On the older Macs, over time, the space grey colour would chip here and there, especially on the edges, and the aluminium would shine through. I am assuming it will be the same with all the colours available now. Silver is the colour that stands up to wear and tear the best and fingerprints and oily smudges from the palms are the least visible on it.
On a personal note, I like Silver the best, the contrast with the black keyboard and the screen makes it stand out.

I only just got my first ever MacBook with the 2020 M1, and I went with Space Gray. Gold was very tempting, but it was just a tad too much for me.

I was really hoping the colors were going to come out, because I was all in on the green. I've wanted a green iPad since that was announced, though now with the MacBook, I don't find myself wanting an iPad much.

I'll have to wait and see them in person, but I think based just on photos so far, if I were to upgrade, I'd go with starlight.

Silver

Mightnight looks great, but also looks to be a fingerprint magnet in all the first looks. My Space Gray phase is done and while I like the Starlight better than the old Gold it still isn't for me. There are many reasons the Silver is a Classic color. Just looks clean, wears well and is a neutral color so goes with everything. If they would have made a Sierra Blue version I really would have been tempted though.

If the 15.2" Air is real and uses the same design and finishes, probably Space Grey in the end, Midnight looks really good pristine, but very prone to picking up fingerprints and smudges. Silver also looks quite nice but I've yet to have a SG MacBook.

I’m stunned by the Midnight model. Like clean and stealthy. But I’m curious how the durability of the paint will hold up since this is a darker colour option.

Agree 💯.

In one of the hands-on impression videos on YouTube, midnight did show some fingerprints, which was slightly disappointing. It still looks really cool though. Silver though is still probably the cleanest looking of the lot.

Here's the video of the midnight model I mentioned (it starts at dolly shot showing fingerprints on the display lid)
