The finger print lock is only going to protect your data on the phone, as soon as a thief has the phone he will just DFU restore it.

But iPhone 5S will ship with iOS 7, so if you turn on Find My iPhone, even a DFU restore won't work. The thief will get a message saying they need to enter the password of the Apple ID the phone is associated with, and since they don't know that password, the phone would just be a paperweight.

Apple have already told us. They're not currently interested in making a bigger phone. End of.

BS the 6 will have a 4.5" screen.

Did'nt know that, sounds really good then.

I'd like a larger screen as well. Honestly, the only other device I think looks as good as apple is the HTC One. I bought it, tried it but iOS is better suited for me. If I could put iOS into the HTC One, I'd be happy. lol

Impressive you already know what the iPhone 6 will have. Nobody knows, except Apple. Please stop these comments of "I am sure Apple will have a 5/6" Screen come iPhone 6!"

But what does that have to do with adding a fingerprint sensor to the 5S? Won't any iOS 7 device have this new Find My iPhone feature?

We're already viewing apps in widescreen as it is. Any bigger and we'll be looking at mostly black bars.

Why release a phone with a larger screen AND fingerprint scanner when you can divide them up and release them separately to maximize profits?

That he's talking about is that a 3.5" screen option might not be longer be available in the Apple lineup.

No it won't. I restored my iPhone during the beta and no matter what, I can't get past the activation screen without entering the Apple ID associated with the phone

You are right that there is no real correlation between the two features. But the poster I was responding to had stated that fingerprints only protect your data, and thought that there was no protection against physical theft of your device. So I was pointing out that for that, there is Find My iPhone.

Because your thumb goes from here, to here.

Well, at least my thumb does.

Is there a demand for larger screens, sure, is there a demand for quadruple stuffed Oreo's? Most definitely. Doesn't mean it's going to affect enough numbers for it to be necessary.

40M Notes sold over the last few years says that there is demand. Honestly, do you believe there is more demand for a fingerprint sensor or a larger screen?

Because they are stubborn and arrogant in their decision making by not listening to the demands of the majority of its users.

But, slowly, they will pay for it. They'll learn their lesson.

That's what I thought, three weeks ago I said I'll show apple, we sold three iPhone 5 and went and bought three s4, long story short the s4 are gone and ordering three 5s on Friday, cannot stand the phones or the os, only liked the larger screen but decided after listing hundreds if $ it's not worth it

I never said that. Calm down. If Apple made a note sized iPhone, I would never buy it and would be forced out of the Apple ecosystem. Just because there is demand, doesn't mean everyone wants it.

they don't owe you an explanation. if that is the screen they want you to have then that is the screen you will get. if you don't like there are other phones.

what are you talking about, every single new iPhone has sold more than the previous one, so slowly the people are realizing that naggers about screen size are wrong and don't know what the gen public really likes.

wait for the numbers to prove you wrong.

then iTunes will ask him to input apple id and password after the dfu restore even to older fw. ;)

Apple has sold you one this size screen when they do another sales pitch as to why a larger screen is better. You will eat it up and rave that its the perfect size.

The fragmentation argument is old and lame adding one more screen size is not going to fragment the whole brand. There are already 3.5"/4"/7.9/9.7 screens not to mention now 64-bit. Apple will optimize the developer tools to make the transition easier. Like it or not at this point the screen size has to increase next year. No way apple can keep up its us market share through 2 more update cycles with a smaller screen.(6/6s) Edge to edge screens are coming so your phone doesn't jump out of ur hand because its half an inch bigger.:p

I am glad it's just 2 sizes (4 and 5 are different sizes).

I hope they keep it that way. Better for developers. Better apps.

Exactly how I feel as well, if i needed something bigger than an iPhone but smaller than iPad, i would get an iPad mini. But seriously i had to set someone on my friends phone Samsung Note 2. I had to hold it with both hands just to text someone. Personally I think the iPhone screen at 4'' is the perfect size for the normal hand. I'm coming from a 4s so I am SUPER excited for the 5s. Just as i'm sure i'll be super excited for the '6s'. But with Android you have so many different screen sizes and resolutions that app developers can not streamline their apps as good as iOS developers can.

I demand that i have a Ferrari 458 for the price of a Toyota Camry. (I'm sure the demand for a car like that would be EXTREMELY high) Doesn't mean that anyone would ever build a car like that. Just because there are SOME people that demand high end features you have to realize that 99% of companies market their product for the largest target audience. COULD Apple have made a phone with 128gb, NFC, 802.11ac, a 550ppi 5.5'' screen, etc... Sure... But, then people would complain about how much money the phone was to buy. Apple adds more tech for their target market (the world) yet keep it priced the same as the out going model. That seems like a win for the consumer to me.

There may be a few people who would love a bigger screen but not enough for apple to make one. apple is not stupid they do there research to find out if its profitable to make a bigger phone. The people on these forums that say they want a bigger screen may make it seem like everyone wants one but the people here are enthusiasts just like myself but we only make up a very small percenatge of iPhone owners.
I had a motorola Droid Rzr and the phone didnt fit comfortably in my hand which the iPhone does, if i need bigger Id buy a tablet
