I love my 3GS besides I am always looking to see what else is on the market, however I am happy with my 3GS. I will be looking at the following to make my decision:

Battery Life and size of battery

CPU and phone speeds

Screen type and look

If the three items above improve drastically I may think about doing this upgrade, otherwise I prefer to sit back and wait to see what everyone thinks.

I probably will. I have a 3G and it's battery is really starting to suck (ie. have to charge it in the middle of the day), its slow, scratched, and i will be eligible for an upgrade.

although i wanna see what the new one has to offer

as far as i am concerned... the DEAL BREAKER(s) is(are) the higher resolution screen and another carrier option (im really just talking about verizon, not so much tmobile and sprint)...

can care less about all the other new specs, although it will make the device pretty swank...

I'm THIS close to buying a droid incredible... so if the iphone doesnt come with higher resolution, I'm going out and buying the incredible the DAY of the announcement.

Depends on what kind of battery life it has for one thing. So, I’m not sure yet.

What do you do all day? Your in almost every thread I read. I mean, I know I'm on here often too, I have it minimized at work - but your like one of the first posters everytime!

To the OP's Q - Yes. You know what they say... "If it's shiney and made by apple..."

I went from 2G to 3GS. That was a good enough move and justifiable...

My 3GS is jail broken and has all the multitasking capabilities promised in the new iPhone. Which means that I'm not going to miss anything.
AT&T does not have a 4G network anyway. Video conference? Not interested.

Removable battery? No big deal.. I can replace my own battery.
What else? Who knows... The pics that have been shown from Gizmodo may just be the Verizon 4G... I'm keeping my 3GS! It's been the best phone that I have owned, and I've had many.

I have a bad feeling about this next iphone, Hope I'm wrong, But I'm sticking with my 3GS. Plus my upgrade is due in March of 2011. Hopefully the upgrade will be worth it then. I don't think it is now.

I will definitely be upgrading my 3gs to iphone 4. I love all the new features and as a developer I want the latest hardware. Also, selling my 3gs will allow the purchase to fit my budget.

After seeing the leaked images and reading the new specs of the iPhone 4G, I will not be upgrading. To me it really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. People have been multitasking for YEARS now on their iPhones with no problems. Why buy a new device and pay all that $.

Front facing camera? Not sure if that's going to be a winner.

Sure we complained about it and Apple listened, but now that I think about it do I really want my friends looking at me everytime we talk? No.

Unless the new gaming thing turns out to be as popular AND as fun as Xbox Live, there is no chance I'll be upgrading.

I honestly think, people get caught up too much into the Apple hype of new products and often times rush out to go get the new latest and greatest without asking themselves if they need it or if it is worth it.

Dude, your username is "lovemyipad" and your lecturing about how people rush out and purchase something (ipad) without asking if they need it. Too funny. My 3g is painfully slow. I feel like i'll go with the 4g but maybe just a refurb 3gs.

Considering nobody's really seen the final product, it's kind of premature to decide, based on leaked information, if you want this phone or not.

That being said, I will be getting the next iPhone regardless of what features/specks it has because my iPhone 3G broke some time ago.

How many phones do you have on your plan that you are going to save $200/month?

I have five.

Sprint has unlimited data and texting for entire family for under $200, add to that my business account savings of 15%.

Plus I will drop my home internet because every phone in my house will be tetherable mifi hotspot.

I will be saving minimum of $200.

Right now my AT&T bill can push $400 and I pay another $70 for home internet and VOIP phone.

I love competition

Jesus, spot the hypocrite.
Why when a new model comes out is there always someone who has to slate the outgoing model, a product they probably loved prior to the unveiling of the new device.
For the record, I too am not impressed with the design of the new iPhone. I am impressed that it's made from aluminium and glass, but while the iPhone 3G and 3Gs have "shiny plastic" back, the actual overall look of the 3G/3Gs is nicer.
And, sorry, I like my chrome bezel.

Where are they, I don't see them.
I do think it's funny however that you could possibly call me a hypocrite.... maybe you don't know what the word means. Here is the def:
Main Entry: hyp·o·crite
Pronunciation: \ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English ypocrite, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hypokritēs actor, hypocrite, from hypokrinesthai
Date: 13th century
1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion
2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings
— hypocrite adjective

Now that you know what the word hypocrite means, I would like to know your rational for calling me such. I would assume that you're either ignorant.... well we know that's true because you don't even know me, or you're just a schmuck who would presume to know what's in another person's mind/heart. Or maybe you're both. Maybe you can tell me...... and I thought Americans were supposed to be the arrogant ones.

As I said in my post, to each his own. I however think, when compared next to the 1st gen and the 4th gen, 3g/3gs look cheap in comparison. Shiny plastic was really cool back 10 years ago when the then new iPods where made but not so much in 2010. I know they still make the MB out of the crap shiny plastic.... guess that's why it's the "bargain" version.

You can keep your shiny plastic but I'll take aluminum and glass any day of the week and twice on Friday......

Are you an owner of a 3G or 3GS iPhone? What he is saying and I agree, if you are calling it a piece of crap because it is made out of plastic, you are a hypocrite. You bought it and loved it, now it's a piece of crap? Sure you prefer the new one, but you liked the old one right? If not than you must like buying pieces of crap plastic thangs err cheap whatever.

Now you go on this rant talking crap about Americans being arrogant. You do realize that Apple is an American company and that most of us are American. He calls you a hypocrite and you say he is being ignorant for calling you something when he doesn't know you, so then what do you do? You call him a schmuck....

Look, I don't know what country your from. I really don't care. English doesn't seem to be your first language. Why don't you do yourself a favor and quit trying to flame people. You are not good at it. Maybe stick to sites with lower IQ folks or people that speak your native language. Thanks! :D

At the moment... i'm 60% for getting the EVO 4g (I currently have sprint and another year on my contract) and 40% for iphone HD...

Wow... cheap and clunky huh. I laugh at that statement. To each his own I say but you think a phone with a shiny plastic back looks better than aluminum and glass? Yeah, why have the refinements of a BMW when you can buy a used pinto.

Sometimes I think people just want to find a way to use the word "Clunky" The phone is thinner than 3GS and sleaker..Granted im not a fan of the seams which i believe will go away.. I still dont think it looks cheap .. There is something about the flat glass back and the way the camera sensor and flash is implemented thats just screams Apple.. which is a synonym for great design.. So I aggree with you when you say.. "Yea, why have the refinements of a BMW when you can buy a used pinto" I also think dude is a moron.. But I choose not to say it out loud..

If you currently have Sprint why would you consider switching? The EVO comes out before the iPhone and from every scenario I have reviewed Sprint is at least 30% less expensive.

So with the iPhone you would switch to a slower carrier (presuming you have 4g coverage), a likely more expensive phone, and a more expensive plan. For what? the joy of the iPhone OS and appstore? I have been an iPhone customer for three years, i have dozens of apps but truth be told there are seven that I ever use: maps, stocks, browser, movie theater app, texting, phone(contacts), and email.

Is the evo really going to do those seven things that poorly? I don't think so. Which is why i am switching to sprint June 4th. I am even going to pay to buy out my contract for 1.5 months as my contract doesn't end with AT&T until July 24th.

To answer the question.. Yes I will be upgrading to this because I upgrade every damn year!! This is the upgrade I am most exited about! Because Steve Jobs said its an A+ upgrade and I believe everything Steve says because he is Magical..

Considering that my phone is with me at all times, and the amount i use my phone throughout the day, there is no reason not to upgrade. Im sure everyone else is the same way. So you pay 500 dollars for the upgrade you sell your 3gs for 300 bucks. You spend roughly 200 dollars and you have the best phone in the world, and an electronic that is with you all day every day... cant say the same about my TV, my MBP, or any other expensive electronic that i own.

I always have to laugh we people call the iPhone the best phone in the world. Maybe it's the best smartphone or best portable computing device, but best phone? It often fails as just a phone. There are much better "Phone" devices out there if a phone is what you need.

As a phone, it sucks. I have an old samsung sync as well as a blackjack II and both of those phones have better reception than my 3GS and didn't drop as many calls.

As a phone, my iPhone has been my worst talking experience since having a cell phone for about 10 years. It now functions pretty much as an iPod.

I completely agree with you and this is my same reasoning for me paying the high premium to upgrade from my 3gs.

Completely agree, and it saddens me tremendously, but the iPhone is a terrible phone and it's locked into a terrible carrier. If the next iPhone is available on any other network, I will consider switching to that network and getting the new iPhone. If not, I will switch back to Verizon and get an Android phone (or possibly to Sprint and get the EVO 4G).

Gotta love when the fine folks at MR feel the need to remove a post that totally owned this fool!! Oh well, I at least hope some people got to see that sweet post! No justice for the new guy I guess.
