There's 2 mutually incompatible groups here:

"I encase, therefore I am."

"I go naked, therefore I am."

Still, it's pretty harmless entertainment...

Just ordered mine and it's on backorder from T-Mobile. Thinking about doing a half measure and making my own case from simple materials just to keep scratches off the back and sides.

I'm naked now. With my best friends. Are you jealous?

I want to go caseless desperately because the phone really is gorgeous. But I can't get used to how it feels in my hand - the edges and the corners are pretty sharp. The Apple case really gives me that minimalist design that doesn't make the phone bulky, and has saved my ass more than twice when I've dropped it on the ground. Would have easily been dented/scuffed/scratched had I not.

I use apple leather case on both iPad Air and iPhone 5.

In my opinion an iPhone 5/5s without a case is a suicide. You can be extremely careful, but it can dent even without a drop, just hitting the edge of a table or a wall ....

If you want something as close to naked as possible, just get a Caudabe Veil. I just ordered some from their website. Had them in the past and they were wonderful. They're not for the clumsy types, but for those who take care of their phones they're pretty good.

Antiglare screen protector because I don't like wiping fingerprints off all the time.

Otherwise I don't really care.

On occasion I might sport a case. Usually forced by GF to use matching cases. :)

Case = protection from bare metal antenna

I prefer to have no case, however, the only reason I use a case is because I think it is a potential health risk to have my skin touching a bare metal antenna. Beginning with the iPhone 4, bare metal antennas were placed on the outside of the phone. This delivers more radiation to the body. I don't know if that will result in health problems in the future, but I don't want to take that risk. Apple fanboys will try to condescendingly shame anyone who points out the danger of holding bare metal antennas (just look for replies to this post for proof).

I use a black Apple-made bumper for my iPhone 4S, and if I ever get a black 5S, I will use a black Apple-made case. If upcoming iPhone 6 has a similar design to the iPhone 5C (i.e., all antennas on the inside), I will not use a case.

Not saying you're wrong, but if a case/bumper doesn't attenuate the signal is it offering any protection?

when i had the 3g, it lived with case and screen protector always. i never dropped it, but the plastic back started to crack around the dock connector anyway.

towards the end when the phone was getting so slow and laggy that i had little love for it anymore, i decided to live a little and take the case and screen protector off. it felt so much less bulky, and the screen felt so much more vibrant. it kind of made me question the benefit to trying to maintain a pristine product at the expense of fully enjoying it...

with the 4S i went case-less. and immediately dropped my phone on concrete within a week of doing so. :roll eyes: amazingly, it only caused some really small scuffs on the metal band.

i know its probably blind luck that the phone has survived case-less, but going forward, i'd rather spend $100 on applecare+ and continue to enjoy the device!

Just keep in mind that these iphones aren't built to survive falls , pockets, and rough handling
Be safe.use a case. There are several sleek cases out there that don't take away from the sleekness of the IPhone
