If you’re questioning then definitely not for you. 6S is still relevant and powerful enough. If I had it I’d have not bought the 8 plus this year.

Sure the 6s is still relevant. Hardware lasts a lot longer today than it did in years past. Had my 6s Plus not been giving me issues with a fading ear speaker for the last few months as well as horrible battery life needing a charge every 4-5 hours... I'd have probably kept it.

Verizon also gave me $275 in trade... which for a 2 year old phone is pretty good.

The 8 Plus is amazing!

is the display really any different besides true tone? the speed difference Is huge?

When I played with it in the store it was fast but iOS 11 made my phone (7+) quicker. As far as the display, nothing really "popped". Nothing made me say WOW like looking at a S8 or Note 8 for the first time. If you have a 7, I don't really see a reason for upgrading unless your having problems with your phone or you want to take advantage of IUP.

Depending on what memory of 6s was. You could of sold it for 400-450

Camera/flash unit on my 8 died after a day and a half - seems to have disconnected (doing nothing but sitting on a table) as it worked out of the box. Took it back for an exchange but haven’t unsealed the replacement yet. Might just return and get a X later.

Why is that so bad?
As a customer, I much rather prefer to be able to get the product I want, when I want it, rather than having to wait for weeks for it to come back in stock.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing, just an indication that the product is less sought after. Generally that goes hand and hand with how the product is perceived. If the product was well received, it'd be more hard to get.

If you're east coast USA and knew that on launch day you could walk into a store and pick one up with ease. Many would've probably slept at 3AM.

I didn't order an 8, but was kind of crazy to go to lunch with a friend on launch day and afterwards they were able to just walk into the store and buy one.

Some actually prefer the design of the current iPhone Plus model. Yes, it's a large phone, but when you have been using it for so long, you adjust rather quickly and I think the end result is you get a better battery, 1080 P display and the dual camera.

Furthermore, not everybody appreciates the notch on the iPhone X, especially for some watching videos in landscape mode.

Not to mention the X screen is significantly smaller than the Plus in landscape, especially for watching video (not a huge difference but a noticeable one), and it's just smaller overall width wise. It is definitely taller, but once you take out the notch and the useless area near the bottom, it's only a little larger than the 8 Plus.

So essentially you have a smaller phone. I don't want a smaller screen with less information, even if it is beautiful. The other thing is that except for the OIS on the 2nd lens and the portrait mode on the selfie cam, (and the smaller OLED display), the 8 Plus has everything the X has. It's virtually identical.

So I got the 8+. I will try it for two weeks. If I don't love it, I'll return it. If I do love it and then see the X and want shiny and new, I'll give my 8+ to my SO or sell it. But ultimately, seeing as I read and operate in landscape so often on the Plus, I don't see myself doing it. It's a reduction in useful real estate.

I'd be better off waiting for the inevitable iPhone X Plus next year....

(The notch doesn't bother me; Face ID I am sure will be fine, so those aren't factors)

I've never purchased a first gen iPhone ever. I love waiting for the "s" line so I get a better phone than the lemmings who purchased the year before. I love early adopters because they set the stage for a better phone a year later for me.

4s->5s->6s+->8 (7s) has been my path and it's served me well.

The X doesn't appeal to me on many levels. What does appeal to me is I have the same horsepower under the hood as a X and it'cost me a lot less than the X for features I don't want (Face ID comes to mind).

Oh, and I got a phone on launch day. I spoke to Apple Store folks yesterday and all signs are pointing to people sleeping out to get what little supply will be available on launch day. Hope you get one before the 10s comes out in Sept 2018.

I 100% agree with your logic and did the same thing. The 6s runs well, one of the best I've had, so the latest version with improved camera and amazing processor will suit me well until the one year trade in for a Second gen X. I had 3gs, 4s, 5s, 6s and now the 8 (7s)

By October 6th, I'm willing to bet a bunch of iphone 8/+ returns are coming back to Apple stores. People abusing the 14 day try out period.

You Really can't 'abuse' a 14 day return period though. That's what they're intended for, if somebody doesn't like the phone or if there is an "Issue" with it, and if they are within the 14 days, that's not abusing it. That's using the policy as it's stated.

This is why I black listed Apple in this country.
By law we have a statutory return period of 20 days without even an explanation. NOT Apple goods. 😵
Apple goods, once sold and the box is open, its yours and there is nothing the outlets can do about it except advertise this point on their Apple stands. I have no idea how Apple get away with it but on principle I have not bought Apple since this situation started until now. 😳
Apple make the outlets lives very difficult. An outlet can charge what they like for other brands and hold sales etc NOT with Apple, Apple dictate every aspect of the sale.
Outlets here tend to carry Apple to please a small client base, many outlets no longer sell Apple due to the problems with customers complaining about returns. Samsung and other brands outsell Apple many times over here and my guess would be this in one of the reasons the other being price V technology. Apple have been playing catch up with other brands for years but still sell Millions in other countries across the world.
I put this down to loyalty among Apple owners. Yet another reason I black listed them. I still think Apple take advantage of their loyal owner base. Zero problem with being the most expensive devices on the market providing the company sell the technology that warrants that high price.
Even with the new 8, 8+ and X to fast charge one has to buy the cable and charger separately? What other brand does that? To ME that is abusing loyal Apple owners who deserve better. I am going to get flamed here. 🙁

I bought the iPhone SE a couple of weeks ago because I needed an iPhone to play host to two portable DAC-Amps that only tend to play well with Apple products. I enjoy music and am using headphones more and more so decided to use a DAC-Amp combo with my Note 8 however the DAC-Amp, when connected, is charged by the mobile and not the other way around. Its an OTG problem that is well known to the manufacturers of the portable DAC's but, of course, they have no included a cable in the box that prevents this phenomena. Only way around this was to purchase an iPhone.

I have to write I was not at all happy with this situation as described in my first paragraph I dislike the way Apple conducts its business here. I took the plunge and bought the little SE that was so good at what I wanted it for I decided to sell it and purchase the larger iPhone 8+ I should be collecting it tomorrow, Wednesday, lets see.

I know the 8+ is years behind some brands in terms of size and screen resolution etc BUT I am never going to use it as my daily mobile phone, the iPhone will not even host a SIM card, to that end it should serve my purposes and be an excellent host to my portable DAC's. Quality has never been a problem nor UI and OS so I hope all will go well with this venture. 🙂

I’m using my iPhone as my headunit in my car with the camera usb connection kit to my usb powered dac and digital coax out to my dsp. I have a otc Cable I found on amazon that powers the dac to a seperate power also.
Did you not find a otc Cable that would power the dac seperatly?
I’m using the s.m.s.l x-usb

I was curious if I could use this with an android setup but haven’t tried it.
