I started out using the slimmer MUJI case, but after a single drop onto concrete, it picked up quite a few scratches around the corners. I switched to the Tongate shortly afterward and have now been using it for almost a month.

My first impression was that it felt well-made and reassuringly solid. The included privacy screen protector was also better than expected—it feels smooth, and I haven’t noticed any issues with touch response.

The case looks bulky in photos, but it is surprisingly lightweight and easy to put on and remove. Despite the rugged styling, the overall design is clean and understated. It is noticeably wider than the MUJI case, though. I have fairly small hands, so one-handed use takes a little more effort.

The camera module is fully surrounded by the case, and the raised lip keeps the lenses off flat surfaces. I also use the rotating aluminum kickstand almost every day for YouTube and shows. It rotates 360 degrees and still feels sturdy.

I’ve dropped my phone two or three times, including once on rough pavement where it rolled several times. The phone was fine, and the case didn’t pick up any obvious scratches.

I dont think Caudabe are entirely at fault here. They are originally based in US and to ease the delivery delay issues they sourced out their operations especially for overseas territories.

Now the QC checks at these outsourced warehouses could be the problem. Most scenarios I have seen or read are with overseas customers.

QC checks in my opinion at US locations are far better.
