when I called apple and asked what time my order went into their system, the times matched exactly. The time stamp in the confirmation email is exactly 1 second behind the time apple has for my order.

Dear Apple: Take my money or I'll sue you!

- Sad customer.

Lol. Lol. Lol. And some more lol.

This makes no sense, I'm 12:03:22 (PDT) and have yet to be charged.

Simple - despite what they say, they are most definitely being arbitrary with which orders they fill. Just like they said *most* people would get theirs at launch.

How did 300-800 watches per boutique 'magically' appear?, despite repeated statements about online only. :)

My only hope with this duck duck goose game Apple is playing is that my 12:08 PST/3:08 EST order will be chosen. ;)

There must be something else at play.

So far we know that we are queued by:

  • Countries
  • SKU
  • Order Time

Perhaps we should add "region"? Do we know if there are more than one distribution points in the USA? Do all models originate from KY?

I don't know about region. Could be since there are mutilple distribution centers in the country. I did see a lot of pay charges last night. That could be a factor as well.

Haha I'm pretty sure it's just one or 2 people, wherever they are, per distro center simply pulling the next ticket in line per SKU.

Before launch day it looked pretty clear on the UPS plane map a few of us have been following that they are all pretty much coming from Louisville. At one point, there were probably 10-15 planes leaving Louisville and all going in separate directions all over the country. It was neat to see visualized on a map. So I would think it's safe to say that most of (if not all) of the watches are going through Louisville.

EDIT - I meant to quote someone else's comment. I must have clicked the wrong one...sorry about that.

Is that how distribution happens though? Literally asking, I have no idea.

I would think it would be all computerized, and not someone manually pulling anything. Also this is happening in the other "model-specific" threads.

From the minimal research ive done on a few threads RE: Shipping, there is definitely more than one distribution center. Some orders have come from PA, some from KY, and some from TN. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one in CA as well, at the very least. If that's true, then that definitely is a deciding factor.

I don't know how it works exactly. But I certainly DON'T believe them when they say they are truly filling orders as they receive them. If that is because they have so many overlapping supply lines then they could never guarantee that so they shouldn't insult us by saying that line.

It is just inherently random as to which orders will be filled next. That's what's wrong.

I think I believe that order time is an element. I just don't know if I believe it's the only element.

Let's see what happens. If we have a lot of pre :08 orders still languishing by the end of next week while cats who ordered April 24th and on are seeing movement I wouldn't be surprised to finally get some more details from the mothership.

Delivery Date

All of you who are sniveling about your orders need to look at your order confirmation and see that if you received the first delivery date it says 4/24-5/8. Apple never promised you that they would get it to you on the 24th. There are to many variables that would make it impossible to give you the 4/24 delivery date such as carrier issues etc. Orders are pulled in the order they are placed but your delivery date also depended on the watch configuration you ordered. It's completely possible for an order to go from Open to Prepared to Ship and Shipped in a matter of minutes. Seriously....to go to these lengths to see if you can figure out why you didn't get your order yet is amusing!

Don't mistake my curiosity of complex things for distress.

That said, your distress about my supposed distress is also amusing!

So I'm not someone who is going any length beyond posting what my current status is, but why would you join in a forum discussion based solely on peoples want for this product and expect to see anything less than what you see? Did you really just join MacRumors today and make this your first post? The reasoning behind people being upset about this affair has been clearly articulated by several members.
