The only complain I have with the leather is it rips over time. I have the midnight blue, and in about 6 months it's ripped and off shade from every different angle. Although, I love the feel of it. Adds grip, and elegance. However I've come to realize that going naked is a completely different feeling. You end up enjoying more of the design of the phone.
I'm pretty sure the Apple store will replace it. Out of the blue, they offered to replace my leather one when I was there picking up a new one.

I had a red one, which they refused to replace, as they claim it is wear and tear.

I almost want to use a full body Zagg shield or Ghostarmor. Apple sales associate in the store actually recommended that due to the lack of grip.

It does not replace its product after the initial return policy, besides iPhones and etc... I went into the Apple Store and complained about the quality of the leather case while picking up the black silicon case which is the same story; ripped and out of shade. I think going naked gives a different purpose to the phone and you end up enjoying more, although you are more careful

Bought a case for mine out of the gates but debating just buying AppleCare and rocking it naked. Feels great in the hand. Who's going naked this time around?

My phones are always naked. I've had every iPhone since the original and have never put a case on any of them, including my current 6 Plus (which I got on the day of launch last year).

When doing this, I:
  • ... dedicate my left front pocket for my iPhone only. Nothing else goes in that pocket. Not keys, change, miscellaneous foo, not even paper receipts. Nothing.
  • ... never set my phone down directly on a hard surface. If I have to set it down, I set it on a book, magazine, stack of paper, mouse pad, napkin, etc. Note this also means it doesn't get tossed in the cup holder in my car.
  • ... don't drop it
And my phone is pristine even after a year. I'd argue it's typically in better condition phones that live in cases as cases have a tendency to collect little bits of grit which create micro-scratches on the surfaces of the phone. Last year, the Apple Store employee that took my 5S as a trade-in for my 6 Plus looked back at me when I handed him my phone.... "How long have you had this?" "Since launch... one year." "Wow."

But don't you find it too slippery? My previous iPhones were "naked" until the 6 Plus. It's hard to get a decent grip on it without it slipping out of the hand.

I've heard people mention 'slippery' before when referring to the phones, but I'm not sure what that means. I find the phone has as much friction as any other aluminum object (eg. the last 3 generations of iPhones) and doesn't just slide out of my grip uncontrollably.

The Plus is obviously quite a bit larger than the previous versions of the phones, so there are some actions that, if attempted with one hand, can put the phone in a precarious balance situation where it would be easy to drop or be knocked out of your palm; since I really don't want my phone banged up, I don't risk those kinds of maneuvers. If it feels like I don't have a safe grip on it, I change my grip or I employ my second hand. I would do the same if it had a case (a case isn't proof against damage from falling, after all), so a case wouldn't change my usage habits.

In fact, if I did have a case, the only difference in how I treated my phone would be that I could set it down on whatever surface without regard; my other precautions would still be in play. Oh, and I'd be sad when I took the case off at the end of the year and saw my phone scarred from the micro-grit :(

With the 4s it had flat edges so when you squeezed your hand to provide grip for the phone, it was met with resistance and you could securely hold the phone in your grasp. 5 and 5s were similar - flat edges allowed you to (without a case) hold the phone securely with pressure. The 6 plus, when applying grip pressure, has a tendency to slide out of your grasp because of its rounded edges. I'm talking about a dry hand in the winter - I have had several relatives and a friend try this and they all agreed the phone is insanely slippery. In the summer, most people's hands are not as dry thus giving a grip to a slippery aluminum surface. I can usually use the 6+ in the summer far more easily than I can in the dry cold of winter.

I take tons of pictures and find the 6+ way too slippery to use without a case, though I wish I could use it without a case.

Thank you very much for your all your inputs. Still waiting for I6s, but in the meantime I've been using the 6 naked and absolutely love the way it feels. Just wanted to know how the back of the phone holds up when using naked. Normally with a case on you can put your phone on any surface and not care about it, but can you do the same with a naked iPhone?

Yes the 6S feels great naked, but it's slippery as f**k and it's only a matter of probability when it's gonna fall out of my hands and onto the unforgiving concrete and shatter into a million pieces. A final tragedy that could have been avoided had I put a case on it. Oh, I did put a case.

I've been back and forth. When I first got it, I declared that I wouldn't use a case. Then I dropped it on the carpet at home 3 times in as many days. I decided to put my leather 6+ case on it. I've since had conversations weighing the pros/cons of case vs AppleCare. Still haven't decided.

Dude, get AppleCare+ on an iPhone or Mac. My own personal rule is if it's >$500 I get AppleCare. So I've never bought it for iPads or iPod Touches.

I usually buy it on anything I buy. It's all portable and there are just too many risks. I've been trying to justify not buying it since I'll be upgrading next year anyway, but if I buy I can always get a refund when I upgrade.

I prefer it, gives me peace of mind. still not sure about the case though. Gonna try it naked again this weeken if not, I'll probably just grab a clear one and out the leather away for when I need it.

See, I'm generally the same with my phones. I don't see why people think it's so hard to take care of a phone without a case. Not everyone abuses their devices.

Back should be fine, I am really only concerned with the camera. I have a 5s with a ton of scratches on it because I didn't use a car, and I didn't really care because it otherwise worked fine.

I have the exact same concerns, and that's why I've been using a Caudabe Veil XT on all my phones. Phone basically still feels naked, but I don't have to worry about getting it scratched up in my pocket or on a table. I don't drop my phone much anyway, drop protection isn't a concern.

I wanted to freeball but the Apple Leather case felt too good to pass up.

I like the look and feel of the leather case, but it feels much too slippery to use on a daily basis. The Silicone case has a more 'tacky' feel and feels better in the hand and less likely to slip out of your hands and fall.

WOW .... I just got this case today and yes... this case is AWESOME. It's incredibly thin - thinner than the bump on the back of the phone when the camera protrudes (but it has a raised part to protect the camera). Definitely not a case you'd get for protection but if you wanted to be Nekkid without all the negatives (slippery, damage). It's on my phone now and it will remain on my phone. I like it!!!! The phone basically feels naked.

I've tried 6+ (lol) cases. Apple Leather (damages and rips too easily), Apple Silicon (too big / rubbery), Luvitt, diztronic, sena pouch, etc...

The only thing I'm worried about with the caudabe case is longevity but for the price and the naked feel - I believe I've found the case I've been looking for for almost a year now. Thanks!

Those of you wanting to go Nekkid but can't cuz it's too slippery? Get the Caudabe Veil XT.

Interesting.......watched a video review and the case does look great. Does it have a slight "lip" on it so that you can place the phone face down? Thanks.
