Went with the 11 Pro Max, Why? Well bigger screen and battery (which is awesome). Plus it's a social status and makes up for smaller things ;) I did buy a pocket socket to help with one handed use.

You’re what?! Social status?!

I would go for the Pro Max because the bigger, the better!
Bigger doesn't always mean better... All you get is more battery life and larger screen. The larger size sacrifices on ease of one-hand use, which is actually a way bigger is worse. Otherwise it's entirely identical to the smaller iPhone 11 Pro.

I choose the smaller iPhone 11 Pro because I prefer smaller phones. The reason I prefer smaller phones is because they are better for one-hand use (which I value) and more portable. (FYI, I am NOT including the standard iPhone 11 in this forum.)
I'm planning on the 11 Pro and for the same reasons - the Pro Max would be too big for me.

I'd be tempted to get the 11PM because I've already had a 5.8" phone (X), and currently using a 6.1" (XR).

I like to feel like the form factor is different when I switch even though I had a string of Plus phones (6+, 6s+, 7+)

Eyeing an iPhone 9 or the 12Max possibly as my next,

Not the 9!

Feed the machine, Buy the 11 Pro Max now then buy the Iphone 12 Pro Max later, You'll feel better, I think

I'm still using an X. I debated on buying an 11 Pro, but decided to hold off another year. When I upgrade, my plan is to buy the Max version and here is why...

My previous phone was an iPhone 6 Plus. When I moved to the X, I noticed that, although the screen was taller, it wasn't as wide. This means the keyboard buttons are closer together and feel a bit smaller. I make a lot of typing mistakes on my X that I didn't make on my Plus-sized phone because of this. Plus my fingers can get a little cramped over longer periods of use.

It might seem silly to some people, but that's my primary reason for going Max; for comfort. There are other reasons to choose the Max, though. I would have bought the larger size when I bought my X, but it wasn't an option until the XS Max the following year. I've played around with friends Max phones and I feel it's the right size for me. We'll see how I feel after I own one myself and have had time using it regularly.

Completely get you. That has been the main issue with phones since they introduced these longer screen ratios, one HAS to get a larger screen because the smaller ones tend to be quite narrow.

The XS Max and 11 Pro Max for me to feel just right in hand, they are nice and wide compared to most smartphones on the market which is great, IMO.

The 11 Pro Max Display is about as wide as the 8 Plus, but with smaller side bezel.

11 Pro, hands down. I have my 11” IPP if I need bigger screen real estate. It’s all about my iPhone being compact since it goes everywhere with me.

I love the size of the 11 Pro, its perfect for one handed use. Being a more compact phone I don't feel the need for a case as I am not scared of dropping it due to it being unwieldy. And considering how good battery life has improved this year I would be happy with it. I love the idea of better battery life with the Pro Max but I would be willing to carry a powerbank or battery case as backup for long days or during travel.

I never use my phone one handed anyway so yes for me the bigger the better!

I had the 11 Pro Max, and as much as I liked the screen size and battery life, I wear mine on a holster, too many times it would grab, or there would be a bulge on my side under my jacket or t-shirt.

I downsized to the iPhone 11 Pro and I think this is the perfect mix of size and battery life for my use. Going to the smaller screen size was not as much a sacrifice as I though it might end up being. It is plenty big, and the battery life hit might be 15% difference at the end of the night.

Even if the phone was smaller, the majority of consumers don’t use smart phones one-handed. If you think about it, it requires two hands to primarily text anyways, the only reason you would use your phone for ‘one-handed’ applications, would be for ‘simple scrolling’. The reality is, the larger variant makes it more difficult to manipulate one-handed, which is why I preferably like the smaller version.
