LOL. Maybe 3gb is reserved for iphone7.

IMO 2gb will be enough until we see a significant change in processor design and/or increase in display resolution. Neither of those things I think we'll see for quite a while.

Apple has to draw the line somewhere. If we are talking about app reloading issues then technically there will never be enough. Open enough apps regardless of the amount of RAM and the ones furthest in the background will drop from a suspended state.

2gb on a iPad is a satisfactory experience. In real world use on my iPad Air 2 I have no noticeable issues due to RAM or the lack there of. Meaning on a design with a lower resolution such as the iPhone 6+ it should be even better.

People upset and complaining past that point are probably just doing so because they are comparing specs. That is fine and all but I feel if you didnt know the specs between an iPhone 6+ with 2gb of RAM and a competing device with 3gb of RAM in real world usage you'd probably think the iPhone had more. And that is all Apple is really concerned about.

I completely agree. I'm currently using a stock Android device with 2GB of RAM and it multitasks perfectly fine, albeit the iPad Air 2 I played with was better. My phone can retain multiple web pages and apps with no reloading, which my iPhone 6 could not do. I'm really hoping Apple decides that the iPhone 6S will finally get more RAM this time around.

Partly because with more ram, your product is more future proof. Then again, would be something unlikely of Apple to achieve.

I'm not sure if you notice this, but it is more than specs comparison when simple multitasking is being disrupted due to low memory as this is impacting the basic functionality. And you are probably right that as of now, there won't be much difference felt for an iPhone 6+ of 2gb vs 3gb. Soon however, as newer iOS versions are out (and eventually leading to higher memory consumption), then the difference could be felt.

Not everyone has infinite financial resources and could afford to upgrade their phones annually. Some would like to keep using it for quite sometime as newer features may not be something any consumer wants. For example, this coming one, if they incorporate force touch? Or dual lens camera? It's a nice feature to have, but not needed for most as many could still use the phone without much problems, but because now newer gen phones has 2gb and then only it could support multitasking features properly, I need to get that upgrade. Lol.

Each iPhone release, Apple never tells us the amount of ram, while the other manufactures do. Probably for a reason. With Apple, the phone is optimized better than the competitions, so they make it a point to brag about the spec's.

But when your recent latest release is ram insufficient to function optimally, you start to question what would have caused that. Like the iPad Air 2 vs iPhone 6 Plus, just a difference of 1gb could do wonders in performance. I have to agree that iPad Air 2 currently is the only standard they managed to maintain well when it comes to Apple UI snappy standard. That was the only thing that reminds me of ios 6 snappiness.

Apple indirectly brags about the specs by showing off their graphs of better performance compared to previous models. They don't really have to go in depth because people would make more of it than they should and would also compare Android phones to the iPhone; which would be pointless. There's no use in the comparison as both operating systems are different, and utilize their resources in a different way.

My 6+ isn't optimised at all. There isn't enough RAM and Apple probably didn't advertise the fact because they were embarrassed to be seen as such penny pinchers. :D

Seriously though, the phone is ridiculous for reloading and web browsing on data-heavy sites has become a tedious chore. It's a real step backwards in time. I really thought that smartphones had become like mini computers but I can't do things with my 6+ that my old iPhone 5 managed with aplomb. The larger screen should mean better web browsing but sadly it feels like I'm using an older device.

Feel your pain. I was literally shaking my head when testing them on different stores. Never met one that didn't behave like what you've described.

Yep huge difference haven't had an app reload yet! This is a major selling point for the phone of course Apple can't really say it without calling out the fact they should have fixed this last year.

So how is everyone who felt 2GB ram was unnecessary feeling now?

Just got the 6s and even though I expected it, I'm still amazed as to how much of a difference it made. Haven't had a tab refresh yet!

Those people are just annoyed apple didn't put 512Mb of ram into the ) - after all that was probably enough :rolleyes:

HUGE DIFFERENCE. 2GB plus the A9 chip and this is probably going to be the best iPhone ever made. I'll know after this weekend.

I can echo the positive experiences here - I have a 6S and I haven't run into a single safari tab or app refresh yet.

Never had this experience on an iPhone before. It's been very noticeable for me!

Ok. I am toasted. 2GB of ram is really huge.
Sadly I still have a device with only half a Gig of ram. :p
What should I do? :D

Well, there's really no difference here. I just have another iPhone with 1GB more of RAM, never had the issue with tabs refreshing. Don't know what anyone else is doing with their phones, but glad to hear this resolved your problems.
