I use my black MacBook (2.2GHz Santa Rosa, 4GB RAM, 160GB HD) daily for hours. Solid machine. Can run months without a reboot.

But... I will be replacing it with a 2.4GHz aluminum unibody MacBook within a month or so - wife's original 2.0GHz core duo white MacBook is being handed down to my youngest daughter, so my wife will be getting my black MacBook, and thus I'll be getting the new one.

My daughter needs a machine to run her kid programs and my wife has outgrown the 2GB RAM limit on her current machine (well, outgrown meaning she keeps tons of apps and documents open constantly, so the machine slows while doing lots of swapping). And of course, I'll just have to suffer with a new unibody MB

And so completes the circle of life... :)

I found a 2.4GHz blackbook 4GB/160GB on ebay... I might have to jump on it. I reallllly miss my 2.2GHz model.

that's an amazing deal. Blackbooks could be collector's items in a couple of years.

Last week my BlackBook really impressed me. Along with running iTunes, Yahoo Messenger, Camino and Line-In, I was working pretty heavily with Quicktime, iMovie '09 and Keynote '09 and it didn't slow up one bit. I was running it about 5 hours straight, 3 days in a row and it ran beautifully. The only glitch came a couple days later when I was trying to save a Numbers '09 file as an .xls file, but the box wasn't popping up. After exporting it as a .xls file, I restarted the computer and it worked fine.

On a side note, I was very happy to find the Star Wars opening title in iMovie '09. I'm not sure if it was there in prior versions, but it definitely made my day. I had been using iMovie HD but it did not recognize my new camcorder so I upgraded to iLife '09 mainly because iMovie '08 was pretty bad. Except for the timeline, I am really liking it so far.

No less than a week ago I saw a blackbook in Apple's refurb area. 30 minutes later I refreshed the page and it was gone.

It is a good machine when it is working..

I am sending mine back to Apple because of problems with the optical drive and the phone support said it was a hardware issue, but the Genius' said it was a software issue and they couldn't even find the issue.

Enough was enough, I talked to someone at Apple who was "up on the totem poll" and he said "I will be the last person you talk to about this issue, here is my name/number/extension and I want you to call me when you get your computer back and tell me if it is fixed or not. We will fix this problem one way or another."

We shall see what happens.

BlackBook Aluminum Unibodies would be a hit!!!

I miss my blackbook every once in a while :) the only thing i really noticed when upgrading is the backlit keys.

i think this thread would be better with some pictures ;)

I'm in the same boat as you about the backlit keys - The only difference is that I would still have a blackbook, instead of the unibody I have now if I never had a firmware update that crashed my blackbook over 2 months ago.

I love the black...bottom line.

Apple needs to come out with a black unibody for some style points???

..Love my new aluminum unibody, but loved the look of my blackbook even more!!

CrackBookPro:cool:

I really love my Black Book still. It is a C2D 2.0 GHz with 2GB of Ram and I just installed an OCZ Vertex 60 GB SSD. I have a brand New 2.66 MBP and a 12 inch 1.5GHz powerbook and they are all special.

i love my 2.2 c2d blackbook, upgraded the hd to 250 and ram to 4gb. recently bought the wife a unibody and she loves it, its great but the only thing im jealous of is the brighter screen and backlit keyboard. ill get a mbp one day ne way

The blackbook kicks ass! I agree with what some posters before me said; all-black aluminium wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

I sold mine ages ago, but I still miss it. I saw someone with a blackbook the other day, and old memories came back up!

ah lucky, mines forever limited to 2 gigs.

have no plans to replace it in the next couple years

i finally realized playing the most powerful computer game is a waste of money for little to show

ill stick it out with my cd blackbook and hackintosh for the next 5 or so years probably

lets see if i can have my mb last 8 years:)

it is refreshing to hear comments like this, i have a cd white macbook and to be honest i don`t really feel or see the need to upgrade to a uni body macbook just to have the latest computer, these cd macbooks still kick major arse :p

We shall see what happens.

Shipping BlackBook to Apple on Tuesday, then Apple ships me my new MacBook Pro -

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x1GB
250GB Serial ATA @ 5400
SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Backlit Keyboard (English) / User's Guide

http://mroogle.*************/ should answer all your questions.
Just look for reviews regarding the Intel GMA X3100. That'll be the only limitation.

I still love my BlackBook!

It's now has a 500GB hard-drive and 4GB RAM, pretty much topped up. I still give it a rub down with Magic Eraser once a fortnight, so it still looks sharp save for a few minor scratches and shinier keys.

/me Patiently joins the queue waiting for Apple to release a black-aluminium MacBook. ;)

I love my blackbook. I love the fact it has firewire. All of my external hds are firewire.
