If you can afford an iPhone, you can afford apps.

Yeah Yeah I know! Don't go all off on me…..I've actually bought tons of apps in the past. Most of them didn't come out as I thought it would and then I realized I wasted my money….But no biggie….Installous is just one of the things I would recommend if you jailbreak..

Well why the Hell do you care why I still want to jailbreak. I would simply ask why the hell wouldn't you. Howeber you happy with 5.0 good for you.

Bitesms

BiteSMS is still a more complete SMS APP than Apple's native one.

Why Apple will not include a signature in the native app is beyond me; much the same way as why the wouldn't include a character counter up until 4.0.

With Apple it seems like it's the little annoyances that make you upset.

Seriously...

The best thing is new widgets for notification center!!! Like the RSS widget, the omnistat for ram use and stats, and my favorite: a one click widget to kill all running apps in the multitask bar (WeeKillBackground).

You also have widget task which takes the multitasking bar onto the notification center.

Themes are also important. Open SSH. Camera Locker (camera icon always there on lock screen, way better than having to click two times the home button!!).

Jailbreak is ALWAYS NECESSARY.

Oh, and don't forget emulators!

1) SBSettings
2) Theming (I don't like the stock UI)
3) iFile
4) Little hacks to fix things in iOS 5 that Apple forced on us (like getting rid of the ugly, and for me, useless, NewsStand icon)

However, they did add a few things that replaced some Cydia hacks for me, like LockInfo, Wi-fi Sync...

BiteSMS is the only Jailbroken app I have installed. If the native messaging app let me quick reply when I got a text, I wouldn't be jailbroken at all. I'll cross my fingers for iOS 6.

Having said that, my iPad is now full stock and I don't miss the jailbreak at all.

SBSettings
3G Unrestrictor
BiteSMS
Winterboard & Glasklart HD

The colored icons hurt my eyes. Glasklart is still one of my main reason.

Ummm

SBSettings

5/6 icon docks

Gridlock to place app's anywhere on pages

Barrel (gives the borring OS new life when switching pages, mine's set to curl and roll away)

FolderEnhancer to replace the dumb Apple folder system, no more restricted # of apps per folder, and can have folders within a folder (great having a game folder that's organized etc)

Quickscroll is awesome when browsing

Winterboard and all the various theme's on Cydia and from sites online like Macthemes etc. Hell there are complete themes like on Macthemes that don't even resemble iOS, I just saw one the other day that's like having real OS/X installed.

I just downloaded it, freaking awesome having that in the notification center instead of hitting home button twice. Cool find. And yeh there will be a lot off cool widget addon's for notification center/SBS that will be coming out.

When I first started Jailbreaking I installed lots of Cydia Apps that was at 3.1.3 with each new version of IOS more and more of what I want is in there and the only reason I jailbreak today is to be able to install Untrasn0w and unlock my phone.

Grooveshark is so much better than the other music apps???

And there is an app (iconproject) that lets you put things like the wifi and brightness right on the home page.

And . . . 5 icons in the dock? I don't need 5 icons in the dock. Who does?

I had the exact same question as the OP; and you guys have convinced me, beyond any shadow of any doubt, that I DON'T need to jailbreak.

As you said, you don't need to jailbreak; others do.

SBSettings and tethering are reason enough for me to jailbreak. Is it a dealbreaker for the phone? No, but it certainly is convenient to have.

Tell me more. I'm new to the apple world and I'm an appict™ (word Ive made my own) (1.19.12)

iOS kinda sucks to be honest, I just like the hardware.

Agreed
I am seriously considering jumping ship after my contract is up in a year. Been an iphone user since the original. Could be just getting sick of the same old thing too, it's been quite a few years.

The amazing part is that many jail breakers would be so easily satisfied with some BASIC features that Android has had for years now;

- quick reply options (BiteSMS)
- settings toggles (SBSettings)
- filesystem access (iFile)

But Apple just refuses to provide ...
