They really need to look at the pictures they use for their product page before posting them. The first picture: USB-c is on the left and only 1 mDP, the fourth picture: USB-C on the right next to 2 mDP. It makes things more confusion while in reality it is rather simple: the first picture is for the USB version of the dock, the fourth is the Thunderbolt one.

JFYI when asked about December preorder delivery estimate OWC now says late of April possibly slipping into May (was middle of April recently). :(

AKiTiO, save us!

Today, another message from B&H regarding OWC 13 Port Thunderbolt 3 Dock: The following is still out of stock.
I will never buy from OWC again. This is the worst promise ever. Worse then from a crowd funding beginner.
Sure I can give up now, but if I waited since last November then I can wait until November of this year. But then, should we trust a product when it's maker is not to be trusted and has no real concept of time?

This is the case with all of the Thunderbolt 3 docks that are capable of powering the 15" MBP. Currently we only have the non-charging TB3 dock from StarTech and CalDigit, all the other docks have the same delay.

In that case, I will never buy anything in advance from any of those companies. I will wait until the first one starts shipping their product. That way, I will avoid giving money way months in advance to anyone who did not keep their promis, not even closely. Im not going to be fooled again like this. There is no reason to be pre-ordering, I was just too enthusiastic in my excitement. Sometimes you pay less for pre-orders, but as we see, they can be very late, and someone else may be ahead of your choice and those others even end up with a better review. Sit and wait the next time.

Jeez, at this rate the Apple pro display (which I assume will be TB3 and have some sort of hub functionality like the old ACD) will probably be out before any of these ship!

Got an email from Henge Docks today for preorders on their horizontal dock. Went to the site to look, and ship date was September. Damn. Not sure we can really blame the manufacturers, of course they want to get these out as fast as possible so they can make money. I'm really curious what is holding everything up so badly, especially since TB3 should have been available as a standard for a while.

Or Intel because they have to certify them.

Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 was shipping not too long ago directly from Lenovo..... But they have been out of stock for awhile..

Lenovo is compatible with MBP and pushes 60 w power to MBP.

I too have OWC pre-ordered so didn't buy Lenovo that time. Clearly my mistake.

FWIW, the new Dell Thunderbolt Dock TB16 doesn't work with a 15" Touch Bar Macbook Pro. Nothing is recognized at all. With a new Dell Latitude 7480 it's decent. When the fan on the dock kicks in it's noticeable in a home office but not in a busy work environment. There is no software control for the fan, just two settings, low and high.

Gross. It didn't even occur to me that TB3 docks would have fans. I hope the caldigit is silent. Like most docks it only comes with a really short TB3 cable so I won't be able to stuff it behind my desk.

The Dell 7480 is spec'd out with the highest processor, 16 gigs, 500 SSD, etc so it's a typical higher end system for Windows 10. On the dock I have two 24" displays at 1920x1080. One going out the MDP the other the DP. Ethernet and USB keyboard/mouse attached. I haven't tried the dock with two 27" displays at 2550x1440 to see how that would tax the system. When I mentioned the fan noise to my Dell rep he asked why I didn't go with the USB-C based dock (it doesn't use a fan). It lacks the full size DP on it, plus it's not Thunderbolt.

If Lenovo would actually stock a T470 with an appropriate display, I would evaluate that along with their Thunderbolt dock.

I think the Dell is the only TB3 dock with fans, all the others are fanless. Btw, the short cable you can easily fix as CalDigit also sells the 1m and 2m cables. Longer than 2m does not exist yet plus those will be glassfibre and thus not charge your notebook.

I hope so. I'm aware longer TB cables exist, but they're really expensive due to the circuitry in them (which is why the free ones in the box are so short).

I heard a rummor that DATOptic will release a Thunderbolt 3 tower has 5x SATA (6Gb) tray-less bay JBoD, Two USB 3.1 host, and one eSATA (6Gb) host that support Port Mulitpier
Can wait to see that !

Yeah - Finally DATOptic release the 5 bay JBoD tray-less with embedded eSATA 6Gb and 2x USB 3.1 @ 10Gb/s each
It available in both TB2 and TB3

T5C-eS3U31.TB3 5bay trayless+ 1x eSATA, 2x USB 3.1 Thunderbolt 3

T5C-eS3U31.TB2 5bay trayless+ 1x eSATA, 2x USB 3.1 Thunderbolt 2

But... shipping in May....:-(

Can't believe it is nearing the end of April and vendors are still having trouble getting these docks certified.

I preordered the Caldigit TS 3 and got refunded today due to the delay. I did not ask for a refund. So I don't know when it will be available. I now bought the HP 65W TB3 dock instead...

Thank you again for pre-ordering CalDigit THUNDERBOLTTM STATION 3 (TS3). As the product has been delayed for while, we will be cancelling your order and issuing you a full refund, by company policy.
if you don't mind me asking when did you pre-order? I preordered 8 jan 2017, and only notice I received was about a month ago saying shipment was to be delayed until mid may...just curious. thx

Same here. I don't think ours got cancelled because our preorder locked us into the $200 price at that time.

A question that I have is how LG have been shipping what is essentially a Thunderbolt 3 dock with full power delivery capability since December in the form of its UltraFine 5K display*, and CalDigit, OWC et al. have nothing to show a third of a year later.

If I was them - I had a working product, but that Intel would not certify for whatever reason - I would be shipping regardless, without certification.

*Insofar that it is turning a Thunderbolt 3 connection into two almost 4K, 60Hz, 10-bit video streams, plus a USB 3.0 hub, webcam, microphone, and audio, whilst providing 85W of power delivery.
