Mine is a Power Mac G5, dual 1.8ghz. Over the years I've upgraded the hard drives and installed a N wireless PCI card. It's primarily a media server but with Photoshop Express, Toast, iMovie HD, Evernote, MS office 2004, etc. it still does everything I need. Plus it's all backed up using Crashplan and SuperDuper.

Don't use PPC as my main comp these days, however my main server is a tray loading Xserve G4 (Dual 1Ghz PPC G4, 2 Gb ram, 2x 160gb ata, 1x 320gb ata [soon to be added], 1x 300gb ata [soon to be added]). And apart from mucking with linux (for which i have 2 rasp pi's) everything is ppc mac, just don't think the intels are the same

Hmmm, I agree with you there. I'd love more PPC Macs :) But they're quite expensive second hand :(

I used an iMac G4 as a secondary computer until recently. I plan on using it again once I upgrade it a little more. Outside of that, I use an iBook G4 as a secondary laptop and also when I travel. I know they are not "Main" machines, but they get used plenty.

What is the benefit of a media server? And what is the exact definition of a media server anyway?

A media server would be used to store content (i.e., home movies, audio files, etc) on one central computer that other computers on the same network can access. For example, you could have a Mac Mini used to store audio files, and other Macs can connect to this Mac and play the audio files without having to download them to the local machine.

"R.I.P Apple Computer, 1976-2007"? meaning? and its a eMac y not run Leo?
Leopard is a fine OS, I used it tons on an iBook G4 I used to have. But Tiger in my mind, was OS X at its best, hands down. Eye candy was at a minimum, and functionality at a max. Not to mention the Aqua theme was perfected in this version. Tiger does everything I need, and it suits me perfectly. Why change?
Because they changed their name to apple Inc. in 2007.

They started focusing more on iToys after 2007.

Yup, they embraced their new focus.
All of this. ^^

If you could not get TenFourFox to launch under a legitimate version of Tiger then you have other major issues.
TenFourFox is a special optimized version of FireFox made for Tiger 10.4, hence the name.

People talk about Tiger these days like no one developed for it... There is TONS of software for Tiger, and I personally run Safari just fine on my iMac G4 using it. It's just finding the software versions you need to use that is the main issue.

I mean, my Late 2006 MacBook Pro shipped with Tiger.

I own two Apple products you do as well :p Do you prefer using the Macbook Pro or the Powermac G5? :p

If I'm honest, the PowerMac. I don't like the build of the MacBook Pros, which is funny because I'm on my second one. But I have no other choice in Mac laptops, so I'm stuck with it. My first MBP had the paint chipping issue, the warping, two times where the SuperDrive died, two times where the battery died, one of the fans died (due to the Genius not closing my machine right when doing a repair - I bring this up EVERY TIME, LOL, but it just makes me SO mad), and I was never really happy with it.

Lion drove me crazy on the new one, I started up my machine one day in like February/March, and it decided to install a non-exsisting software update at boot. It rendered the partition useless, I lost EVERYTHING, and I had to reinstall Lion AGAIN. Oh, and when it came time to installing Mountain Lion, it corrupted my drive that day. Luckily I had backed up everything anyway. But reinstalling OS X from Apple's slow and pathetic servers is a nightmare.

Otherwise I enjoy using my MBP, and it stays in my bed 24/7, and comes with me whenever I leave the house for long periods of time. Now that I've settled into Mountain Lion, it's 100% stable.

I really like my PowerMac much more because it doesn't give me a hard time. I only have 512MB of RAM, but it does pretty good. I have never had any freeze ups or slowdowns like I have on both of my MBPs. I don't even use it casually, I push it really hard for a really old machine still, I render, I use pretty much the entire Creative Suite package, I load heavy Flash sites, and I do it all without the fans going crazy. Unlike the MBPs which get really, really, really, REALLY hot with just Safari open.

ive heard that MBPs have nothing but problems if u dont like MBP y dont u just get a PowerBook or iBook G4?

I'm finding myself using the PowerBook G4 more and more during the summer since I want to keep the heat down in the bedroom (where the PowerMac G5 stands). In the long run I wouldn't manage with only the PBG4 because I need to do som pretty CPU-intense stuff that would need the PMG5 or my Windows PC - but as a temporary solution it's more than okay. I'm also thinking about using it for school work after the summer since I can take it with me to the library.

Because I study/work in animation. I could easily do my web design, my photography, and audio editing stuff - I already do on the G5, but I wouldn't be able to use my Autodesk software without issues with the files themselves on an iBook/PowerBook since they're all created on 2010/2011/2012/2013 versions of the software. Blender, DAZ, and Poser are all fine, it's just when you get to Maya that it's an issue.

I also don't like the idea of rendering more than small projects on old hardware. I already have things taking up 20 minutes on my 2011 MBP in the first place and it's not even more than like a room with 20 objects, raytracing, and shadows.
