Same. I ordered almost immediately once the Apple Store was back up, and my new blue sexy AF AW6 is showing a delivery date of mid-November; went with the blue braided band.
I was thinking the same thing after the announcement of the Touch ID power switch on the new iPad Air.
To me, the BIG question now is whether AAPL will ALSO announced an "SE Plus" iPhone at the exact same time !
I can see AAPL offering it with a Back Wide & Back Super Wide, but NO Tele, for $499 USD, to try to capture more of the middle ground of the market.
Basically, an iPhone 11 w/o FACEID, in a 7+/8+ industrial design.
BTW, if the iPhone 11 gets RE-priced at the iPhone 12 announcement, to $599 USD, both it & the SE Plus could (soon) be, IMO, the two most-popular iPhones !
SE @ $399, SE Plus @ $499, iPhone 11 @ $599 ... iPhone 12 family starting @ $699.
As always, the amount & type of DRAM will play an important role in the level of Perf !

I think after yesterday it is unlikely that we will see Touch ID under the screen anytime soon.
Wouldn't make sense for Apple to invest in Touch ID in the power button them immediately shift to something else.
There wasn't any reason to wear a mask until March/April
By then it's way too late to change the design for launch even in November
Maybe not under the screen, but on the power button like the new Air? Highly possible.
We'll have FaceID on the screen, then TouchID on the power button. Two of the best tech working in harmony. The best of both worlds.
November release will make a lot of people mad with upgrades that fall in that sept/oct window which is a lotttttt of people. I think apple will release them in October to make people happy and not risk people just waiting another year for next years phone by releasing it in an odd month. People won't want to upgrade in nov and then the next year or two phones released in sept/oct they cant upgrade to. Screws things up.
Here's to hoping that the new iPhones, or at least Pro versions include the new iPad Air TouchID button as well as FaceID.
also agree with this. Id be happy with no faceid if it means no notch anymore. The fingerprint power button should be coming to iPhones. Fact. Apple knows this is the best time to do it because well everything going on there is a ton of frustrated people daily with masks and faceid has become horrible for most.
You and everyone else...People are desperate for new iPhones to counter the boredom...and with all that extra fed/stimulus/0 interest rates the money is there
I’m on a now old iPhone X/10 and don’t feel compelled to upgrade. I’m certainly open to upgrading, but the XS and 11 Pro didn’t really bring anything new to the table that mattered to me. Here’s to hoping the iPhone 12 has something compelling for someone who isn’t a photographer. TouchID might be enough, which is hilarious, because it’s something I had on a much, much older iPhone. But you guys have heard this song before, so I’ll stop.
I thought that that money was so that people could... you know... live. Not to get new iPhones.
They're simply not ready, likely due to factors driven by the pandemic. Life goes on.
Apple is not in a hurry to disappoint people this year. With all the leaks about same bezels and no 120hz display it's looking more and more like the year to skip the new iPhone unless you're coming from an iPhone 8 or older.

That is not the kind of thing you add to the design of a device you’re making literally tens of millions of, in the last month before release. The design of the iPhone 12 was likely set in stone 6 months ago.

John Gruber is suggesting the iPad Air 4 will release just after the iPhone event, but before the iPhone 12 ships, and points out they didn’t spend a lot of time talking about just how fast the A14 is. This makes a lot of sense. That way, iPad Air benchmarks don’t steal the iPhone 12’s thunder, but they do get the press and potential customers all excited while waiting to order the iPhone 12.
