Be time to upgrade in early 2018 for us. About 2.5 years with 6s and 6s+.

All indications seem to be a move to the Huawei P10 Plus for us. Unless all the rumors about the physical design of the new iPhones are wrong.

I have an extreme dislike for camera bumps.

I was thinking about this today - for complex reasons including a battery fault and some poor Apple service, I got shot of my 6S late last year, but if that had turned out different I think I'd really struggle to justify replacing a working 6S now.

The 8/Pro/Edition or whatever they call it is obviously going to be ludicrously expensive, whereas the 7S, which will still be the regular expensive price of a new iPhone - really seems to be a very weak replacement. Wireless charging, woo (in place of the headphone jack) - I'm struggling to see what else it really offers over the 6S, which will carry on being a very fast and capable phone for some time to come. The fact that Apple used the guts of the 6S to produce both the SE and the new iPad make it obvious that they see the A9 having a long life yet.

As it is I got a new SE recently and will sit this one out. I want to be excited about the genuinely new iPhone this year (the 8) but I'm not prepared to pay such a premium for it, or to settle for a still-pricey 7S.

This year I've replaced my old MacBook pro with a new 15", and got a 10.5 iPad Pro, so it's an expensive Apple year for me. And the rumours this iPhone is going to be priced even higher, I imagine I will be holding onto my 6s for another year unless Apple can really win me over with it.

I have a 6S+ that I will stick with till it either becomes obsolete or physically breaks. Overall, I'm not a big app person.

Upfront disclaimer, I'm betting I'm the odd-man out, but a few things that might motivate me to update my iPhone prior to the above include:

* external/easily by user replaceable battery

* double thickness iPhone, where all that extra thickness is used for battery space

* access to Mac OS X, i.e. (ssh and login as root) without having to jailbreak.

I will keep 6S if coming iphone does have >>

1- wireless charging
2- redesign

:apple:

The iPhone 7 (6ss) was an S upgrade and the 7s is an S upgrade over the S. without a redesign I do not consider these phones to be anything but an internal bump.

The 8 is what the 7 should have been and while I like the idea of its form factor I really can't see me giving up my 6s Plus for anything over a thousand.

So basically nothing

What can I say, I´m weak! I had the 6 Plus, I definitely wasn't going to upgrade to the 6S, then the 7 came out, I walked into a store (not an Apple Store) which had a fantastic offer on iPhone 6S plus 128GB. Only two units available - Brand new. It would have been rude not to buy one, especially as the sales girl knew my predilection for Apple products, came up to me and put one into my hand.

Anyone still happy with their 6s and keeping it for another year ? (Skipping the 7, 7s and 8)

Speak up and let us rejoice !

:D

The 6s Plus is literally a Collectors piece. 30 Years from now it will be marveled at much how we look at old Crank telegraph machines. The last iPhone with 3.5mm jack, last one with a Physical Home Button.
Just like the original black iPhone 5 the last iPhone Steve Jobs approved or gave input in before his death, and literally a work of art IMO.

I have the iPhone 6. Got it around December 2014.

Been waiting for the redesigned iPhone since Summer 2016, but they obviously released an uninteresting iPhone 7 instead.
Same, still using my 6 bought from November 2014. So using your 6s for another year is no big deal.

Keeping a phone past 2 years is pretty tough with the sheer drop in battery life. I've done it a few times, by the time I hit 2.5 years, I'm even ready to upgrade to the 6 month ago model (iPhone 7 right now in my case)

We already know what to expect... except the prices

Actually the prices are likely what's been predicted for almost three months and the four different threads/front page articles discussing this. It may not be verified, but I believe the pricing discussions are near what to expect.

6 is working fine, will run it to the ground first before I through $1000 at Apple products instead of their stock.

I'll keep my 6s Plus for a least two years. It's still as fast as it had been on the first day, if not even faster with iOS 10 and also 11 Beta.
