I don't use always on display on any of my devices - AW, Garmin Epix or iPhone. They use battery life - not noticeable on the phone but definitely on the watches, and can be distracting in some situations.

I can see how they would be useful for some though.

It wasn’t a big deal to me, but I like it more than I expected. I like that Apple made the entire screen visible rather than just part of it.

I don’t understand the rush to blame it for battery drain. Yes, it uses some battery. If you don’t like it just turn it off. But this early to claim it’s impacting battery to any significant degree is just speculation without any tests to show that.

I decided that I hate the always on feature. It seems so pointless to me to see a faint clock and a faint wallpaper image. I dont understand why this was such a big deal to have in the iPhone.

Regardless, this is my opinion - What do you think of the Always On Feature?

I've never cared for Always On. I have it disabled on both the AW and 14 PM

I think you get the widgets to update too, so it’s not quite that useless.

(3) OLED burn-in.

Whilst burn-in is less of an issue with pixel shifting, there's a heap of research out there showing colour degradation related directly to brightness and time turned on. This effects each colour pixel at different rates leading to colour shifts over time.

I turned mine off, mainly because without a sleep focus, it does not turn off at night. I prefer to just use DND and not set up a sleep schedule. Even at its dimmest setting, its too bright.

Just so you know you can not set a sleep schedule and just turn on/off sleep focus manually. That’s what I do. :)

I do like it, but my phone is nearly always in a wallet case, so it's kind of a moot issue to me.

I keep it on for situations where I’m not wearing my Apple Watch or the phone is sitting in a different room. When I don’t need it it just put my phone face down.

I think its a Great Idea and I use it. I like the fact you can turn it off. The lack of a SIM Chip was a Pain in the Ass to configure and the Manhattan Beach Store could not install it or pair my Watch! So I had to go the T Mobil Store and spend 60" to download the eSIM, How FK'ed Up is that? Oh Well that's Progress So they say!

It’s one of the reasons I’m tempted to keep my 14 Pro. My car has one of those older Bluetooth radios in it, so I keep my iPhone mounted to a MagSafe vent mount. The AOD keeps the screen very dim while driving at night, and I can easily see the time and where I am in my podcast or song.

It’s rubbish. Never used it on android nor will I on iPhone

Probably the feature that makes the most difference to me. Saves me what feels like a hundred taps a day as it sits on my desk. I don't have to wake the screen to check if I missed notifications. I can check the weather without waking the screen while I make plans. While charging the phone I can just glance over without tapping to see if it's charged up yet before I unplug and leave. No noticeable impact to battery life.
And that right there is why just about every phone manufacture has had this feature for the past, idk? 12 years? I always liked AOD on all my android phones in the past - and I like it even more on the 14 pro

AOD is fine with the watch. On an iPhone, nope. I kept mine off. It’s always in the pocket anyway.

Just turn your phone face down at night. That deactivates the AOD.

The always on display will gain a lot of functionality for a lot of people after 16.1 w/ live activities launches and devs can give live updates to the DI and AOD. I personally think this will add a lot to it.

Wow, 60 inches? Ridiculous!

??? How so (on both counts)?
Battery percentage needs some sort of graphical representation too something like this
2AF44C6C-E55C-449C-AEC5-BE6631BBFEC6.jpeg

I prefer to be able to know i need to charge my phone or not by a simple peek on it rather than having to bring it close to my face to be able to read battery percentage like the need to read a message

Always on display is confusing since it’s practically the same as home screen but dimmed down , so you might think that u got a new notification

Apple have just done the bottom ones in the new 16.1 beta 2 release

Freakin love it! Saves me so much time furring my work day making sure I don’t miss a text/call/email/reminder

No need to pop a corpuscle by hating it, just turn it off and move on!

I never even saw it on my 14PM as I turned it off first thing. My Apple Watch replaces it for me.
