I've never restored from backups. Habit back from my Android days. Always felt corrupt data would ruin my experience. Yeah, I'm not liking this but I think I'll stick it out and see if it gets worse. I need to be able to replicate it to an Apple specialist.

Even then, I run the risk of getting the same problem in a new device. That or getting something worse. Hmm....
If your not happy with it why keep using the phone , make the appointment now

If you tell them you did a fresh install and still keeps freezing from time to time and there's no way to recreate this live , unless the genius is a douchebag there's no way they are going to say no to you for a replacement , the phone is less then a week old

Could be why it's so cool then. It's getting throttled to keep the same temperature as the Samsung chip and its killing performance. They might come out with a fix for it in software but it might come at an energy cost.

I'll take less battery if it'll give no lag and consistent performance. That's a trade off but hey, if this processor is being throttled, imagine the potential! Sure it'll get a bit hot, battery life will suck, but it would be a monster. Haha.

Yeah that's what I'm hoping. Once they stop throttling it it will be faster. Wonder how hot it would get normally I'd the throttling wasn't so aggressive.

I wonder. I really hope that's all it is. I mean, it is bigger. It would seem that it's not exactly like the Samsung one. It makes me wonder WHY It's bigger. It's just figuring out what exactly makes them different and how that affects performance, that's the hard part.

Chinese or not, we must be careful in installing this kind of "sideloaded" apps. And I don't think many people will remember to remove the certificate after accepting it.

Someone should report it to Apple and his cert. will be revoked very soon.

It's bigger because TSMC is not technically as advanced as Samsung so they don't have the technology to make it smaller. If they are lacking there in respect to the process, what other component of the CPU is lacking? That is the question.

I removed mine right away but the freezing was there before I installed it. Else I might of actually been quite worried about my decision...

I really am a bit flabbergasted over this. I wonder just how many are like mine, bad batch perhaps?

That's true. Good point. So to make them more "Equal" they'd need to do something. I am quite curious to if mine was just in a bad batch. I don't remember how to find out what week or factory it's made in.

This thread is officially ridiculous.

A) The app to check your CPU is safe (please read the reddit post - or lookup the code), and having an installed cert/profile *after* the app is removed doesn't do anything (please read Apple's documentation, or take a class on iOS programming and Provisioning). The source code contains a call to an API to check the "HardwarePlatform" parameter of the device. Apple has iOS on lockdown - it's extremely difficult to get past sandboxes and encrypted hardware. If you don't understand any of this, then don't install the app. There's also an open source variant here: https://github.com/WDUK/A9ChipSource (note - I am not the author of either of these apps, but I do write code)
B) Unless you have a degree in EE and experience with chip manufacturing, I really really doubt you would have any idea whether or not one chip is 'better' than the other. Also, the chip in question is not the entire A9. You guys are speaking as if you're experts in frequency throttling, heat dispersion, wafer manufacturing, etc. The TL;DR is that a smaller chip implies smaller transistors that are more densely packed, more efficient and closer in proximity (faster data transfer). Apple spec'd the A9 - both versions are built to that spec within a certain tolerance. If one is faster than the other, it would be within that tolerance.

This was my concern, but I didn't install the profile, so I guess I'm malware free!

My 6s Plus 64gb is running like an absolute beast, no problems whatsoever. My chip could be from Samsung, it could be from TSMC, it could be from the Keebler Elves for all I care. The phone runs amazingly well and that's what matters. Apple promised me an A9 chip and I got an A9 chip.
 
I really don't care whether the CPU in my 6s+ was manufactured by Samsung, TSMC or TMNT as long as it's running as fast as today.

Ok, you have no idea what you're talking about. You are making wild assumptions and passing them off as fact. Please stop. You aren't helping anyone.

Die shrinks don't always run cooler. Sometimes heat dissipation is actually harder with a smaller die due to increased thermal density. This happened with the Intel chips when the Ivy bridge processors ran hotter than the very similar Sandy Bridge processors that were made with a larger process. This made IB chips a bit harder to over clock compared to their SB counterparts.
