I applied the 7.3.1 firmware yesterday, restarted, and it hasn't disconnected since. Was dropping every couple hours before. Crossing my fingers....
Thanks, I have just tried that out. It does not work for me, though.
It has been five months since Leopard was released and still there is no fix addressing this issue. It drives me nuts.![]()
I feel for your troubles. I have been having dropped connections since going to Leopard as well but since adding those other DNS servers addresses, my connection has been rock solid for 3 days. My internet has never been so fast. I am extremely happy with the results.
what dns addresses??? how? help!
what dns addresses??? how? help!
yeah, sorry... i just found them but i'm not gona add them because i think i'm having a different problem to some people, however i'm also having the same problem as lots of others...
it seems that there are a lot of problems with the wireless, as i say, i have an iMac here which was one of the last Tiger machines to be made and it connects fine. My new MacBook with Leopard SHOULD work!
HOWEVER!!! when i boot up in windows boot camp partition, i get a similar sort of thing, cant connect to the wireless router. obviously the wireless client doesnt say 'connection timeout' however it still doesnt bloody connect!!
GRRRR
That is strange, as for most people the wireless issue is only affiliated with Leopard. I can wirelessly access the Internet using Tiger or Vista without limitations of any kind.
Correct but you also want to add 4.2.2.1Go to System Preferences->Network->Airport->Advanced->DNS->Add 4.2.2.2
I'm curious, what airport firmware version are gonna used here?
Card: AirPort Extreme (0x168C, 0x87)
Firmware: 1.3.4
MBP 15", 2.2, Nov. 07
Just updated my software for airport + the firmware and hey presto! Everything now works, even in the mornings. Hell, it only took them 5 months. I guess that shows that Apple are just as stupid as any other company sometimes, and that my/our blind devotion to them shouldn't be quite so messianic.
I added DNS addresses 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.1. Not only did it not work, but it started dropping in even faster succession than usual (less than 10 seconds between drops). While the more frequent drops were likely a coincidence, it's not The Final Solution.
I can say without a doubt (5 days for me) this solution is what worked for me. What brand of router are you using?
Linksys WRT150N.
I downgraded, finally, to Tiger last night anyway. The 10 second drops put me over the edge, and it was either the OS went, or the macbook was going to get angrily thrown on the subway tracks.
