Who in here still rocking the Black MacBook

I just found myself a very good deal locally, an unused and brand new MacBook Black 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Long story short, this guy bought 2 MacBooks (white and black) at local Apple Store and forgot to even use the black one. He used white more often. Today, he is in need of cash and the black MacBook was the only thing thats left on his closet. Put this beauty up on Craiglist for a steal. I found it, and paid him cash directly.

The unit is very clean since it is unused and I am amazed on how cool the black MacBook is. I installed my spare Intel 320 SSD 160 GB that I used for my unibody MacBook a while back and this thing screams!!. I'm now in the market for 4 GB memory upgrade:D

Just curious, how many of you guys still actually use the MacBook as their second or main computer? Is it a good Lion machine? Tell the stories.....

Congratulations, I have one. I am posting it using the same macbook as yours. 120GB Intel 320 SSD with TRIM hack, 4GB RAM on Lion. It boots pretty fast (under 30 secs), wake from sleep instantly, sleeps fast (set thru terminal to sleep not hibernate), shuts down in a second and geek bench score - 3729.
 
That is a very nice computer you got there! Up until the purchase of my new MacBook Pro, I was actually rocking a black MacBook 2.16 Core Duo as my main computer. If the thing ran Lion, I would've just kept using it!

It is a very nice computer, and since yours is Core 2, you can run Lion with no issues at all.

I wish Apple would have continued making the Black MacBook & added backlit keys :).

I still have my mid-2007 blackBook. It was my main machine until I got my iMac a month ago. I only had 2gigs of RAM and it ran Lion flawlessly. After I bought the iMac, I pulled the 2gigs and put them in my Mom's 07 iMac so she could run Lion and I downgraded the blackBook to 1gig running Snow Leopard. I now only use it for Safari. Actually wouldn't mind selling it.

Thanks. Yeah I am currently running 10.7.2 with iCloud with no issues at all. Very nice computer. I wish too!, But I think Apple make black laptop every 10 years or so. The first was the PowerBook Pismo, then this MacBook. Whats next? Maybe a black MacBook Pro.>

My girlfriend has the 13" MacBook Pro and I can say that this MacBook is WAY Sexier. It has a lot of sexy angle in a way that is also rare and unique of its kind. :apple:
 
Black MacBooks are rare indeed, but it is just one of the rare models and nice to have.

Install SSD on it, increase RAM and you will see a huge increase in performance.
 
it looks like you got a great deal, but one thing that I don't understand...

how could one forget about a brand new computer waiting to be opened?! It would haunt me at night if I had one lying around not allowed to open it :p
 
Lovely Black Mac

:apple: :) I have mine with some Common UPG. Ram to the Max & HDD works beautiful just now because of work I installed Parallel with Windows 7 Ultimate I'm not a fan of windows but works just fine. I wish Apple present a 15 or 17 in Black Mac Pro :D I definitely will be the first one in Store....:cool:
 
I use mine as a desktop connected to a 24" Samsung monitor and use a Apple aluminum Keyboard and MS mouse.

I had one just like it brand new in 2008 but had to sell it after a few months and got exactly what I paid for it. I always missed it so I bought the above one used on CL last May.
 
I have mine!

I got lucky and bought it from my brother. It's a 2007 Santa Rosa 2.2ghz with a 500gb HDD upgrade and a 4gb RAM upgrade. It's my first MacBook, and it's my baby!

I'm wanting to pick up another top/bottom case for it, and a new keyboard cover. Also I want to put a PowerSupport Anti-Glare screen shield on it.
 
Nice to see everyone here is still enjoying and some even missing their MacBooks. That's exactly what went on my mind. I first purchased a MacBook black on my trip to NY back in 2007 (it was a 2.16 Ghz I believe), then I had to sell it in need of hard cash.

Now, things are different and I somehow missed my black MacBook. I decided to give CL a try, and found one! Im so lucky!!
 
I have my Black Macbook.... Its awesome! The best colour for a MacBook (in my opinion) .
It runs fine on Snow leopard... dunno about lion... yet...
 
I got my wife a used (2007, I think) black 'Book and it was running run up until three days ago. Our youngest spilled some liquid on it (AGAIN) and this time it doesn't seem to want to come back up. However, the Mrs. said it was acting a little funny beforehand -- not charging when the adapter was plugged in, for instance.

I'm hoping I can get it repaired for relatively little. It's a nice machine. Its HD is larger than my white 'Book (2009) and it still has the psuedo-numeric keypad!

ETA: we let it dry out for a couple of weeks and SHAZAM! It's back up! I swear, Apple builds these babies Ford-tough!

I still have mine, bought it new in late 2007 and it is running Lion just fine, it's was my main rig up until a few weeks ago before I got my late 2011 MacBook Pro.

Getting my very first Mac next week and it just happens to be a black one from early '08.

Specs are:
2.4Ghz C2D
2GB RAM
250GB HDD

I'm pretty excited... time to learn Mac :)


UPS says it'll be delivered on Thursday... I'm not the patient type so a full week is going to be painful.
 
I still use my mid-07 Blackbook as my main laptop. Still pretty fast for a 4.5 year old machine. I've noticed that I'm starting to get more of the "Apple makes black ones?!" comments a lot more then I used to. I think the red Apple logo helps.

You will like it. As others stated here, it is still fast enough for the first Mac.:D

Congrats on getting a really great looking Mac!

I've always thought that was one of the best looking of all. A great size for good portability, and very sleek in Jet Black.

I personally don't as I just got my first Mac.
Too of my friends do though.
One has a black macbook with a 140 gb Hard drive? the machine is in great shape and whenever we are sitting with eachother doing work people say wow! your mac looks so cool.
My other friend got it release day and it is still going strong. It runs Leopard though.
