If their goal is to sell computers that'd probably be the #1 best seller of all time. Maybe throw in the Pro speaker grills or a port on the other side for people that want their desk setup with cord on right. (or just an SD card reader please) Other than that the Air just seems like the perfect computer for 95% of people, and if these things keep getting more powerful and cooler it can continue to handle an even bigger chunk of professional tasks.

Only reason you'd go Pro at that point is for hours of gaming, 3D Blender type work, really big or long video work (8K RAW/1+ hour edits/etc) or if you just need to pump stuff out super fast in very little time like same day turn arounds.
Or in my case.. I just REALLY like the faster speed, better and louder speakers and display... :)

Wondering, anyone with the 15" air experience some bugginess? Hard to explain, but I noticed when in iphoto, when you usually click on a photo it should expand to become larger, but that is not happening, emails are slower to open. Not a huge issues just noticing here and there (I have the 16gb/512) model.
thx!
My one is now doing that along with taking 30 seconds or so to rotate an image which is already downloaded locally. I'm going to make a Genius Bar appointment as I'm in town next week anyway.

yeah, I had two guys who were then the third came by and was like "oh easy fix"! sure enough it was.
They've kept it in so hopefully find out what it is. The weird stuttering and almost constant yellow memory pressure is back too, even with a clean build. I'd started removing programs to see if I could find the issue, but no joy. Luckily it did the same behaviour when I was in the store, so they're going to do their hardware diagnostics and a fresh build too.

They're still baffled by it and are talking to a manager about options - I'm due a call tomorrow...

In the meantime I'm using someone's 14" MBP and I really miss the larger screen, fanless (cool) design and the comfort of typing thanks to the larger place to rest my hands.

Am picking up a replacement Air tomorrow.

I don't think I'm going to miss the 14" MBP I've borrowed these last few days... Its nowhere near as comfortable to type-on... the added weight/bulk is very noticeable (I don't think there's much difference weight-wise but as its more compact, it just feels heavier)... but most of all, I miss that 15" screen. It makes such a difference in normal use, but even mores when you're trying to have a couple of windows open at once.

So, am home with a replacement Air. They didn't have any in Midnight available so its space grey, but I'm ok with that.

What's really interesting is that the weird Photos behaviour doesn't happen on this one and the memory pressure is low green whereas on the last one, it would be into the yellow consistently with the same number and type of apps open.

I'll use this for a couple of days and see how it goes, but its promising so far.

Just got an open box silver base 15" MBA and... it will remain to be seen if I can use it as an all rounder or not (for the hour I've used its been on my desk the whole time, plan to use it on couch shortly..) but I think there's no way I'm going to return this thing. Beautiful, crisp, bright and even display!

The silver looks fantastic too, I'm reminded of my 15" MBP I had from the 2007/2008 era.

So after a few days of this laptop with an identical set of software on it, there's no slight stutters and no weird Photos bugs/beachballs. Memory pressure is green where it was yellow on the last one with the same set of apps open.

Very, very strange... but I'm delighted with it as it means I don't need to get a MBP to do this workflow.

So your previous was a lemon essentially?

Very happy with my new 15" Air. Got a transparent case for it. Looks great. Definitely keeping it

Just got a base space grey for 19% off Amazon AU, I can claim the 10% tax back too, so will test it out, wasn't that impressed with the midnight when they came out.
I have a 24" iMac for storage so just wanted something to use out of my home/office around the house.
Nothing intensive so hope it works out, 29% off is pretty good.

Do you have a link to that case?
Bought it on Amazon India. Don't think it can be shipped outside India (other than to Bangladesh or Sri Lanka). The link for the case is : Amazon India

Many such cases are available on Amazon US website. Links for two such cases: Amazon USA and Amazon US.
The above cases seem good, though I have not used them. More options are available for similar cases on the US Amazon site.

The screen and speakers are awesome and it’s great to have MagSafe back. I don’t mind a full size function row either and Touch ID.

And it’s pretty light for it’s dimensions

I don’t think I’d be happy with a 14 or 16 inch pro, even price aside
That’s awesome! I think the big screen offers way more productivity
