That makes sense, but since the 26th is a Tuesday doesn't that mean that it may ship on the day of the announcement? Don't stores usually get shipments on Tuesdays? Correct me if I'm wrong.

White iPhone 4 to Launch on April 26th?

Every time I hear a rumor or some news about the white iPhone (and oh my, there have been plenty - "It's coming, it's coming") I always think about when I was like 9 years old and my uncle, to get me out of his hair, used tell me to stay guard at the edge of the camp site and keep a look out for "snipe." Man how I waited and waited . . .
I'm getting the feeling that the white iPhone is our version of the ever elusive "snipe." We'll laugh about it, talk about it, but never really ever get a chance to actually see one. Oh well.

As much as I don't like Apple extending the life of the iPhone 4, I think this iteration of the iPhone has been the most timeless. Even thought it's 10 months old, it still holds its ground compared to the competition. Also, it doesn't feel like 10 months at all – I feel like I lined up for it just 3 months ago!
Since they had all this time to prepare, I wouldn't be surprised if they announced the white iPhone and said it's available immediately. People would go wild!

Yep! I think Apple nailed itself on this one, it they arent gonna come out with iPhone 4 this summer, this will be a way to increase sales until then. Besides, its like the Wii getting a new color and everybody goes crazy for it bcus its the first time they've done it.
So what will happen? I guess its just avoiding competition, last year you guys remember all those Android phones coming out? Evo 4G, Galaxy S, Droid Incredible? By moving it they'll have more room during the holidays, iPhone is the new iPod these days.

There are likely people waiting for contracts to run out before getting an iphone. People waiting to switch to Verizon for instance. Now they have the option of a white iphone. The iphone 5 will likely be out late fall or early spring. But the iphone 4 is quite a good phone.
Look unless you are constantly chasing the latest and greatest then you are going to miss every other iphone model. I have the iphone and by the time my contract runs out I will likely be getting the iphone 6. I will miss the iphone 5.

What if the iPhone 5 actually IS coming out in June, and Apple started the rumors that it wasn't coming until later, so they would have an excuse to sell the white iPhone 4?

There will be an iPhone 5 this year.
Last year iPhone 3GS sales dropped dramatically once the iPhone 4 'prototype' leak was out.
This year Apple is trying to squeeze as much as they can out of the iPhone 4.
I'm still holding out for the iPhone 5.

If apple is selling a white ipad2 and now a white iphone. What are the chances will see a white Imac again or perhaps a white ipod touch in the future.
Do people really want a white iPhone that badly? Honestly I think the original black one is more attractive.

I don't think Apple ever intended for people to upgrade from a black iPhone 4 to the white one... This is an extra push for folks that are in the middle of the bell curve to upgrade their iPhone 3G or 3GS.
MacRumors is filled with folks pushing the leading edge of the curve. The fact that the biggest threads are the "release day, I just got my new iThing" threads says a lot. The white iPhone is too little, too late for people like us.

exactly the point. to some people like me , my favorite color is white . to me i think white looks sexy and being that i had to get another iphone and im still within the 30 day period . i would gladly do a swap . to some people white is the color they want . if it wasnt about color every car would come in black. gotta change it up a bit . im stoked and would love to get the iphone 4 in white . even at full price why would anyone complain??? we pay $499 for an ipad that is a "luxury" item??

In saying that though, many people do just sell their contracted iPhone and buy the latest unlocked iPhone direct from Apple.

but then I think iphone 4 is powerful enough to hold a lot of those "dual core" phones for another 6 months or so...........
look at how HTC is pumping up new phones all the time

My wife and I really enjoy our rooted Droid Xs. My mom wants a Droid X so she agreed to get the Ihone and trade me. I think changing it up and getting the iPhne, won't be a bad thing, that way we can have one of each of the best of both OS. I'm glad I don't have to switch to AT&T for it either, never considered a iPhoe till now. Don't know how long before the bionic comes out so I'm willing to be the oddball with the phone all my friends have, in a different color.
To the "10 month old phone" crowd: Whatever. It's still great tech. It runs circles around most phones on the market. Does everything have to be bleeding edge?

Thank god we all don't have to like the same thing, or think the same thing is "attractive". I find black hideous, quite honestly. Unfortunately, my fanboy-ism drove me to purchasing the iPhone 4, even though I absolutely hated the color. I can rearrange two words in your post, "Do people really want a black iPhone that badly? As much as the White iPhone 4 is sexy, I guess my dream of an Aluminum-back iPhone 4 is shattered... At least for the time being. I would love to see a white front with aluminum backing...
true, but you cannot deny potential sales will be lost from people who cant wait and will go for a different phone.
my contract is up in June, and i will be pissed if i have to wait until september.
