The objective answer would be because since no one product is perfect, opinions will vary.

Some people just don't like certain things about Apple. I use Apple products every day, and there are a handful of things I dislike.

1. I hate the fact that there is no out of the box way to install third party applications that are not found on the app store

2. I hate the fact that Apple feels they have the right to take a cut on in app purchase revenue

3. I hate the fact that there is no (easy) way to get a refund on the appstore for something that just doesn't work.

4. I hate the fact that I can;t customize much on iOS (while things are much better than 1.0 they still have a long way to go)

The list can go on, I am sure, but I could make a list just as long for Android (perhaps other mobile OSs which I have yet to try). Does that make me a hater? I don't think so, but I am sure someone might read this post and say yes.

Interestingly, I have no problem with their computers. While they are more expensive than the competition, one does get the feeling of receiving a premium product made of premium materials, even if it is just the case. The again, I can buy any software I want, with or without Apple's seal of approval and I can even install other OSs on the thing.

Seriously dude... grow up.

Someone is saying this about almost every post this guy has made recently.

blah blah... Seriously dude... blah blah.

It's fitting that you would respond to my question about IQ with the word "Dude"

If anything make sure to take your own advice about growing up.

Engadget blows

It seems to me that on sites like engadget that the comments section is filled with intense hatred for the iPhone, and apple in general. My question is why? Why do these people hate apple so much?

Droids are for ghetto folk. Engadget has to make a living by being the Anti Apple site, I guess. My .02. :apple:

It's personal preference. Just because you love one device, does not necessarily mean that someone else has to be in your shoes. There are those who love Android based on its freedom (don't ask me). Others tend to love BlackBerry's as they are supposedly the best email compatible (don't ask me - I completely disagree).

Fixed that for you ;)
Aww... how cute.
Again... thank you for proving my point regarding your maturity level.

I'll also guarantee I own more Apple products, including iPhones than you.
Never assume what you don't know. ;)

Having a passion for all technology regardless of what entity created it requires an open mind.
Something you apparently lack.

there are many cell phones none of them are perfect for everybody. I here people say all the time my phones better then yours. My response, (glad you like your phone I like mine too.) who cares if somebody likes or doesn't like a device.

This tactic seems to irritate some. those are the ones that are looking for a my cell phone is better then your cell phone fight.

Agreed.

There are too many children on this forum who cant think outside the box.

All I see people do on this forum is mindlessly bash Android products. Its sad to see people dismiss and call Android crap without even thinking.

I dont understand why people are so prideful about Apple and their products.

Do you own Apple? Are you a major shareholder?

There are things I like and hate about Apple. There are things I like and hate about Android products.

But I appreciate both enough to own both products.

Having a true appreciation for technology means you like tech whether its Apple or Android.

Seriously its akin to the ignorant people who only eat American food. Why eat only American food when you can also have Thai, Indian, Cuban, etc.

I'm one of those *someone*!!

Also, I'm done reasoning with these iSheep [ Yes, that's what they are with their extremely limited horizons, and inability to look beyond the walled garden of Apple !! ] because they're just plain... dumb IMO!

You mean the ICS thats been out for over 5 months but only 2.9% of all Android phones are running? LOL The same ICS that over 60% of Android phones still under a 2 year contract will never see? That ICS?

You clearly don't understand that coders have to specifically transcribe the code to work on different devices and also different carriers also have their say in a OS release.

That being said, Android devices work fine on Gingerbread, ICS is more of a different experience , its nice to have but not required unlike Apple who requires iOS5 or higher or else apps won't work.

Why does it matter? Always consider the source. There was another recent thread on "Why do people hate...?" and it covers the same topic.

Engadget's commenters aren't all identical clones -- like any other site with commenters.

EDIT: Here ya go -- no need to reinvent the wheel:

Just download the dmg file? Doesn't have to be from the AppStore ...

Apple makes sure millions of people gets to view the app a developer made so why wouldn't they deserve a cut?

You clearly missed the point. First of all, the "cut" Apple makes is to run the Appstore nearly at cost. It's not about making a cut. It's about controlling what they allow on their precious OS. If Apple doesn't allow it into the Appstore, there is no way to get it without a jailbreak. My issue, again, is that I can;t go to any other online store and buy a game. Maybe I don't want to support the appstore. If I want to buy office for Mac, I can go to Apple, or Best Buy, or Amazon, or... you get the picture. If I want to buy office for iPad I can go to the AppStore, or the Appstore or... well, you get that picture too, I hope.

----------

I have never had an issue getting a refund. I send an email and the money is refunded. Easy in my book.

That's some pretty good luck. Mine seems not to be the same. I have had two emails never responded to. Two of them were apps with very low download ratios though. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Anyway, wouldn't it be easier to be able to just choose "refund my money" as soon as you find out the app isn't working? That sure is easy. If you think having to send emails out to request a refund is acceptable, more power to you. My experience has left me frustrated and, frankly, let down to find it an acceptable option.

Let's be fair. The vast majority of apps have no such requirement, at least to my knowledge. Eventually they slap on a requirement to upgrade from something like 3.x, but it's not for a while. Apple, with their own apps, seem to be super strict about requiring the latest firmware to run them. IME, that's about it.

oh I uderstand that perfectly. the more phones they continue to churn out at ridiculous paces just means more time people are going to have to wait for OS updates. Carriers don't care about upgrading existing customers, they make no money off it. All their money is made from new contracts which is why they put all their efforts into new phones every few months and let phones not even a year old die. Apple still supports the 3Gs, a 3 year old phone. It got updated to 5.1 the same day the 4s did. Good luck finding any Android phone with that level of support.

While I don't disagree with you on most of your points, a 3GS on 5.1 is pig slow. Many, perhaps even most, using a 3GS would much prefer the option of downgrading and having a more usable OS.

Yes the iPhone 3GS did get updated to 5.1, but a lot of people say it runs like crap on the phone. I know someone who did the upgrade with his 3GS and it lags all the time now. So much for that flawless iPhone experience.

The way you keep going on and on thread after thread it almost seems you are trying to convince yourself of something. I mean you say how much you love your new iPhone and how flawless it is and go on and on about those terrible Android phones. I think by now we have the point that you feel the iPhone is perfect and you hate Android phones, but some of us like the features of the Android phones. I know I sure enjoy having fast Verizon 4G LTE. I enjoy having widgets and multi-tasking is fast and easy from app to app. I also like having a larger 4.3" screen. It's all about opinion. You love your iPhone so I don't know why every post you make sounds like your trying to tell yourself how happy you are and make us listen to it over and over.
