then it was because I hated the touchbar, and now they even decided to bring some regular ports back alongside architectural changes to make it the perfect replacement :c.

I must admit I'm a tad pouty about this. I just traded in 2 old iMacs and an old iPhone for Apple credit, expressly to put toward a new 14in MacBook Pro.

What am I supposed to do? Sit on this credit? I guess I'll have to buy something else then. I'll show them! /s

Since my 2014 MBP is still productive for me, I'm not getting my hopes up on upgrading soon. Hopefully these notebooks will be out by late fall.

I am typing on mine too. It is a wonder. Still, I work in event production and as things are starting to move, I may get a new 15" M1 full aspects, just because I run concerts from it, different video streams, not "gaming" like the kids.

Rumors have a certain pace to them when something is actually coming, the MBP WWDC rumors had that pace. It seems quite likely they were delayed unexpectedly, which is not something the rumor mill would know about.

But now that puts Apple in an awkward position. Even in this online format, they have yet to be bold enough to hold an event for 1 single product. There has always been more than 1 thing. Clearly MBP's were meant to tack on the WWDC event.

Now that this is past, will Apple host an online event in July just for the MBP? Seems pretty unlikely.

Not being able to drive 2 external monitors from a Thunderbolt 3 port is beyond my understanding.
Probably the GPU is not powerful enough to do it.
Also, the deal killer for me has been the low RAM configuration availability. It doesn't go beyond 16 GB on the current M1 iMac and MBP.
Both of these limitations stem from the fact that Apple basically adapted the CPU they were going to put into the next iPad into the M1.

I'm fairly certain that the next version (M1x? M2?) will be free of these limitations as it will be a design that was created with Macs in mind, not iPads. This is one of the reasons I'm avoiding M1 Macs and waiting for the next major revision; it's so obvious that they just tweaked the next iPad CPU.

They have potentially two products to show off though; the new MBP and the "larger" new iMacs. Remember, the 24" iMac was meant as an upgrade to the 21" iMac. We're still waiting for the upgrade to the 27" iMac.

I know it sounds ridiculous but I'm actually kinda glad for the delay.
With the current supply shortages, these M2s have to be snagged literally the minute the're made available, and a few extra months will allow me to save money for a better configuration...
I'd love 64 GB of ram and, knowing apple, it won't be cheap
