I can see why many would still want to jailbreak (My3G, etc..) but I am perfectly content with iOS 5, so I don't see myself jailbreaking. BUT when a jailbreak is released I may just get the itch. LOL

Sounds like you've never actually USED icon project; it is a SIMPLE two step process -- tap the app, slide the toggle: short of having the toggle itself on the home screen, not sure it could be any simpler.

I've used it extensively. Perhaps you haven't used SBSesttings, or you don't fully understand what Icon Project is actually doing.

Like I said, you still have to navigate to the page where Icon Project is, unlike SBSettings which you can access on any page or in an app. That's adding at least one step to what normally is two step process.

And SBSettings itself is the toggle. Icon Project is not the toggle, it just takes you to the toggle screen in Settings.

SBSettings and the 5-icon dock was enough for me to jailbreak my 3gs. I ended up loving all of the customizable features that were provided. Bite SMS was great, too. I'll see how long I can go. :apple:

I haven't ever used sbsettings; a friend just sent me a video about it, and it does look pretty cool.

I just thought you were making icon project seem more complicated than it is; and yes, I understand how it works.

Nope, just telling it like it is.

The bottom line: SBSettings is two-step process. If you are on the same page as the Icon Project shortcut, it's a two-step process. But if you're two or three pages away, that's two or three extra streps. If the icon is in folder, that's another step. If you are in an app, that's another step to have to exit.

so bascally you hate everything about iOS??

Thats my main "WTF?!?" why praise something like an iphone so much, then jailbreak it and turn it into something else?

You would think people who jailbreak their phones would just go over to android and at least customize a phone with a bigger screen.

Woah, calm down! Its my phone, I do as I like. I paid for it with my hard earned money.

Grooveshark is so much better than the other music apps???

And there is an app (iconproject) that lets you put things like the wifi and brightness right on the home page.

And . . . 5 icons in the dock? I don't need 5 icons in the dock. Who does?

I had the exact same question as the OP; and you guys have convinced me, beyond any shadow of any doubt, that I DON'T need to jailbreak.

Do you need to feel self assure that you don't need jailbreak or something? Or you simply don't know how? Granted for the 4S it's not available yet but sounds to me you're trying to down it because you simply need convincing. And that sir, is sad

I have a stock 4S AND a jailbroken 4 and I find myself switching my sim to the 4 a lot for the following:

SB Settings: quick swipe and change any setting

Activator: I swipe left on status bar to tweet (same default twitter interface pops up but no need to include a picture, map location, link like ios 5 stock) - set custom actions to do almost anything

iBlacklist: can block any number from texting or calling me!

BiteSMS: I get a lot of SMS, and its annoying to have to go into the Messages app to reply, with Bite you reply from whatever you're doing, plus status bar icon lets you know how many messages you have, notification center click on SMS allows you to Quick Reply (no opening app)

Google Voice extensions: Lets you send/receive Google Voice text and make calls through native Messages & phone apps - #1 reason for me, cancelled my SMS plan saves me $20/month

Customized look: I shrink the icons to 90% and put 5 across, have HTC Sense style clock on my homescreen with icons below, space icons wherever I want, Scrolling dock, themes, etc

Fake Clock Up: didn't know how big of a difference this makes until I got the 4S and didn't have it: speeds up the ios animations..notice when you open or close an app, there's an animation associated with it, that you have to "wait" through...they're not long and you're used to them, but when you speed those up 5x with this tweak, then go back to stock you can tell the difference. I know it's not but my 4 seems faster bc of this. things pop right open

Haptic pro: not for all, i like haptic feedback when I hit buttons, type on the keyboard

Infinifolders: if I have 30 games, annoying to have to place them in 3 separate folders

Call Bar: when I get a call, instead of interupting what I'm doing, a bar appears at top of screen like the new notifications, with options to accept or decline call or just ignore it and continue my task

3G Unrestrictor: Facetime over 3G, downloads over 20MB on Itunes/App Store, ability to watch videos at higher quality

Location Spoof: Can fake location...useful for me because I have NFL Sunday Ticket and no cable, and live in Patriots territory so it is blacked out, I spoof that I'm in Arizona or something and can watch Patriots or Red Sox or any blacked out game

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple as well. Any of these alone might not make a huge difference, but together they really do. I just bought my 4S and find myself enjoying my 4 more bc of the jailbreak. I am contemplating returning the 4S and keeping my upgrade for the next iphone.

Thank you for listing these apps. I wondered about some wonderful iPhone jb apps. What about intelliscreenX

I stopped jailbreaking with iOS 5. However, once Siri is available and easy to get running properly on an iPhone 4 I will immediately jailbreak again.

I was without my jailbreak for 2 weeks and the biggest things i missed on a repeated basis were:

navigate from maps tweak (when you click on a pinpoint you can select navigate here with navigon) - search is great in maps but directions are a joke... and since safari and siri default you to maps you need a way to link to your real nav app.

my iphone is useless in my car with out the tweak to get rid of the annoying accessory splash screen.

3gUnrestrictor... totally had forgotten about the download limits and the horrible quality of youtube over 3g.

there are other things that are nice, but the three above are *close* to being deal breakers for me. without them i have a really frustrating user experience.

What about intelliscreenX

IntelliScreen was something I used when it was in beta, but with the Notification Center in iOS 5 I see little value in the $10 price. The Quick View feature is nice, but I can live without it. If there is a native iOS app/feature that does the same thing a jailbreak app/feature had been doing, I will choose iOS. My list for reasons to jailbreak have gotten shorter after each major update, which is the point the OP is trying to make. But there are some things that will never be native, like unlocking, free/cheaper tethering, and 3GUnrestrictor.

Two reasons: IntelliscreenX and Fakeclockup. I still haven't decided whether I actually want to jailbreak (it's kind of a hassle when a software update is released) but I might.

Because we simply wanted powerful tweaked iOS, not Android! :D

I'm staying untethered at 4.3.1 until iOS5 gets an untethered JB

Activator
Bitesms
Sbsettings
Fakeclockup
Infindock
Infinifolders
Lock info
Synchronicity
Remove background

Yeah, just a few. I prefer to use the iPhone how I like it, not how apple likes me to.

These features are why I jailbreak:

1. Being able to attach something from the mail app.

2. Activator, SBSettings

3. iMessages NEEDS a "send as SMS for non-international numbers only" ON/OFF toggle

4. Cydget

5. Everything you see in Bite SMS

6. Mail Enhancer

7. Camera timer. Really not all that hard to do. PictureMe does this in Cydia

They should add wifi/bluetooth/airplane toggles to the notification slider or something. There are a bunch of obvious ways they can utilize that space better.

Agree with #3 and #7, for sure, although taking a picture with Siri could solve this.

i really miss iblacklist and sbsettings. Hard to live without sbsettings once you've had it. Quick reply on bitesms too. 3g unrestricter is also very convenient and makes youtube much more enjoyable.

what is the name of this tweak? Thanks!

Although I probably won't jailbreak this time around, assuming an untethered jailbreak comes out, the two things I would be tempted to jailbreak for and now miss the most are:

Activator
3G Unrestrictor
