I want to write on a web page in Safari using the Pencil. I do not want to scroll the page with it.
Just like this:

And by the way, I want the web notes to be automatically saved to iCloud and always available for me when I load that web page, and also synchronized on all my devices. Do you hear me Apple?

Yess! I'm looking for the app that allows me to do this with Safari Extensions. Does anyone know what the app is called?

Skitch? Doesn't work anymore on my iPad Pro (and Evernote, the owner, ceased development). All I get is blank screenshots.

I won't be upgrading to 9.3 either if the public release doesn't revert back to UI Navigation. Its one of the main reasons why i bought the iPad pro and it is how i use it daily. Might be different for others but i feel its silly to release it with the ability to use it this way and keep it for months (~4months) through 2 prior OS updates then just pull the carpet and completely remove the feature. I have sent feedback and emails out to make my case well see how it goes.

I also have a surface pro 4 and you can scroll with the surface pen. When you want to markup the webpage you press the button in the microsoft edge toolbar and the pen turns into a markup tool. IMO thats the correct utilization of this tool that gives you the best of both worlds.

I think this is another case of jumping to conclusions before the facts are out. There are a million reasons why any given feature/operation may or may not be available in a Beta - from the mundane (it just wasn't 'turned on'), to the practical (the focus is on new features), to issues (a new feature is interfering with this feature and it's low on the priority to fix, so it gets fixed between last beta and final release), to audience testing (we have an idea for something cool in the future, but it would require us to disable this feature - let's see if there's a huge outcry if we remove it), to... Who knows what. There is a possibility that they intentionally removed the feature as well.

Personally, I won't be worrying about it until 9.3 is officially released. I'll see what impact it has with the Pencil before upgrading.

Not too long ago, Pencil functionality was broken entirely in the 9.3 beta...

I wouldn't be surprised if they did this. It feels like the iPad Pro has been rushed to the market. iOS is a huge disappointment for me.

Any concrete example of features you want? Other than file system -- that's already been mentioned a 1000 times.

UI optimizations (in iOS and Apple's apps), Web annotations in Safari using the Pencil, a basic download manager in Safari, Back to my Mac for iOS... and other things I can't remember right now.

i love
Just downgraded from 9.3 beta to 9.2.1 and glad to have that option to scroll if needed :)

But for how long until we get itchy feet i wonder?

So far, the pull of 9.3 isnt grabbing me enough. The cons outweigh the pros. But what about 9.4 or 10.0? It's like desktop software - even if the upgrade is fairly so-so, you should still generally upgrade out of principle. And we do.

For me? Dunno. I'll wait and see. I still have a sneaky feeling the UI scroll option will be bought back in for public 9.3.

If not? I might purchase a good high-end small nibbed stylus and give that a blast. As i asked earlier, take away the Pencil's 'special' features, how does it stack up as a regular capacitive stylus against it's competitors?

So i spend a further 50 big ones. Hardly the end of the world.

Surely it will get fixed when the actual update comes out?

Apple may have lost some edges in design and usability but I still don't believe they will actually release a major update that breaks an important selling point/accessory for their newest product.

I won't. Ive only had my pro a few weeks but they will have to give me a reason to update it. I don't use the pencil to scroll too much but it's nice to have that option.

turn off that particular notification in settings
OK. I give up --- I've turned off a number of things in "Settings" but the annoying "Upgrade the iOS version" pop-up still appears.

Could you explain exactly where in Settings this can be turned off?

Thanks.

I'm not sure it can be turned off. The only method I found and I can confirm it works because I use it is to go to Settings, General, Storage and iCloud (something like that) then go to Manage storage, select the iOS update and delete it. You have to do it every time a new iOS is released (unless you update) but it's completely worth the 10 seconds to do it instead of getting asked to upgrade countless times.

I would check firsst but as someone else said they haven't finished the Beta yet. Unlikely Apple would intentionally release a live update that kills one of the biggest features of the IPP>

I wouldn't go as far as saying "one of the biggest features of the IPP". It's wasn't even documented as a feature or highlighted as a feature by Apple to begin with.

I was referring to the functionality of the Pencil. Isn't that one of the major "draws" to the IPP?

Not for everyone. I have the iPP, but no Pencil -- I don't draw, and I don't take handwritten notes. I like the iPP because of its larger screen. Even among people who use the Pencil, I would think drawing and writing would be the major features, and scrolling with it is just a little extra thing that was useful, but not the main reason why someone would buy a Pencil.

And it still is a major "draw" to the IPP in 9.3. Not being able to scroll, something that technically was never a feature or promoted as a feature doesn't suddenly "kill one of the biggest features" as you put it. It was something that was by the looks of it, unintentional.

I've said this before but for any hope of Apple allowing it again wouldn't happen until after 9.3 releases and gets "re-added" in the next update after (either 9.3.1 or 9.4.) Because not a lot of people run beta, not a lot of people have an IPP, not a lot have an IPP WITH a Pencil, even fewer run beta plus have an IPP WITH a Pencil. So not many will even know until they update next month and realize they can't scroll. It's not until then that Apple will see enough feedback to really consider it.
