Still having issues with the display not waking on mine.

Had half a dozen support calls with Apple now. In the latest they said it‘s likely the fault of the monitor, as it probably doesn’t support M1 Macs. I contacted Samsung (the display is a S24F350 - not a new or high-spec monitor I know) and they weren’t all that helpful, simply saying that a PC monitor may sometimes struggle on Mac OS 😔

I’m at a loss now. I am in the market for a better monitor (which presumably wouldn’t have this issue??) but had hoped to use the Samsung as a second screen. But that might not be possible unless I’m prepared to power off the Mini almost every day...

I do wonder whether a fresh install might help? I started this Mini up using Migration Assistant (transferring from my 2011 MBP). I‘ve heard that a fresh install is better, but not sure it would help with this? (I suspect it would be a bit of effort...)

I still have issues with my Magic Mouse 2.

I've disconnected my USB 3 hub, I've disconnected my second monitor (USB C to HDMI adaptor), I've disconnected my external SSD and left with nothing but a monitor and one sounds card (USB 2).

I've also disabled 2.4GHZ WiFi completely and tried to use safe mode.
Further more, I've tried to reset bluetooth module and factory reset all bluetooth devices but to no avail.

I'm quite lost really. Every 1-2 hours the magic mouse stops for 10 seconds, then says "disconnected", a few second after "connected" again but it won't move, then "disconnected" and finally 5-10 second after it says "connected" for the second time and it's all back to normal.
Exact same behavior pretty much every 2 hours. Not sure what to do.
Exact same problem with mine - 2 simultaneous disconnects / reconnects at a time every 2 hours (ish) when I'm hard wired to the network.

If I turn wifi on - it seems to happen a little more regularly. Also tried remove all USB devices & it makes no difference - the issue still comes back!

Its still far more reliable than the 2018 mini with eGPU that it's replaced - other than the mouse disconnects, it has never missed a beat!

My "base" M1 Mac Mini is currently rockin' a 28" Samsung U28E590 display at 5120 x 2880 @ 60Hz via HDMI-2.1, leaving both USB-C / Thunderbolt-4 ports open for external storage. My monitor has two HDMI inputs -- one is 30Hz and the other is 60Hz (with a compatible cable). I assure you the Mac Mini has no problems driving this gorgeous 5K display smoothly at 60Hz via its HDMI output.

I’m not tech savvy, but how does a 4K monitor display 5K?

Well for me things have smoothed out. Two external monitors have settled down recently. I don’t know why, as I’ve been running BigSur 11.1 as soon as it is available.

I was initially worried that there were some hardware issues that would not be easily fixed. I did have some weird Safari issues a couple of days ago. I couldn’t resize Safari windows via the menu green dot/button. I rebooted and that hasn’t appeared since. Memory issue? I don’t know I have 16GB and 512 storage. I do run Tidal music, Mail, Message. But usually that is about it.

Edit: Just when I thought I was out of the woods, I got a crash while the M1 MacMini was sleeping. Oh well:rolleyes:

Have any of you guys with BT issues already done the factory reset trick from a month ago? Seems to have solved it from what Ive seen.

Mine becomes unresponsive, sometimes a screen saver turns on and can't get out of it, apple mouse disconnects, keyboard becomes unresponsive.

Overall this thing is a POS. I'm gonna wipe it and reinstall macos and see if that helps.

Aside the known BT connectivity issues it works like a charm after some initial setup problems (which might be down to me coming from Windows and it being my first Mac).

BT would be only for the airpods pro to watch movies. Haven’t tried any workarounds, hoping they can roll out a fix with an update.

Have my Logitech mouse and keyboard hooked up with their usb connector anyway.

I could just about handle the issue with the display not waking when it was only happening overnight (it's irritating to have to power the machine off, but not the end of the world).

But now it's just happened when I'd only been away from the Mini for 10 minutes to make a coffee. I've lost work as a result of having to power the machine off.

I'm really irritated right now.

A Work-Around suggestion to those of you who with monitor issues:

Set the Power Settings to Always On both your Mac and your monitor.
Use the black "bouncing Apple" screensaver.
Keep it on 24/7 (that's what I do with my Macbook Air + Samsung 4K monitor)
The electricity bill will hardly notice.

Finally got around to trying BT on my M1 MacMini. BT to Master & Dynamics MW60. Stutters/dropouts every 15-20min. Thanks:rolleyes: Tim

Had my mini two days and I want to love it, but the BT issues are very annoying. I sit down to work and try to wake the mini, move the BT mouse, tap on the BT kb, nothing. Finally I have resorted to plugging in a wired KB and mouse to use it. Hope a fix is coming for BT issues soon.

My Internet connection is really poor on the M1 Mac mini. I get 70-75mbs on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air M1 but less than 10mbs on the Mac mini. Got no idea why

Is it possible to try a WIRED connection to the Mini via ethernet?

If it is, I'd suggest using that instead.

I will have to try that, will need moving the whole setup to the room where the router is. when I did the speed comparisons with my iPad, iPhone and MacBook Air I was right next to the Mac Mini so I‘m totally confused what’s up. I bought it from Amazon, might end up having to return it- it was a rash moment purchase anyway, don’t actually need it!

Pretty Ironic that I haven't had any bluetooth problems, however FCP is a disaster (and its the main reason I bought the M1). FCP will not let me edit off my external SSD. It will let me create the library/project/import media but as soon as I begin any color grading/rendering it crashes with this message.

"FCP cannot save to SamsungT5. Storage location for one or more libraries is no longer available. The libraries will be closed so that not work is lost."

Just to test FCP another route without using the SSD and it couldn't playback 8 bit h.264 with simple color corrections. As I'm seeing tests on youtube of people editing 6k and 8k raw with multiple titles, plugins, and color corrections with smooth playback I'm guessing there's an issue with this M1 I got. Going to try and call Apple, see if they have a solution.
