Now I'm confused. BMSSM says N71mAP. Geekbench 3 says N71mAP. Antutu says TSMC CPU. But, under model on basic information it says Apple A9 APL0898. Anandtech says APL0898 is Samsung's chip. Any ideas? Do we really have any idea what chip is in our phone?

What did you use to verify that?

N69uAP here, battery life excellent roughly 10% equals 1h of my usage.

I think those apps are full of bugs, if we follow the previous chipgate the extra letter like N71mAP was for TSMC cpu. Why would apple change that? It would create more confusion.

Idk why they chose it but they did. And the one with the extra letter for the SE is the Samsung.

Wait, so N71mAP shown on the free BMSSM app and Geekbench 3 is officially iPhone 6s with TSMC A9 chip? What is N69uAP?

N71mAP is TSMC it has been proved before. This is 1n iphone SE thread, N69AP/N69uAP...

We don't know for sure what is inside N69uAP, those apps are bs and not updated for the new model and to be sure we need to run geekbench battery life thread and see which model last longer.

I'm starting to think nobody knows for sure. There are quite a few discrepancies with a lot of these apps. Wether it says N71mAP and then says APL0898, which would denote Samsung's N71AP. Antutu seems very unreliable to find out what chip you have as do the others.

It really doesn't matter all that much but I would like to know for sure but there's no way in heck it's worth opening my phone haha.

Sorry, I didn't realize this is an iPhone SE thread. But I seriously don't think you can prove TSMC or Samsung in any 6s or 6s Plus with any of these apps, let alone the SE.

You just need the model number for 6s and 6s+ because we know already for sure that m=TSMC.

It's just for the SE where it's more complicated (for now). I need to buy a second SE and if I'm lucky enough to have a N69AP model this time, I'll do a battery test of both models.

This is what confused me though. I used 5 apps and all 5 confirm N71mAP. Here's a pic of Geekbech 3 showing N71mAP. Now look at this pic of Antutu showing under basic information APL 0898. APL 0898 is Samsung's chip (N71AP). Underneath CPU model we have TSMC. What do y'all think of this? Sorry for hijacking this thread!

For SE owners, I think I was wrong, N69uAP=samsung and N69AP is Tsmc

Explanations: for N69uAP the model is s8000 which we know to be samsung (from 6s and 6s+ Release).

Cpu identifier seems to be the best to identify cpu and more importantly provides some stats, only 17% of tsmc cpu for SE (among users of this app...)

Damn it... Samsung this time... I had TSMC chips for my 6S... GOD DAMN IT... Returing it today, will keep change until I get TSMC... Not gonna spend my money on subpar parts...

Best of luck I think this will not be easy if stats from cpu identifier app are accurate.

And if you add the yellow tint, and low stock to the equation... :)

It's likely they are shifting the Samsung CPUs to the SE since it's the cheaper model. Not a big deal I still get great battery life and I had the Samsung CPU in my 6S too =/
