LOL! How did this even happen?!?

I'm thinking there is a glitch in the matrix.

This topic is amazing for the humans who suffer from OCD and placebo effect

Omg! You took the words out of my mouth! The way this topic has flipped and flipped back and forth is amazing. People thinking their battery life is poor, their phone is too slow, their phone is too hot...blah blah blah and then the next minute...hmm...maybe my phone is suddenly lasting longer and faster.

Reminds me of:

Has anyone exchanged their phone with T-Mobile, within their 14-day period? I want to exchange but I'd feel silly to be honest.

How do you check what chip you have? I think I saw some posts that said one of the apps which helped check this was take down from the app store.

I have a Samsung chip in my iPhone 6s Space Gray 128GB Verizon.

I have been testing it and can say that the battery life has been roughly the same as my iPhone 6. So, I'm fine with that because my iPhone 6 always got me through the day and then some!

So, no chipgate problem for me. Apple's comparison sheet says the battery life should be the same as the 6 models, and so far that seems accurate.

I don't know if this is related or not, but my new replacement iPhone 6s Plus with the Samsung chip is having the screen freeze problem. My old one with the TSMC chip never had this problem.

Have a look through the thread on that issue here, there are many reports of it happening with TSMC phones, no correlation with chip type whatsoever.

I think people really need to forget about either chip being "bad", neither is, they are both as likely to be as perfect or as glitchy as each other. The only consistent difference is in that Geekbench test.

The developer temporarily took it down, but it's back now - search for Lirum.

There are various alternatives too - for instance BMSSM is another free one, System Status is a good app although paid, and Geekbench itself has now been updated to reveal the model number after a test has been run (again that's paid but only 79p).

@Dented Thanks! I downloaded the Lirum App and it looks like my phone has N66mAP. Is that Samsung or TSMC?
Eitherway, I'm removing that app now and getting back to using my phone :p

It's amazing how many people in this thread feel the need to login and tell others what they should or should not be thinking or feeling. Either that or they are trying to convince themselves that it's OK if to have the Samsung SoC in their iPhone.

As I said before, when you pay $1030.00US for an iPhone you have the right to be 100% satisfied. Whatever that means to YOU.

I have the Samsung chip on 6S plus and usually have around 40-50% left when I go to sleep, so it's more than enough for me.

Well you might need a little check of your reading comprehension. I said NOTHING about being satisfied. I just referred to how quickly people went from...omg...thank goodness I have Samsung, my battery life is great...to oh no, I have Samsung...my phone sucks I must return it. And vice versa...the tsmc chipped phones were dreaded...laggy, bad battery etc...and now they are the phone to have. Geez. Sorry I had to explain it all to you.

My battery has been great from the get go...so I assumed at first mine was a Samsung when all the info people were posting was about how the Samsung was more efficient on battery and then when it switched I assumed I have a tsmc. Either way it didn't matter because my phone function is the same. Late last night I downloaded one of the apps and saw I have a tmsc. But if it came up Samsung I wasn't going to panic as the phone seems awesome. I commented on the amazing battery life before the whole scandal hit.

You guys must be a hoot to live with when you buy a $50,000 car...

My favorite posts in this thread say that it does not matter which chip you have and then tell you they have the TSMC chip but they don not care.

I am betting less people will be returning when they find all the refurbs will have the Sammy chip!
Yeah.. can you imagine trying to look an Apple or Carrier rep in the face and say.. I'm returning this because it has the inferior Samsung chip and I need you to find me one with the TSMC chip.... LOOOOOOOOLLLL!!!!!! Like that employee is gonna open every box in the store - add the Lirum app and check the chip type... The whole notion is just ludicrous. While I agree with Wirelessness' post where (s)he states that you have a right to be 100% happy with a $1030 phone... it's just so impractical to GET yourself one with the specific chip..

Are people ACTUALLY going to their stores.. Returning their Samsung.. Buying a new one.. getting it home.. checking the chip - and then returning again.. and again.. and again??? until they get a TSMC??? It just all seems like an absurd notion.
