If you get the opportunity you should pimp that employee for more info and try to find out what she's basing that impression on - would be curious to know.

I didn't pimp. She seemed like the employee next door so somehow I doubt she had the inside scoop. We'll see soon enough.

Too true. The last Mac Mini just showed up in the Apple Store. Maybe one day you'll see white iPhones up for order.

I hope. I'm sick of checking every day. lol. It sucks. I'm extremely impatient and i know my local Walmart has the black ones in store now. Knowing i can have an iPhone right this minute if i want it bad enough, but trying to hold off for white is a pain in the ass.. especially for me. lol.

i feel you, i'm in the same boat. i had a black 32GB in my cart on launch day, but decided i would wait for white. it's killing me!

Something tells me they won't sneak it by for long if they try. It'll spread to all the mac sites like this one like wildfire. Of course, if you depend on that, it'd probably be sold out by the time you get to the site to order...

No I didn't forget the link. I'm too tired to search for it. But it's common knowledge that Foxconn (iPhone) and Hon Hai produce for Apple. I can tell you this Apple doesn't want to deal with these kinds of issues. They work differently from any other company I've seen. From their contracts to how they handle RMAs etc. They are very difficult to work with. But Apple can get away with it, my friend told me that having Apple as a customer "is being the envy of all their competitors."

Yes, its common knowledge that Foxconn manufactures for Apple, I didn't question that (in fact I stated it earlier). However, your earlier post indicated they had 300,000 workers working on the iPhone. And from that you insinuated there shouldn't be problems. So I'm sure you understand when I have reason to doubt your "friend". Do you have a link?
I'm sorry but you must be joking or new to Apple. This happens consistently across all their products for early adopters. This isn't an isolated incidence here and there nor is it substantial. But the issues do exist. I would keep this in mind.

Really? Its a wonder why its all over the press if its so common. I have a hard time following your opinion as it seems to flip flop. The issues aren't isolated, nor are they substantial? So what are they? Small but wide spread? Meaning very easily fixable. Something that was probably missed in development, not manufacturing. So those 300,000 workers probably couldn't do much to help.

As Apple said before, its a software issue that will be fixed. I guess no other company has EVER updated their software. Only Apple.

And you either "must be joking or new to" electronics if you think any product is released without any sort of flaw. It would be impossible to release a perfect device. Something Apple definitely does not have control over. This is very commonly known, especially in sciences as theory vs practice.

Could you list the underlying flaws in every Apple product released in the last year? It really shouldn't be to hard since they're all over the media, right?

which brings me back to what I said. Walk in Apple store, return black phone, walk out. Walk into ATT, buy white iphone, walk out.

probably not what I will do since I am happy with the look of the black phone I have, but it is both possible and under the ethics of the current return policy.

You have confused ethics with a loophole in the policy.

Ethical return: You bought a black iPhone. You really thought that it was exactly what you wanted. You had no intentions of returning it. However, there was an issue with the phone (oh... say, it was defective in some way that was no fault of your own). Soo.... you return it. At the time you return it, the white phone has become available. You see the white, and decide that you like it better, soo... you buy a white phone.

That is ethical.

Buying a phone with the specific intent to "borrow" it for a month until the white phone you actually wanted is available is NOT ethical.

I don't care how Buddhist you claim to be. It's just not.

Does anyone else think that the white, when it comes to re-selling, is more salable than the black?

I am quite a keen ebayer and this has been my experience (3G, 3GS).

The white's extra saleability is one of the main reasons why I am edging towards the white. That and the fact that if I were to order a black it wouldn't ship for 3 weeks anyway lol, so really would be the same (or longer) wait...

really hope Apple announces something soon, im this close to getting the black. I will remain strong though.

APPLE SAY SOMETHING PLEASE. Give us a date, ANYTHING!

If it doesnt come out soon I might have to resort to getting one of these:

Stay strong!! I said the same thing to myself since I'm dying to get the iPhone 4. But I told myself I would be patient and wait for the white iPhone 4.

okay quick question. I got my phone for the 299 2 year contract coz i added a new line. If i return the phone within 30 days, i will get refunded but if i wanted to order another one (white) will I be able to get the 299 price again? Or will i have to pay the full price? ??

I think you have to pay the full 599/699 price.

If you get refunded, the contract gets rescinded. You will be able to pick up the white at $299.

okay i will be able to pick up the 299 price but has to be within 30 days correct?

I mean what if i return this within 30 days, use a different phone then get the white one (assuming it doesnt come out within 30 days) do i still get the 299 or have to pay full price?

If you don't buy the other phone through AT&T, you'll be fine, but if it isn't a smartphone, they might nuke your data plan.

Really, I'm just scared that Apple, being Apple, will have the phones available for order the last day of July - technically that's 'after the second half of the month' - and ship them out mid-August. That would SUCK.

That is likely the worst thing that can happen, but I Don't think thats likely, because APple knows how high the demand it and they would get them out earlier.

I'm gonna get the white when it comes out, but I hope it gets delayed (i.e. Apple trys to sneakily fix the hardware issues with the antenna).

I hope you're right. :)

I know! I have been hating myself for not getting the black. I am trying my best to wait out for the white since i made it thus far!
