Yeah, I've noticed the influx of e-thugs here. They always come around the release of Apple products. It's been slowly getting worse and worse since the first iPhone came out two years ago.

I know what you mean. That's my general feeling about almost all California residents.

I'd like to remind everyone that the best way to take care of rude posts is to report them. We can't possibly see every post ourselves, so we rely on post reports.

I can also mention that it's a big help NOT to post something like "this is against the rules" or "reported". That just makes more clean-up work for us. Just report the post and it WILL be dealt with if it's in violation of the Forum Rules.

By the way, this thread is much better suited to "Site and Forum Feedback", so I'm moving it there. ;)

I know that not everyone is going to like you, or the things you post, but why on EVERY thread I have started are people so rude? If you go to my profile and read some of the posts under the "Funny Counterfeit Story" thread I started, everyone is EXTREMELY rude. If you don't like what someone posts, then don't reply back! Is it that hard? I just cant figure out why on threads, instead of stating opinions, or helping matters, members decide to trail off on criticizing the thread starter, or how they spell or their last name, or saying that their post is a POS. Get off your high horse!! Just because I am not a Demi Goddess does not mean that I am stupid or that I don't know what I am talking about.. I thought this forum was for people to ask questions, of get help.. not for them to be criticized with every post. Who gave you the right to put people down, IMHO YOU are beneath me in every standard possible, just for putting your self above others. And this is not for EVERY member it is for the ones that cant keep their rude comments to their selves.

But honestly, why are people so RUDE on here??

Lets get right to the point here, the members that are rude and nasty are probably the ones that are most unsuccessful in real life and this is the only place where that can make themselves feel better.

I have many times wished for a way to delete my account, but realised that there are some really helpful members here, after some time you will see this and learn to ignore the asses.

They're rude because most of the time you can get away with it, something they might get punched in the head for in reality.

You are correct.

It has been somewhat mentioned, but go to another forum and look around. The fact that MacRumors has strict rules against being rude and profanity and other things deemed offensive; this forum is much more professional.

Much more professional? Man, I hope you are joking.

There will always be rude people around, in forums, in the cafe, at your workplace...etc. We just have to learn to deal with them, not to. Either way, try not to let them affect you too much.

The grammar police are always out in full force and it creates a much better environment, nothing is perfect, but it's pretty good here.

That is the most absurd thing i have heard on this forum. I am a member several other places and this is by far the worst place around.

To be fair, if im bored i'll poke at the fanboys to watch them blow up.

Okay, so you say MR is by far the worst place around ... and then you say that you enjoy poking at the fanboys.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

Thanks for the laugh. Maybe its whatever forum you're currently tabbed on that is the worst one. Maybe...its just you.

While being civil, I will take a contrary view. The majority of members of this forum, and most other internet forums, are quite civil and helpful, otherwise its popularity would suffer.

Forum tend to mirror the real world to a great degree. There are gurus and then there are jerks . . . we've all met them in real life and online.

The members who are not so friendly are a minority, however they stand out because of their behavior . . . which is an attention seeking component of the behavior, as we know.

+1. I totally agree. However, having read the post the OP refers to, I don't think one should think someone is rude just because they don't particularly agree with a post. This is a forum, and people have different opinions. Having an opinion is not being rude.

internet = relative anonymity + inability to incur any meaningful repercussions for your actions = douche baggery

it's a lot easier to be tough and say things when people don't know who you are and can't hurt you - where as if you tried it in real life you'd probably be scorned and/or punched in the nose. sadly people following this trend only further encourages others to do the same.

I don't find it to be that absurd. For the most part, proper grammar is used and every other thread doesn't garner a picture of a cat. We are not perfect, but from what I can tell we are pretty good. Few users complain that they fail to be helped, which has to be one of the a priori goals of the forum.

Isn't that considered trolling?
