I would've bought the white iPhone if Apple had put it on the shelves at release, but now that its April, I've decided to wait for the fifth-gen iPhone... Hopefully they won't have any problems with that one

Looks like a bar of soap. Which I guess is OK. It IS different, 'fresh', and will make a fashion statement for those who care about such things.

I guess that not many people on here remember the white iPods and white iBooks back in the day. Man, I miss that white finish. I might just buy the white iPhone at full price.

iPhone 5 will be announced in September along with the iPad 3, which is also planned for that time. I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed the iPad 3 back a little though.

100% sure the iPhone 5 will not be out this summer.

white iphone is ugly late and unnecessary so apple can keep it.. they never made it cause demand was always lower for white ones and the white design look worse on iphone 4 than on 3gs..

I guess it's just a matter of preference. I personally think the white iPhone 4 is gorgeous, while my white 3g always reminded me of an Oreo cookie.

And it seems like the demand for the white one has been pretty high since they unveiled it last year. Not to mention they have produced white iPad 2's which seem to be pretty popular.

i really hope this happens . i had to re buy a new iphone 4 just a week ago . if this is true about being here by the end of april then i can just do an even exchange :D

Give me some wise decision guys…

I am badly in need for a new iDevice. My last device was the iPod Touch 1st Generation. I am planning to get both the iPhone and iPad, but will only get one now and wait for the other one in the next update.

So which is better now?

Get iPhone 4 White, and wait for iPad 3…
or
Get iPad 2, and wait for iPhone 5?

I am leaning towards the first option because the iPhone 4 feels like a revolution while the iPad 2 feels like a small upgrade and I wish it has a retina screen. But on the other hand, the iPhone 4 feels old now and iPad 2 just released.

unless something is wrong with the phone you have now, then i would get the iphone 4 . otherwise i would just wait

amen, brother (sister?).. i, too, am in the original iphone club. i didn't think the 3G or 3GS were worthy of an upgrade.. but iphone 4 was beautiful and i was finally ready. unfortunately, i fell in love with the white so i waited.. and waited..

it's been a very painful 10 months, but now that i've waited this long, i'm trying to be strong and hold out for the iphone 5. i wish i knew whether it was coming out in june or september. if september for sure, i would just get the iphone 4.. argh.

I've become convinced the iPhone 5 isn't coming in June because iOS 5 won't be ready for it and tradition calls for every new iPhone hardware to be released with a new version of iOS. iOS 5 will be previewed at WWDC early June then probably released in September along with its corresponding iPhone 5 launch. I'm not waiting another 6 months with my 3G, I'll be getting the white iPhone 4.

Who cares.

Yawn....Boring...Youre gonna put a case on it anyhow...How about a new iPhone?! I dont want to wait until the end of the year

A sure way to tell when a technology is running out of steam and nearing saturation is when the big new thing is a different colored case. Just look at Dell laptops or the iPod line. Not a good sign from Apple.

hopefully there will also be a slight speed bump & lowering of price to tide people over till september without feeling ripped off when they buy one.

My contract ends in may but i dont want to wait till september for a contract renewal.

Phones that are difficult to use are not smart.

In the mean time, might get the white one for my girl, she's still on my old 3G and it hurts me to see her still using that thing.

just because a new device is out doesn't mean your old one dosen't work anymore / you suddenly need it..

badly in need of something and you don't even know what you need? iphone and ipad are two completely different things...

seriously, it really seems people buy apple eyes closed, without even thinking about their (supposed) needs. if you want to be cool, and you can afford it, then it's ok, otherwise you're just victims of the advertising and rumoring.
didn't want to offend anyone, just want to make people think a bit before spending their money.

personally....

I have owned all 4 Iphones and though this white iphone looks awesome it is nothing new... where is the Iphone 5? or Iphone 4gs? no one really cares about the new color... Iphone fans want the new and improved phone! now i agree the iphone 4 is still way up there on the totem pole but still just like the Iphone 3g the Iphone 3gs brought few but much wanted additions to a phone. i think a Iphone 4gs is a must if not then build the iphone 5 but dont leave us dry with the same phone with a different color. i do belive that should of been done like a year ago when you first released the iphone 4. I highly doubt apple will recieve a hug growth in sales with this....

I'm tired of people asking me if my 3G is still working. My old RAZR is still working too. What's your point?
Here is one thing none of us needs: psychology comments on a technology blog.

I hope nobody buys any white iphones. The whole thing just annoys me for some reason.

i've been thinking the same as you, iphones are just needs-we-didn't-need, but with times and curiosity and much advertising, all this became natural and necessary.
i wish i could get back to a phone that just calls and texts, but sadly i'm too used to have internet/facebook on-the-go, and i just love the qwerty keyboard to text.
those are the only two things i would miss, so i was thinking to find a cheap used iphone 2g and sell my 3gs:)

I saw one in the wild.

Employee at an AT&T store in Charlotte, NC had one last week when I stopped in to purchase a car charger. He said they are probably going to be out soon, but mentioned that he is having problems with the proximity sensor. he said the screen display is staying on when he is on calls and that his cheek/ear are activating display controls. Could it be an issue with the bright white reflecting too much light into the sensor?

Does a proximity sensor work off light? (Honest question, I'm ignorant)

From personal experience with my own phone I thought it worked by doing exactly what the name implies, sensing when your face is close to the phone, not by determining how much light there is?
