My hands must be smaller than yours cause when I rest the X on my pinky no way I can use it with one hand / 1 thumb. Doesn’t pass ‘walking the dog test’. I can use it with one hand sort of if I rest it on all 4 fingers and if I’m standing stable but if I’m standing on the bus it flew out of my hands. Plus I use a case that’s more protective than the Slim Armor. I prefer to be able to hold it securely and my thumb can reach all corners. Can’t do that with the X. X is not a bonafied 1 hand device.

I don't know. Maybe they are. I wear small women's gloves. Sometimes extra-small depending on the brand. Men's gloves are definitely always too big for me. So, if your hands are smaller than that, maybe that explains it.

As I have told you before, I can walk my cat just fine using my X one handed. I can also empty the dishwasher, and do whatever else one handed. I do use reachability and the one handed keyboard sometimes. I don't need to reach all four corners with my thumb much to use it so to me that is not really relevant for me, though I can if I jostle phone in my palm a bit..or I can just use reachability. I rarely will rest my phone on my pinky finger, sometimes if I am using my thumb to type. Otherwise I move my fingers and hand as needed. Feels pretty secure to me, and I have yet to drop my phone.

The Spigen Slim Armor is pretty protective, though maybe not as much as an Otterbox.

Never was fan of big iPhone's. Coming from iPhone 7 the X is a sweet spot for me. Love how the screen goes edge to edge and that Notch which never bothered me. I think iPhone X is great hardware and software combined both and will lead the coming iPhone generations.

Thanks all for the replies. One of the reasons I am asking is that I don't really have the chance to just buy one and live with it for a while. In the upgrade program I will turn in my 7 Plus when I pick up the X, so I can't just decide to go back to it. Of course, I think if I don't like the X, I could return it for an 8 Plus, but I am not a fan of returns. Anyway, I have toyed with the X at the Apple store enough to think I should give it a try.

I am slowly gravitating towards the X now (I have a 6+ now and am deciding between the s8 or the X).

For me, being with the apple ecosystem (but slowly transitioning to google services) this phone makes sense for my next purchase. If it was maybe $200 cheaper I would have gotten it day 1. With the price I wanted to see it in person at a store and I am impressed.

I can justify (not happily) the price as I use my phone constantly like most and need something that just works.

Don’t turn your Plus in. You can test drive the X for 14 days. If you like it you then you can turn in your Plus.

Sooooo. If you had to sum up your thoughts on the X in one word I’m guessing it would be... uh.. fashion.

I would say you guessed wrong. Based on the OP's original post, it seems they were indicating the new changes to the iPhone X are much appreciated and different from the last four generations of iPhones.

I’ve been an avid and loyal iPhone and Apple customer before the 1st iPhone. I’ve always upgraded to the latest and greatest iPhone release.

I kind of feel like your comment. The X is the most premium and sexy device on the market today. But when you ‘open it up’ it’s just another iPhone. Being ‘just another iPhone’ isn’t a bad thing at all. But the premium hardware doesn’t coincide with the software, doesn’t feel right. The 6/7/8 hardware coincides with the software more and feels right. Utilitarian / industrial hardware with it’s utilitarian simple type software. They jive together.

I absolutely love mine. Went from the iPhone 8 Plus, as I thought I was gonna skip the iPhone X. Just couldn't resist, especially after reading the (initial) reviews. So I decided to take the risk and get one after all.

And boy, am I glad I did.

The design is great. The 8 Plus felt pretty big in my hands, although I got used to it for quite a bit. But it's not like I went backwards with the X, even though some people do feel that way. In fact, I'd say it's more like an upgrade. It's good to have the iPhone 6/6s/7/8 size back again, despite the bigger screen.

And man, that screen. I know I sound like I'm exaggerating here, but the iPhone X literally has the best display I've ever seen in a phone. Not that I've seen many other phones with an OLED display, but with those I have, the colors were not accurate at all and the display as a whole was just... not so good. But when I watched a 4K HDR video on YouTube I was really blown away by how beautiful everything looks. It's an incredible display.

Then there's Face ID. It works. Sometimes it does fail to recognize me at the first attempt, but for a first generation version it works pretty damn good. I've seen people complaining about the speed, but let's not forget that the iPhone 5s and 6 had a Touch ID sensor that wasn't as fast as the one on the iPhone 6s and later. Even more so, Face ID uses all these sensors to make it actually work. Being able to do so many tasks in just two seconds or so I pretty amazing I'd say.

What I also love about Face ID/TrueDepth are its privacy features. Especially the one where you have to unlock the phone to see your notifications in a detailed manner. Or where the screen starts dimming and you start looking at it to let iPhone now you're looking at it. Pretty cool!

There's a lot more to it. But these three things for me are the most important reasons why I wanted to get the iPhone X, and why I'm happy with it. :D

I love the X, don't love True Tone. I have the X and iPhone 8 Plus but in lower light conditions with True Tone on I find the screens difficult to read, it just makes the displays too yellow/beige tinted. Was thinking, 'damn, I need varifocals' but True Tone off or brightness ramped right up then no issues reading. Had True Tone disabled now for a few days and what a difference.

Maybe its the LED ambient lighting in my house but it makes True Tone way too yellow, like night shift mode all of the time.

The X, love the screen, love Face ID, works flawlessly. Love that the home button is gone, the gestures are great and simple to use, took maybe a day to get used to them.

Only problem is that I now swipe haplessly at the bottom of other phones to close apps etc. Will probably mean that I will be first in line to pick up Face ID enabled tablets etc in the next few years. Haha

Great phone, even starting to give True Tone the benefit of the doubt. Best part of the X by far is the screen, just sublime. Set to the correct brightness for me (i.e. quite low) the screen just looks like print.

Regardless of the many people on this forum that are critical of the X, it is clearly the best phone Apple has created and is selling a ton. Most people come to forums and complain while the people who are happy with their phone are just that, happy. I find it to be an improvement over every previous iPhone and it has been a joy to use.

The only hiccup really is the home indicator line which screws up a lot of apps and is bad UI. Devs hate it too.

No real reason to go to the 8 Plus from the 7 Plus. The phone will feel identical (design, performance, camera) in a case aside from wireless charging. I found the jump from the 7 Plus to the X to be a great upgrade.

I do like the X but am seriously considering returning it and buying a One Plus 5T and get 800€ back (!). It would be bad to have to sell my Apple Watch but for me the price difference of 800€ is so high that I have difficulties as a tech person to understand what Apple does with their RIDICULOUS high pricing.

I wish I could still return mine. I have had every iPhone and I have a bunch of other Apple products. I don't know if I am just bored of iOS or not, but I really am not excited using the X. I would prefer to try the Note 8 for something different and the ability to customize. But, I am passed my 14 day return window, so I will just wait until next year.

It is definitely the best iPhone ever created, but I am getting bored with the iPhone. I also would prefer a larger screen coming from a Plus.
