How is white Apple's colour? They were beige for A LOT longer than they were white. White was just an Apple design phase, like coloured plastic before it and aluminum and glass after it.

Probably getting the black one (matches my current set of wheels), though if it's a choice between a White one, and "no iPhone for you", I'll take the white one.
I've nothing against white. Both my iPods are white, I've owned two white cars, so it's really a toss-up.

Am I the only one that think the white one resemble stormtrooper? That was my first thought, with its black face and white backing. And stormtrooper is far from feminine.
I love the metal look of the original iPhone, which is why I have a clear case to show off it's metal back. Black is boring, every darn phone out there comes in black. I'm not into the stormtrooper look
so I'm holding out for the red one.

Black and White are both nice but black will get scratched and show finger prints more easily, white would not. And if you want "white" but you think people think its feminine, who cares, if your paying "300 bucks" for a phone get the color that interest you more.

I think white calls way too much attention. Wanna see how cool it looks while you hold it in your ear? pretend a mighty mouse is a phone, put it up to your ear and look at yourself in the mirror.

I really like the idea of the white one (wish it was white on both sides, though)...because it would match all my other mac stuff.
(Although the white on black is pretty cool...and could be pulled together with a cool wallpaper image)
The black is a little more elegant, and I would get a case or sleeve for it to help keep it clean. (especially in the abyss that is my purse.)
So, I guess it comes down to the moment I see them in person.

Don't worry about the black showing scratches or the white looking dirty over time. By that time you will have worn out the high that accompanies the new purchase and it won't bother you so much.

I am going to try and get a white one because every dook nozzle will have a black one.
Which will make the white ones cooler. They will be in shorter supply and the cool people that don't have to follow along with the majority will have them.. making everyone else envious.

Yea... I'm not getting black because everyone else it... I'm getting black because I don't like the white one and am not going to pay 100 bucks for the 16gig. Hell, I can paint it myself.
This thread and a couple of other threads here have shown and/or discussed the extreme smudginess of the black model, which seems to be a fingerprint magnet. So my question to those with the original iPhone is how feasible a case is. Do you use one? Is it a hassle? Does it detract from the overall appearance?
I'd rather buy a less expensive black phone, but I hate the potential messiness of the back. I'm just wondering if a case that covers the smudges up will drive me crazy in other ways. If so, perhaps I should just spring for the white.

I'll probably get a case anyways. I don't have an original iPhone but I think they are too big and wide to keep in my pocket all the time. I have always had flip phones and it'll be a lot different.

I thought that as well, but who know now! Apple was totally headed in the aluminum/polished direction, ditching everything white. But now, they release the White Plastic iPhone -- totally confused!
