Exactly. I don’t see one. Just toggle on/off 🤬
I've heard a couple of others say this but it never goes off for me after a certain time, at least I'm yet to see that since I received my Pro on launch day. The only time it goes off I presume is when its in my pocket using the sensor.

Just so you know you can not set a sleep schedule and just turn on/off sleep focus manually. That’s what I do. :)
You can't run DND and Sleep at the same time, and I cannot set schedules for sleep like I can for DND.

Just turn your phone face down at night. That deactivates the AOD.

I have the Belkin MagSafe dock, so my phone is face up.

I find it quite useful so far, but I can’t make my activity rings widget to work. When the screen is dim, the widget only displays three full rings, which makes the widget useless. Does anybody know how to fix that?

Battery percentage needs some sort of graphical representation too something like this

I prefer to be able to know i need to charge my phone or not by a simple peek on it rather than having to bring it close to my face to be able to read battery percentage like the need to read a message

Always on display is confusing since it’s practically the same as home screen but dimmed down , so you might think that u got a new notification

Doesn't the graphic update with battery depletion if you turn the percentage off under Settings > Battery? I thought that was the idea behind this option: numerical (%) vs. graphical.

I don't get the complaint about the AOD, because the screen being on is obviously the whole idea behind AOD - there is no other way to implement it. Just turn it off.

You can have both at the same time graphical and percentage it doesn’t need to be mutually exclusive as apple implements it
As for AoD I personally prefer android’s implementation for it just a black screen and few notifications, clearly differentiated from how the home screen would look like eliminating the confusion of mistakingly thinking your home screen is on because u got a new notification

Yes, but you seemed to indicate you don't read the % number:

so why not just turn it off?

Yes, but you seemed to indicate you don't read the % number:
I like to read the percentage number when i am using my phone , but occasionally when i want to check the battery of my phone when its laying on the desk or on the bedside table i would prefer a graphic that can be eligible from a distance the design would be more ergonomic that way

As for AoD It i wish that apple will modify it to make it distinctive from the normal home screen

I hope my dissatisfaction doesn’t hurt your feelings 😂

I don’t hate it, but much like voting in an election, it’s pointless to me… I have kept it on though…

Do you know what else is pointless… the activity widget on the Lock Screen, whenever my phone is locked it just shows an arrow… so what is the point in that widget???

Was that remark really necessary to tack on? I'm simply trying to logically work through your complaints. You did not mention until now that you also like to read the percentage.

All good bro , but i did clearly say initially i wish apple would modify features like AoD , then you replied dismissively “why dont you just turn it off “ instead of commenting on the proposed change

No, I was talking about the battery percentage when I said turn it off, not the AOD. That's not dismissive - that was a suggestion based on the info you gave me about not wanting to read a percentage (before you later clarified that you sometimes do want to read it).

Also, you probably already know this, but a workaround until Apple changes the battery level icon is to simply swipe control center down to see both the percentage and a graphical depiction of the battery's charge (or use a widget).

Ah my bad , I mistakenly thought the second quote was on AoD sorry for that 🤣

I'm using the weather wallpaper with AOD on and I really like it. The background changes with the time of day and it's an easy on the eyes background for looking at apps.

Off. I don't need my phone distracting me even more than it already does.

I use the phone.

The phone does not use me.

Love it. Never wanted it and thought the idea was dumb, but now I love it -/ can read all my notifications as they come in without even touching the screen or lifting the phone.

You can also just apply a black wallpaper to the Lock Screen which will give you an Android like AOD and further improve battery life

Don’t turn on percentage and you’ll know you need to charge by the mostly empty battery icon.

Huh?

The screen full of app icons ought to be a clear indicator that you’re on your Home Screen.

AOD is a dimmed Lock Screen.

Same exact thought here, off after the first time I saw it. I actually miss the old notification lights my old Samsungs had. They let you know something was waiting for you in the least interrupting way.

My first Samsung without a light was five years ago. Still miss it. I guess tech moving on isn’t always a good thing.

I don’t hate it but I did turn it off. I see the appeal for others but for me, my phone is either in my pocket or face down on the surface in front of me. AOD isn’t exactly useful for me in either of these situations.

So far I love it.

Clock - handy to view at a glance.

Notifications - really like knowing if there's something I might need to attend to without having to pick up the phone and unlock it.

Also, I added a widget showing temperature/weather and the other side my next upcoming meeting.

Nice thing of course is that those who dislike AOD can turn it off.
Agreed, I think it’s great. I keep my phone on a Belkin wireless charger stand while working, and it’s much more convenient to take a quick glance to see if I’ve missed a message notification (I keep it on silent and have music playing) rather than having to reach over and tap the screen.

I don't "hate" the feature but it's not something I would use. I can see why people do like it but I find it redundant as I'm always wearing my Apple Watch.

Glad that it's a feature that can be turned off for those of us that don't want to use it.
Would say the same. Plan on upgrading and almost always have my Watch on so it’s unneeded to me. I’ll take longer battery anyday.
