When i was studying music tech, i bought a recording system (001, at the time) and bought a G4
to record and learn on at home, as i found Pro Tools didn't run than well on PC, as-well as being advised
by the teacher to go to a mac. Than after a few months using the OS9/OSX system I decided to ditch
the home pc altogether and bought myself a Macbook Pro for my everyday needs and haven't looked back. /end

I came straight from the Amiga. I am simply a Microsoft-Hater (yeah, I admit it :p ) and NEVER bought any product from them. And proud of it.

Switched from Amiga to Mac in 1999, still have my Amiga 500, Amiga 2000 and Amiga 4000 Tower in the basement ;)

Very nice, the NEW breed is coming along splendidly. :D

I needed a laptop for school and at the time the 12" Powerbook was dead sexy and small so I jumped. Then I bought a macbook then a macbook pro. Then I got jaded with always being paranoid to buy because of new models being released. So I gave up, bought an eee pc for school and a rokcin gaming PC for home and haven't looked back. My girlfriend has a macbook so I get my Apple fix when i need it.

Hi everyone!
Just wanted to hear your stories on why you switched to mac. I am a nooB here and want to hear all the stories, the good AND the bad!:D Also if you have had any heated discussions with microsoft people.:D

Better multi-tasking, better performance with lower spec hardware, incremental free upgrades that add features, more intuitive user interface and they look cooler :)

I switched to a mac because I needed a new laptop for grad school and I hated Windows. I also enjoyed working with the macs in my classes and at my on-campus job.

Because I got a MacBook Pro for my birthday. Its the best computer I've had and or ever used.

I didn't switch. :p

Our first computer was a Performa 640 CD and I'd always just grown up more used to Macs than PCs.

After doing Music Technology, I wanted a Mac. I waited until the iBook became the MacBook and bought then. I've never looked back to Windows, though having gone to do computer science and uni, I've found the UNIX environment brilliant, so have used a couple of Linux and Unix distros.

I got my family to get an iMac - My dad saw how well my MBP functions (with nary a hitch at all) and he began drooling. Now he's got XP loaded in Bootcamp, an lots of those free little iPod/audio apps that make your digital life so much easier. He loves it. The mistake I made was showing him how to use Mac the Ripper and he's gone nuts ripping as many DVDs as he can get his hands on...

I got my husband and daughter wanting one. I think once my son moves back home after the navy, I can get him converted too. ;):p

i switched because I was tired of the madness from using windows. I have never regretted it at all.

-going to college for graphic design
-intel
-windows on it (even though I now hate it and have deleted it)
-free ipod deal

Well... Windows was a headache, and I saw all the Mac commercials and videos and tutorials and I was amazed.

I'm on a Vista machine right now :( and I hate it. How hard is it to make a 20 megapixel Firefox logo!?

Because I was tired of having my PCs crash all the time.
Because I was tired of having to mess with the hassle of firewalls and virus protection all the time, and having them interfere with nearly everything I installed on my computer.
Because Windows Vista broke my spirit completely, and drove me completely over the edge.
Because I could never get my husband to learn our PC because he was too intimidated by the constant warnings from Vista asking him if he was sure he wanted to ______ (close a window, open a window, delete a file, whatever mundane task was at hand); and he took to our iMac like a duck to water. :)

I have never regretted it at all.

My mantra. I try to sit down and use XP now, and man oh man does that thing get under my skin. It's so easy to use the Mac that I keep forgetting how irritating and confusing Windows really is.

I'm generally not short-fused, but using Windows for any length of time is one thing that really gets me fuming... out of sheer frustration.

So that I could stop completely reformatting my entire windows systems every 3 months.

Haven't had to do it to my mac once.

Basically my friend has a macbook and was telling me about, I started comparing his macbook with my Pc and then compared the OS.X to vista and I decided to get rid of the junk. Past the PC down to my little brother and got a Blakc Macbook for the birthday. Been an apple fan ever since.

My (gasp!) Compaq died, so I bought a Dell. I began the conversion from tape based audio recording to computer recording. Soon, the Dell died. I was fed up. Bought my first iMac in 2002.. the 15" G4 with the flat panel LCD, it looked like a lamp! I've been a Mac man ever since. :D

I haven't technically made the switch yet, but my reason is because of the simplicity of it all -- from the OS to the design, it is all so very simple and pretty.
