Dude. It’s basically known Apple wanted to to both but couldn’t in time for release...it was even delayed without it.

No reason to get defensive about it. There were reports that say Apple never had intentions to put Touch ID in the X as well. It was also reported that challenges with the TrueDepth camera was the reason for the delay. Neither of us know for sure. What we do know is that Apple bough PrimeSense in 2013 and spent 4 years perfecting the kinect-like tech we have now in the X. They have also stated themselves that Face ID was the plan all along (obviously, could be saving face there) and that it is a better solution than Touch ID. Whether you approve or not is up to you to decide, but Apple has made the choice to move forward with Face ID. History would suggest that Apple would not go back in the opposite direction when they have taken a step forward in biometric security.

It’s not defensive. It’s letting you know your opinion is just that. As is mine.

the kinect is/was a failure man its not in the X at all its actually been phased out they no longer make/sell them. But i agree about face id. Buttons are done for on phones now.

Okay well when you start with "Dude.", it shows otherwise. Anyway, it's not my opinion. This is simply what Apple has decided is a better system moving forward.
Almost 8 years in CA. It’s habit. Meant.. I get it.. I get what you’re saying.

I still contest that Apple has made a decision to go all-in on FID

Well they essentially took the components of the kinect, miniaturized them, and used the tech to create Face ID. Obviously the tech has matured since purchased in 2013.

Understand. So you think they will claim Face ID is better than Touch ID, make it a key feature on their biggest flagship release ever, and then reverse course next year and bring it back? I just don't see it happening, but we can agree to disagree and move on.

I'm keeping mine, but do wish it was a bit smaller, thinner and definitely lighter. Face ID is very fast, prefer it over finger ID. Love the phone, just wish it was a little smaller.

Just a little too big for me that’s why I returned it. So used to the 6/7/8 footprint 1 handed use with a medium protective case.

Im returning my X also for the same reason....i got so used to holding the plus size that this phone is tiny..i feel like i went backwards...i personally just cant get used to the smaller phone size where as when i went from a 6 to a 6plus it took 2 days and i was used to it. every since then its been plus size for me..only downside is i traded in my 7 plus....should have kept it - tried the X and went back to the 7 plus...but the battery was fried also.
so now ill have to buy something either a new 7 plus or an 8 plus. sure wish i would have tried this thing before the trade in...

I skimped out and kept the X only cause it would be a pain in the ass to pay a 70 restocking fee and then go buy the 8 Plus and my wife has no patience for that. My 16 year old daughter who can't live or breathe without her phone for a second's contract is up next month so I may give her my X and use her upgrade for the 8 Plus. Not sure how smart that is though lol.

I’m returning my iPhone X and going to an 8 Plus. I believe PWM to be my primary issue with the X.

I had an ocular migraine for the first time in my life, along with eye fatigue/pain after using the X. Although I cannot say with absolute certainty, the X caused my ocular migraine, it is the most likely trigger. And I am certain the X is causing eye/pain, something I never experienced with my 7 Plus.

Hello from the future!!!

I've had the 8 Plus for a couple weeks now and have really enjoyed it over the 6S Plus. It's faster than the iPad Pro 9.7" 128GB to the point I'm annoyed with the A9X and 2GB of ram. Really would like to see iPads refresh with the SAME chip as the phone @ the SAME time. Right now, my only choice would be to iPad 10.5" and go back in time to an A10X. It's BALLS!

The water "proofing" is nice, but I don't think I'll keep it in the shower or take a dive with it. Not a fan of how the speaker gets muddle for awhile after the shower. :( The camera's much better, the speakers kick it up a notch or three, the actual phone speaker and microphone have improved.

I'm using the Apple Official Leather case and it fits FANTASTICALLY! It's slim, light, feels great (I like to rub it!), smells great (especially when I do lines off it), and the AM Film screen glass (this stuff is clear and no bublly on the edges for $7 for 2, just as good as invisible shield).

Hope you all are enjoying your Sunday with Football, Ice Skating, and browsing the world wide web on your 8 Plus or X or 8 or 7 Plus or 7 or 6S Plus or 6S! If you're blowing snow with an iPhone 6 Plus or 6 or less, then this bud's for you!

Dilly! Dilly!
