Have two 6S Plus (64GB) on hand with me, one gold, the other silver.

Using the app on both devices, I found out that the gold had the TSMC and the silver had the Samsung.

GeekBench results:

TSMC chip in the gold:

Samsung chip in the silver:

Running the test many times, the Samsung chip was consistently faster, but by very little. Of course, during normal usage, the difference is not noticeable at all.

Numbers will vary slightly from 20-40 points on the same chip, let alone a comparison between brands. Below are my 6S 64gb TSMC results run back to back to back.

TSMC

2523 4415

2535 4396

2535 4421

2543 4434

2536 4424

2539 4421

2535 4429

My fastest of those 7 was only 11/21 points slow those your Samsung run. You're talking factions of percent on somethign that already varies so much each test that is done.

doesn't the battery test require that you essentially don't use your phone the entire time you have the app open? the makers of the app said somewhere that if you get out of the app in the foreground and just go about your business and continue to use the phone with the app running in the background, that it will no longer be accurate. Not sure if that's still the case, but that would require being without the phone for like 2 days, right?

I used my phone to cook eggs this morning. It was really nice. Then I designed art in my arm by using the phone to burn the skin. Then I had to recharge, because it only lasted 3 minutes off the charger and it was slow anyway.

Must be my Samsung A9.

Oh wait, I don't know which chip I have, but I'm guessing it was made by the kid down the street in his garage, since Apple obviously doesn't have, you know, testing and quality control standards or anything.

iPhone 6+ S 64GB. Been amazing in every way. I have TSMC. My friend has Samsung. The first 3 tests we ran i was faster. Both phones have zero lag or issues, and as good battery as our last iPhone 6 Plus versions. These phones both smoke anything we have ever used, amazing in every way. No yellow tint, and they both run extremely cold.

However the Samsung is on AT&T and the TSMC is on T-Mobile and the one on T-Mobile smokes the Samsung phone on web browsing and downloads and overall network quality seems to affect the phones performance a lot more then processor.

I think this chip difference is a non-issue and is not related to problems customers are experiencing with freeze, lag or temps. Those are probably software issues.

Frigging Nora, I have never seen those speeds even over WiFi in the UK! :eek:
I bet web pages open up instantaneously.

Top is my WiFi, bottom my O2 4G result...

Can someone explain the processor speed (i.e. 1.84 ghz) in this context? I ask because I've seen different values (1.84, 1.85) but mine consistently shows 1.79 (though just now it was 1.81). I don't understand why this would be different or why it would change.

How do i download this app? It tells me it can't download right now and I can't go to the profile in general settings like the website instructs to trust the app because I have no profile tab option at all.

You do realize all processors scale their speeds depending on load. Have for probably 10 years in computers too. Your processor is not ALWAYS running at max speed that would make no sense at all

Could you run geekbench battery test and post results here? It would be interesting to see if there's any difference between TSMC and Samsung?

I can't get it to work either. Get the same message. How is everyone else getting this to work(I'm guessing 9.0.2 is what's preventing it from working)?

I love the internet....everyone thinks they are an expert. I wonder if Apple Engineers laugh at some accusations.

You can also use System Status (not free) straight from AppStore.

Details tab -> Device information

Look for entry "type".

6S:
n71ap = Samsung
n71map = TSMC

6S+:
n66ap = Samsung
n66map = TSMC

Ah shucks. I bit the bullet and installed geek bench. Just ran it and got 2562/4462 on the first run.

2nd run: 2563/4462
3rd run: 2563/4473
4th run: 2566/4472

Update: installed system status
Confirmed! N71AP

Ty!!
