LOL, wasting 10 months of development, many sleepless nights and frustrating customers with endless delays, and all they came up with is this pretty straightforward 0.2 mm solution?

A simple, obvious solution for any opacity problem is adding thickness.
Which probably would have taken 5 min. to figure out - if the Apple designers weren't so damn blinded by their anorexia obsession!
:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Sometimes even geniuses are only mortals...

I hope this turns into a class action suit. I'm so frikken sick and tired of apple making all these tiny mistakes and playing the silent game about it. So sick and tired. They are not god, they need to take responsibility for their mistakes.

And you should take responsibility for your sensitivity on these matters...
Do you count your McDonalds French fries every time you chow down?:D

Sounds like a "who cares?" kind of thing, but that's actually kind of a big deal if it creates case fragmentation. Not good. Hopefully inaccurate.

CRAP! Now the fandroids have some ammunition against us when we tell them how fragmented their OS is.

I don't mind Apple tracking my every movement but the fact that the white iPhone is 0.2mm thicker is inexcusable!!!! This is an absolute abuse of our rights and there should be an immediate recall!!!!!

how are best buy and other retail partners supposed to make money on it then? even apple stores make most of their profits on accessories

So according the Apple's official advertising it's exactly the same width, expect that after manufacture it may be a bit thicker.

And that is ok to say that is it?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

As long as an otter box will still fit, I'm fine. :D

WHAT?! This is completely unacceptable! I'm suing!

/sarcasm

Too late.

This just in:

2 California lawyers have sued Apple in Federal court over false advertising.
The white iphone advertised as 9.3 mm thick is actually 9.5 mm.

The 0.2 mm difference in thickness caused their daughters great anguish and emotional distress when they were trying to unlodge the white iphone from cases they had bought and broke a fingernail.
The case manufacturers were also named in the suit, as well as a cosmetician (broken fingernails)

I can see Consumer Report's headline now: "We cannot recommend the [white] iPhone 4 due to the 0.2mm difference which, based on our extensive research, caused increased pocket obstruction."

Apple need to change their product details.

It's THEY who wish to make big play about dimensions.

The could just say on their website "under 10mm thick"

But THEY are the ones that want to give an exact size down to 0.1 mm.

If it's 9.5mm then they cannot advertise it as 9.3mm and then say, manufacturing may end up making it bigger.

No one on these forums would let anyone else get away with a statement like this.

Question

I know this may sound stupid, but what's an iPhone 4?

haha, who cares about this, so stupid, knuckle-heads!!!

iPhone 4, black or white, is a great phone period!:D

Its a fantastic phone, no doubt. That said, the dimension difference is totally lame. Now White iPhone owners are going to have to sleuth for compatible cases. IMO, its too little too late from Apple for this white beauty. Bring on the iP5.

Lol, you forgot the glare factor due to white reflection.

relax, people, no one cares about the additional thickness unless it mucks up the fit of their $50 case.

if it keeps the face off the table when laying face down, i'm all for it.

Who tells you they won't?

Funny. 0.2 mm what an emergency! Call in the National Guard.

If you have a job you will know that first thing are getting done first.

What was first here? Ship the darn thing already !

Now in a secondary wave all the other things that are related to this will get updated.

So, never fear:

They will update the website ASAP as well as changing all the outer packaging material, internal leaflet, pdf files with instructions and manuals and, and, and...........

Just takes a while until it spreads out to everything.

Please keep monitoring things and report back to us, so we can all sleep at night again.
BTW: (I propped my pillow up by 0.2 mm to experience the difference and it sure enough it made me sleepless)

Because at the size, .1mm MATTERS. Look at spec listings of any phone.

Solution for antenna issue?

Given all the complaints about blocking the antenna, perhaps the extra thickness helps in some way with reception?
