True, i guess i would have to test that out. But as i said, my hands are BIG. I was worried about them cramping being i would have ZERO wrist rest area I'm used to. Even my bottom of my palms land on the wrist rest area on my 13" MBPR instead of my wrists. I actually enjoy plugging my up to a external and using a FULL SIZE keyboard A lot of times. I watch a lot of TV in my room with the big 65" on the wall, and honestly i always either have my iPhone 6 plus with me, or the 13" MBPR. To me the MBPR feels light. When i felt the MBR the first time i was like OK, this is STUPID light  lol.

But i get what you are saying. Thats why i stay out of the Apple store, so i can already trick myself into thinking what i have is light lol!

If your hands are that big and you're used to using a 65" TV, the 6 Plus, etc. and the 13" rMBP feels light to you...then of course you should stay away from the rMB.

WELL..... Only until V2 and they make a "choice" of screen size . My dream machine was the MBA 13.3" with a retina. Obviously thats not going to happen as i see it getting axed by next year, at least the 13".

However if they could kindly put out a 14" MBR in V2 by next release. Than i would for sure part with my MBPR 2015 :D. Until than it will serve me great! Im going to put Windows on it once W10 comes out. I really want to try the play your Xbox One via cloud or whatever its called on the Macbook. I bet that would look nice. Just something to try out :p

12" & 14" MBr would make a lot of sense also it would ease the demise of the Air.

13.3" is as big as I go. I also think a 14" version would be just going bigger for the sake of going bigger. They went 12" because they had to, that was the smallest it could be while still accommodating a full-size keyboard. I think a lot of people like that.

Amen to that! Along with V2 will bring a nice little spec bump processor wise i believe. A 14" screen in the "footprint" of my 2015 MBPR would be PERFECT, for me. Oddly the MBA has a longer "footprint" than the MBPR, obviously they needed to spread stuff out more for the "thinness".

I understand road warriors, or people on planes often would still love the current 12" version. Or someone who was used to the 11" MBA size.

Yup, that's why I'd stick with the 12" version even if a 14" one came out.

Yeah if i were on planes or on the road a lot i would prob 100% pick up the 12" as well. Opening even a 13" MBA or MBRP on a plan would be a little tight etc.

Actually...I've been using the 13" rMBP on planes for the past 1.5 years. It's been perfect. I see a lot of people complaining about it, but it has never been uncomfortable for me. But I still want an even more portable machine, hence why I'm going for the new MacBook.

OK, I guess I can say I officially changed my mind. Was going to go for silver, got gold instead. ;) I will catch some flak for it, but it's just plain gawgeeus.

I do like how the gold looks. But I'm still going with space gray.

Agree 100%. Plus loosing the 1.3" in screen is fairly noticeable. Being a bigger guy with bigger hands, the new MBR sort of small to me. Well it sort of is being its in the footprint of a 11" MBA. BEAUTIFUL but not really what i need with my big paws. I picked up a 2015 MBPR today with the new track pad for $1177 from Best Buy out the door! Also have a $50 coupon coming my way being a elite rewards member. Much more computer spec wise with a sturdy footprint for a non- road warrior.

To me... The MBPR is still light and thin as hell being i don't travel and all and just use it around my house. I hope they bring out a V2 next year and fit a 14" display with Skylake. NOW WE ARE TALKING! The extra wrist space found on the MBPR & MBA 13.3" models is valuable to my big paws.

Enjoy your new rMBP! That's probably my next computer.

Yes, a 14'' rMB would be sweet. Hmm, that could also be my next computer...lol.

I am really interested to buy this new Mac Book, so I was watching a lot of YouTube videos and most of the comments basically saying that they can't believe it only has a core m compared to say Dell's XPS which has i5.

Is it true that this core m is lacking? If so then why would Apple use it? I don't know much about computers.

And some said that a camera on their 2011 MBA is better than the camera on the new MB, so again why would Apple do that? I can't understand if they already have the technology and the price tag is so high, why not offer the best they can.

Thanks!

So in 2016, they can announce-with great flourish and fanfare-that along with the newest intel cpu/gpu, it has....A BETTER CAMERA!

This is a new launch of a new product, so purchasers will be paying attention to the new design and features rather than eyeing the specs of part of the hardware.

iPad launched without a camera. When some complained, Apple Apologists argued that there wasn't space for one.

iPad2 was introduced, which had a (crappy) camera despite being half as thick. AA's* defended the decision based on size, weight and power constraints.

iPad 3 launched, which had a slightly better camera despite the tablet having a much bulkier and heavier retina display and battery. AA's.....

Apple is getting ready to become the first trillion dollar company, don't think for a minute that they are not Jedi masters at playing the long game.

As for the core-m, that's the only low power chip that can power the retina display without a fan in that size of enclosure.

*And by AA's, I mean people who are currently addicted to the kool-aid, not those people who used to be addicted to booze. These AA's would defend any decision made by Apple even if they made infant formula..out of actual infants!

Not if the 14" display happens to have a smaller footprint than the 13" MBA much like the 12" display vs 11" MBA. The footprint is all that really matters.

I got to see one at my local store yesterday and I must say I was totally underwhelmed. The display was good but it ends there. I prefer the old keyboard (but could live with this one), but I found it very slow when loading advertisement-heavy pages, much more so than the MBA. Couple that with reviews that say it's a bit of a niche product means I won't be getting one for sure. I was also underwhelmed by the Apple Watch. My thought as I left the store was "What has happened to Apple?"

sadly, I gave up after not even been able to find a display model in a week.

got a 2014 Refurbish mba at half the price (once you factor in dongle).

Sadly I already ordered some USBC cable from Monoprice. I guess i will wait for gen 2

Maybe, but silver is still the least exciting good choice. Maybe it's the option for those with modesty, or who prefer stealth. Or for the third guy in line...

I was set on silver, but seeing the gold in person opened up a question in my mind, and the fact that that was all that I could lay my hands on yesterday did the rest. It's very good looking. I was thinking "bling bling bling" - not so much.

This is true. By the way, I've got a great idea for v2. Eliminate the bezels and move the FT camera down to the bottom corner of the lid. What do you think??? ;)

I would expect the 14" to not to have a bigger footprint than the current 13.3" that and Skylake the current Air can be "pruned" without issue, equally pricing would also need to drop some.

I agree, i still find it odd my 13" 2015 MBPR has a "smaller" footprint of my 2012 MBA 13". And the MBA has the larger screen bezels. Im guessing the fact they need to spread things out because its thinner with the battery.

Finally got to take a look at this thing and it is a beaut. BUT. It is so slow. Jeez. Webpages load seconds later. Fast scrolling it's a white space........then the web page. Open an app. Wait. Open an app. Wait. What was Apple thinking with this processor? I'll pass until sky lake or later.

That's a much touted argument.

But if the argument is that Apple maximise sales and profits by withholding features, it does seem to assume that most people replace their computer every year.

I would very much doubt that most people buying the new MB this year will buy a new one next year if it has a speed bump and a better camera.

Which processor would you have used?

I've looked at this notebook several times over the weeks since release and didn't have any of those issues.
