Do you prefer BLACK or WHITE iphone 4

I voted black iPhone...

...because the white looks a bit toy-like, in my opinion. Of course, I haven't seen the white phone in person, but the black looks very classy, both in person and in print.

Hi.
I know this topic is a few months old but im having some doubts about iphone colors.
I have always said that if i could i would most likely get the white one, but now that i can im not sure. The black one also looks nice but i feel that white is like the "Apple color" and the black looks more classy/professional than the white one, i don't know. Also the screen doesn't look so small in the black version, even though they are the same size.
But i do have some questions:
1-Does the black one is more prone to fingerprints than the white one? They won't show as much on the white one?
2- Is there any problems caused by the white color (possible disconsolation or getting dirtier easily)?
3- Do you think the white one is to flashy or gets more attention? Because i also like to take me phone when i jog outside and i didn't want to have something that got to much attention. My current phone is black and in a whole black arm band its not that noticeable.
4- Also im thinking that after a while i might be tired of the white, i don't know. If you have a white one, did you got tired of the look or regretted it?

yeah, i still haven't given my answer to the carrier. I would wait for the 4s/5 and want to to be honest but i can't get it for free like the regular 4. Im still plan to talk to my carrier to see if its possible to wait for it or to get a lower price on it , even tough they wont talk numbers i will try anyone- i would like the 5 but its more expensive and the regular 4 would be free.
But anyway, seeing that are two version on the next iphone i will still probably be facing this choice

1) they get the same amount of finger prints, but are more visible on the black model.

2) the white won't discolor. dirt around the home button will be more visible than the black one.

3) In that case, black would be less noticeable .... but really, it's the same. People know you have an iPhone if you've got a phone with just a screen and 1 button the top.

4) this is based truly on opinion. No one can answer this for you.

My opinion? go look at them side by side in the store and just pick whatever you like better. Don't try to make yourself like one particular color over the other.

Thanks for your answers, it was helpful. But I really am confused. Im going to get an ipad 2 and that will definitely be white, no doubt there. So maybe it will be to much white devices?! and its more the whole keeping it discrete with the phone because people maybe recognize it better if its white, i just dont want to draw attention because of it.
Fingerprints on phones drive me crazy so that would be a positive point to the white but black does feel/look different, more professional maybe.

I mean, if you keep anything visible, it will draw attention to itself. I'm not really sure what to recommend about that. But personally, I don't really mind the finger prints that much since they can just be wiped off easily. If you're certainly going to get a white iPad, then maybe you should go with a black iPhone :D then you have both the colors. I personally like the iPad in black and iPhone in white .... but I'll probably end up getting both in black so they match my laptop.

the ipad will be white for sure because i dont like the black and white as love at first sigh. I considared the black because of what you said, different colors, but now i just saw pictures of matching white iphone and it looks so cool.
i think i shoudl go with the black, it will draw less attention in the street and so i can use it thinking that people are checking out the iphone lol

I wouldn't worry about "drawing attention" ... they both draw attention imo.
If i were you, I'd just go both with white (since you seem to be leaning towards that).

Indeed, it looks great.

I think you are making me switch my mind :D

I have a black one but, in hindsight, now I wish I had a white one. The white looks really sharp, IMO. Yes, you still get fingerprints ... but the white does seem to hide them better.

I'll get a white model next time. Just to be different!

Also, scratches are harder to see on white. My first generation nano looks perfect!, but upon close inspection, it's horrible. Maybe i'll post some pics

Indeed, it looks great.

Black slate phones are a dime a dozen, pure white smartphones on the other hand have quite a unique look to them. I really like the style and the physical benefits it brings having a white version instead of black.

Doesn't even have to be the iPhone in particular. I mean the Galaxy S II also looks way better in white:

I agree. Pretty much every electronic is black (not just smartphones, but TVs, game consoles, blu-ray players, etc.). Having a white device just looks nice against the mass of black electronics in my house. That's why I have a white iPhone 3GS, a white iPad, and I intend to get the white iPhone 5. Also, the HTC Radar looks good in white too. I may pick that up as a backup phone.

You guys convinced me, and it seems im convincing more people:D. The white iphone it is =D And the picture of the white iphone+ipad looks great.
You are all right, all gadgets or electronics are white, its good to have something different. I wanted also an ipod touch in the future and it was probably the white one and i planned to take it to jogs with me, i guess i can take the iphone or even try to conceal it a little. And when i think about it, the black can be easily recognized too, just the other i passed someone texting on a phone and just from seeing the profile of the phone i now it was a i4.

Well im not so sure again lol
I still have doubts about the black iphone and the fingerprints situation. Does it get fingerprints and smudges easily? What about scratched?
About fingerprints, this is what im afraid:

I believe they are not as noticeable in the white one, like it was already pointed out, but i sometimes i look at the white one and its like its not really an iphone, because im used to see the front of it always black its like im not getting an iphone ( its strange, i know)

Case + screen protector

Protects from fingerprints,

I would still go with the black, its the trademark color, no one can go wrong with that.

Thieves would easily spot a white one and snatch it...

I just did an early upgrade from a black 16GB to a white 32GB this week. I know the iPhone 5 release is probably right around the corner, but a white 4 with 32GB is fine by me. Unfortunately it acquired some nasty scratches on day one. Got it activated and handed to me in the ATT store. Put it in a case before leaving (no screen protector). When I went to close my car door after leaving the ATT store it tumbled down between my seat and the driver's side door. Looked fine but the next day in bright sunlight noticed 3 or 4 scratches (two of them can be felt with my fingernail). I was P.O.'d but What are ya gonna do? Threw myself on the mercy of Apple and ATT, but no quarter was to be had...as expected with user damage. At least the scratches don't seem too bad under indoor light with a screen protector on :p

I got a black one last July and HATED the white one until I saw it in person... Needless to say, 4 days before my warranty was up I listed my orig on eBay to see what I could get out of it. My husbands' old crappy motorola slider died and he was leaning (or being pushed :D) toward an iPhone.

Anyway, mine sold in 24 hours for $445 + shipping so I upgraded us both to brand new iPhones. Black for him and white for me. I was nervous about white so the best buy salesperson told me to take white and try it for 30 days and swap it if I decided I didn't really like it. Needless to say, every time I look at it it makes me smile! No regrets!!

As for finger prints, I kept a case on my black phone the whole time because I couldn't stand seeing finger prints on BOTH sides. Now I just use a white bumper and don't notice them at all (except on the screen, of course)

I like the white one and i loved it when it came out and said if i was going to have one it would be white, but now even tough i still like it and dont as much as before, maybe its because im undecided in colors.
The white one would probably caught more attention from possible thief's like it was already pointed out so i don't want to put more attention in the phone that already gets some attention.
The thing with the white is that the pictures you see are indeed gorgeous, the back of the phone looks great and even in profile, but in the front is to much white =/ even tough i love this design, the white was better in previous versions. For me white is the apple color/trademark, but black is the iphone color/trademark =s
As you can see im completely lost in what to choose lol

By the time you pick a color the iPhone 6 will be out

I love a white back with a black face. Not all white though.
Just chatting with the wife last night and asked her what she thought about the white iPhone: "it's for women, couldn't see a guy carrying one around"...
