So sick of our really, really slow Windows computer back in 2005. My mate has a Mac and I saw how easy it was to use...so I switched. But it was mainly because of the painfully slow windows computer. I don't even remember what brand it was, just that it was running windows. Always used to shut down unexpectedly, etc. My god I love mac's now. I'm still using my iMac G5 (PPC, iSight) and am very happy with it.

I read that Mac users are less prone to baldness than windows users. Since I switched my hair is much more thick. Unfortunately my girlfriend also uses the computer and has started to grow a small moustache...:D

Seriously: after 2 months of Sony Vaio with Vista I was so frustrated that I decided to go for the switch. I liked Vista as an OS, but there was no leap in usability like I hoped. It still feels like a patchwork of apps that together are an OS. No consistency of GUI, utility and setting locations etc etc. In addition it was sloooow, and I had a fast computer.

One of the things that bothered me the most was always the problem solving "wizards". After two options the problem was never solved and then you had to surf the web. In Leopard the "assist me" functions are great if you have a problem.

I honestly ask myself why I didn't switch sooner..

Wow, really? I thought Apple already cornered this market? My whole scholastic career was Apple based (until college, those were dark days). Apple in the education market formed my young mind. ;) :D

You would think so, but most teachers I know use PCs -- with the exception of art teachers, who almost always have Macs. Probably the main reason I got so hooked on PCs was because I wanted to play lots of games in jr high. Then in high school I took a lot of computer science classes, and naturally all the programming we did was in a windows environment. I've never seen a computer science class at a high school that used Macs.

2 years later I bought an iMac and haven't looked back since! I got everyone around me wanting a Mac too

I got my family to get an iMac - My dad saw how well my MBP functions (with nary a hitch at all) and he began drooling. Now he's got XP loaded in Bootcamp, an lots of those free little iPod/audio apps that make your digital life so much easier. He loves it. The mistake I made was showing him how to use Mac the Ripper and he's gone nuts ripping as many DVDs as he can get his hands on...

Erm... I got a ibook G4 so I could copy all the design software from the macs at college

But basically the stability won me over

I switched in 1993 to play games, yes to be a Mac gamer not PC gamer. My buddy had an Apple IIgs with a whole bunch of games so I bought a IIvx. System 7.1, 68030 32mhz, 5MB RAM, 2x CD, 14" VGA display, 512KB VRAM. Then I found out that there were Apples and Macs and the games did not work:mad:. But I loved the Mac and stayed ever since. Remember in 93 copying software for personal use was not a debated issue in the media so I had no concept that it was stealing. I related it to recording a movie from TV or song from the radio.

Non-switcher here, too. Went from an Apple ][+ to a Mac 512K (aka the "Fat Mac") in 1985, never looked back.

In a way you are a switcher Apple ]['s were still in production and the ][gs was not yet released so you switched from an Apple to a Mac:D.

I bought my first Mac (14" iBook G4 @ 1GHz) on November 14, 2003. I "switched" from an Amiga 2500; I have never owned a PC and I never will own a PC. I switched because a friend showed me iMovie (on an iMac G3 no less!) and I was hooked. It was the coolest thing I'd ever seen on a computer. I was the first person in my social group to buy a Mac and all my friends said I was nuts. But the next person bought one a month later, and now they all own Mac's. Last time I added up the "family tree" I'm directly responsible for selling over two dozen Mac's. :apple:

Convenience. At uni, it was either wait in line to use a slow Win3.1 PC or immediately sit and use a brand new Mac Quadra. When it came to buying my first serious computer (I don't count my Amiga 500 in that, since mostly I just played games on it) a Mac seemed like the right choice.

This was 1991 for the record :)

I didn't switch. My first computer with a GUI was a Mac - prior to that it had just been the usual 80's text mode stuff such as CP/M

Windows came later =]

iBook G4's are excellent and still quite powerful for their age. :)
Awesome! Man I hope a good deal presents itself soon!!!!!
(then the only thing holding me back would be some extra Algebra my Dad is having me do this summer :(. Once I finish I am going to buy the first good deal I see!!)

i was never really a faithful pc user... i used apple's all throughout highschool, and then my parents bought me a pc in 1998... i then bought a digi 001 in late 1999 and tried to run pro tools on my pc... that is what led me to buy my first G4 tower, so that i could run pro tools.

I bought a Mac because I've wanted one for years but couldn't afford it. I remember the Apples back in middle school and how much easier they were to use. Rose, my Macbook Pro, is so much better than my PC. The PC is used for Photoshop only since I'm still learning my wireless mouse for the laptop.

Wait. Maybe it was a Mac. All I know was it looked very much like this in the set up. And now I'm thrilled to be using the Mac Airport wall connector thingy. So much easier than the PC crap I had to deal with.

Because I Tried Vista. After that I went back to xp, and then finally to mac. Went to the apple store and bought a mac pro. Great decision, although I do regret not taking the sales persons advice and pulling my car up to the loading dock. Carrying a 50 pound giant box about 500-1000 feet to your car is NOT a good idea by any standards. I was sore the next day thats for sure lol, but it was worth it. About 3 days ago I got a mac book, and feel just as good about purchasing my second mac as I did my first.

Built myself a super duper Shuttle gaming rig, with clear modded case and a top GPU. One day I got a virus and it really narked me. I had a retail anti-virus. I bought an iBook G4 and loved it. 360 for gaming!
I do miss counter strike though:(

I wouldn't consider myself a "switcher." I still use Windows (XP and Vista) regularly as well as Linux once in a while. I have no ill-feelings towards Microsoft. Microsoft and Apple are basically the same to me. Two companies who want to make money.

I switched cause I wanted a stable piece of hardware and a great OS. When I use my PC, I don't get that. That's why I barely use my PC, and primarily my mac, cause I know I have nothing to worry about. Looking forward to throwing that PC in the dumpster, in the next little while.
