Who here passed on the 5s this year and waiting for the 6?

I'm still on the 4 and it's painfully slow with IOS 7. Two things keep me from upgrading to a newer iPhone. First, I'm on Verizon and to get a subsidized phone I have to not only give up my unlimited data, but pay more for the privilege of having less data. Second, I can keep my plan (as things stand now) if I pay full price for my next phone. If I'm going to pay full price for a phone, I want it to have a bigger screen than the current iPhones have. I'll stay put with my old slow iPhone 4 for now, but increasingly it's becoming the device I only do texts, make calls, and listen to music on. My iPad meets the rest of my mobile needs.

I’m waiting for the 6.
I have an sluggish iPhone 4, i would have upgraded to the 5s if only had a bigger screen. I”m really looking for a bigger screen, I can’t bare this small screen anymore. If the 6 doesn’t come with bigger screen, I’ll have to look for another phone

My wife and I are on staggered contracts, and she doesn't care about getting the latest iPhone every year, so that works perfect for us. This year I got the 5s on her upgrade, next year I'll get the 6 on my upgrade, etc.

She gets a one year old phone that has been well cared for. She'd still be using her 3GS if I wasn't pushing upgrades her way. :)

The 3GS was the last S cycle phone for me. So yeah waiting on iPhone 6. Honestly I still enjoy my iPhone 5!
Never did the "S" myself. 3G, 4, now 5. I love my i5.

I will also wait for the iPhone 6, b/c I see no reasons to switch to the 5S. I don't play that many games, so the new graphics chip and CPU will count for nothing, and the touch ID I find no use for it. My current iPhone 5 is in prestine condition (not a single scratch), only the touch digitizer screen has been acting up & I'm sure Apple has me covered in that dept. So I can hold on on my iPhone 5, until the rumor times near June or October of 2014 for the new iPhone 6 (or whatever they'll call it).
Same here. I find the touch ID intriguing, and convenient, but passable. 6/6s for me.

I'll be waiting for at least the 6s. (...) I'm perfectly fine with my 5.
:D

Nothing to debate for me. If there is a new iPhone flag ship, I buy it, old one goes down to the wife or gets sold off.
No snark intended, thats awesome. I wish i had the $$ to experience each iteration.

Seems like quite a few people here have no sense of control when it comes to spending. The "might as well wait for iPhone 78" replies are a bit ridiculous if you ask me. Nothing wrong with keeping a phone for two or three years, as long as it does what you need it to.

That said, I'm still on my iPhone 4S which I got in 2011. I got a Samsung Galaxy S4 this year, which I unfortunately had to return. However, the time with the GS4 taught me two things.

1. No matter what I previously believed, iOS is still superior to Android for my usage, and I cannot move to Android.

2. I do need a larger screen.

That said, I'm awaiting the iPhone 6, I cannot wait to see what it brings to the table in terms of design and features! I'm a bit bored of the iPhone 4-5S styling, seeing as it has looked more or less the same since 2010. Also, after having used the GS4 during the summer, the camera of my 4S leaves a lot to be desired.

Also hoping for a redesigned MBA with Retina-screen. :)

I only upgraded as I needed more space. 16 gig was not enough. Although now that I have it I am glad I do. My friend got a 16 gig 5s with me on launch day and he now wishes he would have at least got a 32 gig. I have to take a lot of photos for my work so I need the space.

my iPhone 5 is working perfectly except for a few crashes once in a while due to jailbreak .
I really want a bigger screen due to my aging eyesight. Please apple stop making us wait.
I don't want to be forced to switch to Android just to see my phone screen bigger. I'll wait for iPhone 6 then decide.

I thought exactly like you 6 months ago, wanted a bigger screen coming from an iPhone 5. I went to the HTC one which is an excellent phone and lost that and went to the galaxy s4. I liked both phones but not the size of the actual phones they are too big...

I think apple shouldn't go any bigger than 4.5" otherwise the phone itself will be too big and they may remove the home button

The Galaxy S4 and Android's inferior platform led me to come back to iOS and iPhone 5 6 months after originally selling my old one, although I must say I really liked the HTC one.

I am waiting to see what Apple does next.

I have passed on the ......

4s
5
5s

So long as Apple continues to produce phones with screens that a too small to work with I will keep my iPhone 4, or get a Nokia 1020 or 1520. ( I hate Android )

If the screens are too small, why is the iPhone 4 still acceptable?

Remember when the iPhone 4 came out and people used to think that we might get the iPhone 5 and they didn't know the 4S was coming?

Not worth it. Even if you're upgrading from the 4/4S.

I upgraded from the 4s and felt it was well worth it: better camera, LTE, better battery life, faster, bigger screen, TouchID, it weighs less, and I like the design. If you can upgrade I don't see why you wouldn't. My contract was up so I upgraded.

It's not ... that is why I am looking at the Nokia phones!

better camera
It's a phone, not a camera. Need a camera, then get a camera!

bigger screen,
Not really, well ok they stretched it a tiny bit in one direction but it's not really bigger.

I've read about the issues with TouchID.

it weighs less,
Yeah the iPhone 4 is a real heavyweight!

I like the design
Looks just like the iPhone 4 after someone ran it through the ringer of an old washing machine!

If you can upgrade I don't see why you wouldn't.
Because to a practical person, it doesn't make sense!

:D

Got a 5S on launch day, stood outside the AT&T store for 2 hours to get it. Went from an original iPhone in early 2008, to a 3GS in summer 2009, to a 4S in fall 2011, and now a 5S.

I don't mind being on the "S" cycle one bit, as the bugs/issues from the even year models get worked out.

I'm waiting for the iphone 6 because there is rumours that it will have bigger screen than 5s has now.

I had 3G and then 2 years after that I got 4 on the launch day.
I'm still on 4 and will get the 6 probably. The only problem I have is that iOS 7 is a little bit laggy on the 4. To be honest, 4S,5 & 5S are not that massive upgrades for me except the camera. Yes, they are faster, lighter but thats about it. At the end of the day you want your PHONE to be fast enough to use it, take great pics etc. So I guess that the only thing for me to really need is the camera improvement as the other tiny things are progress guaranteed.

Skipping 4S&5 (I might get the 5S, will see) because I didn't have money for it then made me realise that I wanted to upgrade only because of my DESIRE and not NEED. I guess thats the same for most people and those that upgrade every year are crazy for me as I doubt they NEED a technology that they didn't know about.

So, with iOS 7 i actually hit the NEED button as the 4 doesn't cope so well anymore. Not to mention that my home button is dead and I have to use the accessibility feature to use it. Would be happy to have it fixed if the iOS 7 wasn't so laggy on the 4. Not gonna pay £120 for repair that will give me a phone that is still laggy but home button works. If they offered 4S when I pay then I'll be happy to pay and would even be happier to wait for the 6 or 6S :))

My wife's iphone 4 on ios 7.0.4 has no performace issues, iow, the phone operates within her expectations. I also bought my 5s to keep my unlimited data. Maybe ill sell the 5s when the 6 comes out. Since the 5s is unlocked, i can expect to sell it between 50% and 75% if i manage to keep the condition pristine.

If the 5s is not a massive upgrade from the 4, neither will be the 6. That is not hiw apple works. The 6 will have updates from the 5s and you get to decide when said updates become massive.

I'm waiting for the iphone 6 because there is rumours that it will have bigger screen than 5s has now.

They are going to have to do something, I mean how can they ignore the rest of the phone market.

Samsung brought out the Galaxy Mega with a 6.3" screen

Nokia brought out the Nokia 1520 with a 6" screen.

Apple brings out the iPhone 5s with a 4-inch (diagonal) screen.

Even the Nokia 1020 with it's 4.5" screen seems much bigger than the 5s.

I like Apple's IOS over all and I really do not like Android at all.

So if Apple doesn't step up to the plate we may replace our five iPhones with the Nokia units.

I was using a 4S up until now and decided to finally buy the 5S. Just got it delivered today and so far, I am happy with it. Love that with the touch ID, I can set up more than one finger depending on how I am holding the phone.

The 5S feels like a solidly built phone. I may skip the 6 and just stay on the S cycle.

This is a very sensible route to take! Follow the S! S = same model but improved and redesigned internals. Guinea Pigs buy the first model and the sensible buy the (S)

Do people really think that the next model is going to be the one!? No its going to be the beta version like all the other first models and you guys are paying for it! I let you guys buy the first model and based on your disapproved feedback to Apple , the S comes out fixed or at least more solid tweaks ! That's the time I buy!! ;)

I've been holding off buying an iphone since 2009. I forgot all the models I passed up.
