As the title says.

It will be limited to a larger 5.8 screen probably so why would all those with a 4.7" screen update when they refused to buy the IPhone 6, 6S and 7 plus?

Surely in 2018 they will instead offer an OLED model in smaller sizes anyway?

How do you know that so many will upgrade from the 5, 5S, or SE to the 8?

Edit: misread post. And now I'm not even sure what you're asking..

I highly doubt that. Surely rumours suggest it it may be even bigger than the current plus model?
Rumours don't suggest that. Rumours suggest this:

iphone-8-render-7-and-7s-800x525.jpg

Left: 4.7" LCD. Middle: 5.8" OLED. Right: 5.5" LCD.

why?

cause a lot of techies here would like to have the latest of the latest Apple has to offer. And for folks in the US and UK who joined the iPhone Upgrade Program, so that makes its somehow (monthly) afforadble .

And another group that simply like to show off they can afford (paid with a CC, you get it? ) the expensive new iPhone (even if they don't admit it).

And then there's the group who sells the latest iPhone they got, so they can use the money for a new iPhone

Perception and reality are very different in my experience. Most people don't care what phone you use these days as pretty much everybody owns a smartphone and iPhones are too popular to be head turners now.

true, the last few years the iPhone became just a mass product.
But now with the +$1000 oled iPhone it can become a status symbol again, like the first few years when Apple introduced the iPhone.
That's what I meant ;)

There may be some people who will view it like that but I certainly wouldn't. It's an overpriced mobile phone as far as I am concerned, not an object that portrays the success of a person.

I had the 6+ then went to a 6S because the plus was too big of a phone for me- but I really miss the screen size of the + and the better battery life!

The 8 seems perfect for me, still about the size of the 6S but bigger screen that I've been missing!

I'm excited for Tuesday- I work Tuesday-but I'll be able to check online every so often for updates!

We don't know how many will buy iphone X (as the latest rumor has it) or even the 7s/+. The latest rumors also has it that the 7s/+ will indeed be called the ip8/+.

One things is apparent ALTM...the 7s/+ will have very little beyond the usual processor bump, 3gb RAM, maybe a bump on the camera, and wireless charging.

I don't see how that would deserve the jump from ip7/+ to the ip8 nomenclature, but that's all just marketing spin to me.

If that is enough to make you buy it, go right ahead...I'm waiting for OLED to make it in the 4.7" display before I will be convinced to buy another iPhone.

The iPhone X will have the visual ID, the redesign of course incl. the swipe up/etc new motions to replace having to press the 'home button', and whatever other new features will debut w/the new design.

So on the one hand, very little expected with the 7s/+...yet Apple will be charging the same prices as previous years and the iPhone X which will carry a price premium over the standard models.

Shelling out anything above $700 is a substantial amount of money for a device that "needs" to be replaced every 2-3 years. So if you're going to spend at least that much, you want the "best" available.

Why would people spend 80-90% of what the iPhone 8 will cost on an "inferior" product like the iPhone 7S? Apple knows their customers. They know from the flop of the iPhone 5C that they won't go for the cheaper option when there is a more expensive, "better" option available.

Not seeing much point upgrading to the 7s to be honest given the rumors it will only really include glass back from last years model. The OLED iPhone is where we will see improvements.

Ok but if that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 6" inch or larger IPhone in 2018 to match the current plus model.

My guess is a small part the bottom of the display will be taken up by a virtual home button, and perhaps the top dedicated to statuses, with the main display in the center much like it is now. Either way, the X / Edition will offer a lot of screen real estate for its size, and that’s going to appeal to a lot of people.
