MacRumors is by leaps and bounds the most friendly forum I have been a member of, and that is exactly the reason I've stuck around and contributed. Most members are intelligent, witty, helpful and very generous with their time. But I do know what you mean; there are a few annoying members. But you've got to put up with it, as in life. Surprisingly, the chap who was banned yesterday I didn't find to be that rude compared to some others I've met online.

Anyway, you can ignore a certain user by clicking on their name, going to view profile, and clicking on "Add this user to your ignore list". Then saving it. Their posts won't show up anymore. Very handy if there's someone in particular you feel you just can't put up with; in this case the said Demi-Goddess.

i believe you can attain the illustrious "demi" designation simply by paying 25 bucks to the site. while many of these folks are genuinely knowledgeable, the moniker in a vacuum means nothing.

You are correct.

It has been somewhat mentioned, but go to another forum and look around. The fact that MacRumors has strict rules against being rude and profanity and other things deemed offensive; this forum is much more professional. The grammar police are always out in full force and it creates a much better environment, nothing is perfect, but it's pretty good here.

Hmm.. I don't think I will be paying money, but I will contribute as much as I can, unless I feel I have nothing to say :) at least nothing important.

The only thing is dislike about some rudeness is when someone adds "Was that so hard?" after his or her post. It really irks me for some reason.

Right.. and the thing is, if you searched and tried to find an answer and you post a thread to ask a question, apparently it WAS hard for you, otherwise, the thread would have never been started..:(

some people has nothing to do and like to kill their time having "fun" by annoying others, it seems that they are more comfortable in a virtual environment than in real life.

It's never happened to me. I remember some guy made a thread about if I was a good time to buy a new computer and someone replied saying "Buy it if you need it. Is it really that hard for you?" I'm not a big fan of distasteful posts. I love happy people. :D

Im glad I posted this thread.. I feel much better about the situation at hand.. The more I read on my last thread, the more upset I got.. seems some people will never grow up.. manners are always best.. "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all.."

Oh happy people are the best!!! I am genuinely a happy person.. I am the comic among my friends and family, and when I get upset or in a bad mood, everyone knows that SOMETHING is definitely wrong..

The thing is, a lot (and I mean a lot) of members never even search to start with, they just make a new thread. Sometimes in the iPhone forums there are 3 exacts threads in the first page alone.

Point of curiosity - is that noted by admins as an infraction of the rules and issued points? [Edit: If it was/is that would slow that down a bit.]

To be fair, I find that the people who are the rudest are the members who have been here for more than a few months, but less than a few years.

These are the "Search the damn forum before posting", and "RTFM" guys who have been here long enough to be annoyed by certain things, but not here long enough to chill out and realise that if you're here long enough, you'll have seen EVERY type of question imaginable asked at least once. Eventually, the newest regular members catch on, chill out, and just answer the question again. ;)

On the other hand, some of the long-term regulars here can be rude towards extremely rude members and call them out, and I'm not entirely in agreement with doing this in the public. Some people are new, and don't know why people are being so rude. When they see this, they simply come to the conclusion that this forum is full of ******s.

Well that's your opinion, this is a community and each member has a different take on things. Should we all behave the way you want us to? Is that right?

Another idiom for you, "you have to take the good with the bad".

I think forum users should abide by the rule: "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all".

There are some rude people on this site, and I've just grown to ignore it. However, there isn't really any need for people to be rude, it's as if they go out their way to be rude, which is quite sad actually.

Re: Why are some members SO RUDE?!?!?!?

It takes years of practice.

And since we don't want to waste all that hard work, we must use those hard earned skill.

I know that not everyone is going to like you, or the things you post, but why on EVERY thread I have started are people so rude? If you go to my profile and read some of the posts under the "Funny Counterfeit Story" thread I started, everyone is EXTREMELY rude. If you don't like what someone posts, then don't reply back! Is it that hard? I just cant figure out why on threads, instead of stating opinions, or helping matters, members decide to trail off on criticizing the thread starter, or how they spell or their last name, or saying that their post is a POS. Get off your high horse!! Just because I am not a Demi Goddess does not mean that I am stupid or that I don't know what I am talking about.. I thought this forum was for people to ask questions, of get help.. not for them to be criticized with every post. Who gave you the right to put people down, IMHO YOU are beneath me in every standard possible, just for putting your self above others. And this is not for EVERY member it is for the ones that cant keep their rude comments to their selves.

But honestly, why are people so RUDE on here??

Simple ... it's the only place (I'm refering to the internet) these people CAN be rude without the shyit being kicked out of them :D
