It is my second charge.

Benchmarks are more relevant than your unique usage. With a benchmark you can reproduce exactly the same amount of work your processor is doing every time and then you can compare.

problems with benchmarks is that they're not relevant of your unique usage :). But they show that in worst case scenario one of the cpu has 2h more battery life which is huge.
May be for your usage the difference will be just 30min or what apple measured at 2/3%.

I personnaly believe what I saw on benchmarks. But It doesn't really matter in the end if you're happy with your device.

I'm winning! :)

I'll say though, there is a Samsung iPhone 6s Plus that only ran 30 minutes less than mine did. Who knows what the settings on the phone were for that test though. When I ran, I had everything turned on (LTE, Wifi, Notifications, etc). That person might have been running in airplane mode with no apps installed. That does kind of make the benchmarks worthless since the tests are not being done under identical conditions. There needs to be several thousand tests done to see what the overall trend looks like.

Here in Taiwan, all the so called "insiders" or "TSMC employees" are saying Apple did intend to let TSMC make all the A9s, but then Samsung came in with a lower price (supposedly $7 USD cheaper/per chip) and Apple went back to ask TSMC to match, TSMC refused, so Apple shifted a big part of the order to Samsung.

But Samsung has poor yield rate with 14nm, not to mention Taiwanese media blasted Samsung for stealing trade secrets from TSMC.

Anyways.....

So in other words this whole fiasco was because Apple decided to save some money on an inferior product. I sure Samsung gets their act together for the A10. If Samsung is getting very poor yields, that may explain their poor power usage at higher loads due to leakage.

Samsung can sell chips to apple under the cost cuz samsung is rich. Also, it gives Samsung chance to steal the design from apple for its own chip. It also gives Samsung a chance to practice and improvement its 14nm manufacturing.

See Samsung's next generation chip mongoose, you can see how similar the single core score compared to A9.

By producing A9, samsung can avoid the same problems they faced in A9 in mongoose chip. That's why for them it's a very good deal.

6S here. Samsung and the battery is horrid. I used my 6S with the exact same usage as my 6. Then took my 6 and used it one full day. both iOS 9.0.2. The 6S is 2 hours worse then my 6. Exchanging today.

What if you get another Samsung chip phone?

He could ask for a refund and buy another one. I'm sorry if my reply is the same level as yours :)

Any 6s 128gb with samsung ? I wonder if apple was generous enough to put TSMC chip in the most expensive version of iphone.

If you mean if there are TSMC chips on a 6S+ 128GB, then yes. That's exactly what I'm running.

Samsung 6S 128gb here, very pleased with it too, although I'm sure you won't let a silly thing like that sway you :)

I've seen at least a couple of people get a Samsung chip in the 128GB 6s+.

Unfortunately yes it bother me a lot ;) especially when I noticed from normal use that my samsung 6s had worse battery than my replaced TSMC 6s. Thanks for your reply I won't bother buying a 128gb then.

64GB Space Grey Sim-free...got Samsung. I'm starting to think most of the sim-free ones are Samsung...

Both sim free I got were Samsung. Battery life poor compared to my 6. Keeping my 6 for another year and I'll get the 7.

My Samsung gave me better battery life than my TSMC. You can only tell over four or five charge cycles as some days mine returns a lower figure for doing the same stuff I did the day before. This chipgate is very subjective and for every anecdotal 'my TSMC gives better battery life' there are others saying that their Samsung lasts longer. No two people get the same results anyway and that can be seen in the battery threads.

This is the perfect storm really exactly because battery life is so variable and can be such a volatile and controversial subject with iPhones anyway - with every iteration of either the iPhone or iOS there is this continual discussion over whether battery life is better or worse, and nobody can ever agree because the underlying reasons why one person may be having their best battery life ever and the next having a terrible time are so many and varied, and often nothing to do with that latest update or new hardware.

Add into the mix a popular notion that one particular type of 6S is worse than the other and of course it's a self fulfilling prophecy for many and the sole reason their battery isn't lasting is because of that Samsung chip..

I'm happy. I got a TSMC A9 chip on my unlocked Rose Gold 128G AT&T iPhone (A1634), which is equivalent to the Sim-Free version. AT&T unlocked it for me even though it's still on a Next Plan!! Yay!!

Now, I have to really hope nothing goes wrong with this bad boy as I'm carrying it around naked!

My husband is exchanging his iPhone 6s+ tomorrow since it has a bad battery life and it happens to be a Samsung A9 chip.
